Hi to everyone,
It’s been a while since I posted, I’ve been flat out like a lizard drinking.
I’ve been varnishing a piece of furniture I’ve just restored, It’s really too cold to do it, but I have so many other things on the go at the same time.
CC, I don’t think Poms are whingers, most of my best mates are English/Irish/Welsh/Scottish.
Thanks for the welcome.
Hi Persey, Ohhh! New Zealand, You must be talking about the islands further down than Tassie?? Tassie was left off the map of Australia once. It was some big Aussie extravaganza. The Tasmanians weren’t too happy. I don’t blame them.
Hi Tec, I’m glad to meet you.
Hello Allan and Berona,Sue and any one I’ve missed.

Can anyone tell me when FMP is free again, as England won the last game???

Hello Hollzy - crikey I'm glad you've made it back, mate:-))

I think FMP may be free now if you register quick. England plays at midnight our time which is about 3 pm UK time.

Oh no, I missed Berona again.

No news yet, my daughters partner will just be arriving at the hospital now to see what is happening. I kept waking up in the night and immediately went into anxious mum mode. I am very close to my daughter, we speak everyday for instance (my son isn't like that lol).

Thanks Sue, I thought it was 5.30 pm today, South Australian time, to 5.30pm tomorrow,I've just done some calculations on the world clock
I hope that's right. (not the world clock, but my calculations) ;))) I'll soon find out. Thanks OOO ROOO!!

Berona Report 27 Jun 2010 11:07

Just popping in for a moment. No news yet, Linda? Things might settle down for a while - and they might not too. I can imagine how anxious you are. If it helps you any, I'm getting all fired up with it too! Make sure you let us know as soon as you can (as if you wouldn't!).

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 27 Jun 2010 11:28

Linda - I can well imagine how you feel. Did you say you are off south on Monday? Your girl will be glad to have her mum with her.

CC - it sounds like you and your OH have had a tough time. Is there such a thing as job security? Things have changed greatly over the years. My son who was in the army had a hard time finding work because he was over qualified. He had to downgrade his CV.

Thanks for the tea and biscuits CC - very welcome when we're all pacing with Linda.

Persephone

Persephone Report 27 Jun 2010 12:17

Poor Linda - know what you are going through - for the first grandchild there were that many of us in the delivery suite waiting and then everything stopped and the midwife was no longer required and our Maia (now 15) was delivered by Caeserian.

Your little pop ins with your reports is a bit like the space shuttle count down.
You will have us all pacing the floor with you - though I think CC will be left behind in that telephone box called the Tardis.

Looking forward to your next instalment Linda.

Cheers Persey...xxxx

LindainHerriotCountry Report 27 Jun 2010 12:30

Next instalment as requested.

The doctor finally turned up to talk to my daughter. They had taken blood for testing yesterday and all was well, she is still on precautionary antibiotics.

As the baby is not due until 24th July and my daughter is showing no signs of labour, they are just going to leave her to see if she goes into labour by herself. If nothing has happened by Friday, then they will induce her. In the meantime, she has to stay on the antenatal ward. Poor thing is soon going to get fed up of being there, but she has no choice of course.

So we are just staying put here, bags packed and ready to go. When we get the call, we will both go down and we will see how things go. OH might just stay for a couple of nights and come home, leaving me there, or he might stay.I will take my laptop with me,so I will still be on line

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 27 Jun 2010 12:34

You must have no fingernails left Linda. Poor girl - she's going to bored silly if things don't start happening soon. Should we keep pacing or can we sit down for awhile?

Sue xx

Persephone

Persephone Report 27 Jun 2010 12:59

That's a long time to be fidgeting in the ante-natal ward - though I guess it is the best place to be. Is she allowed out for a car ride with her husband - sort of like "prison" leave? I know I would be chomping at the bit and wouln't be able to concentrate on reading. I would need a café visit at the very least.

Here they say no can do and send you back home - and when you have the baby if all okay you are back home within the day. I think it is called caring... caring my ar**. In my day you could be there a week or so and
we had to have bath the baby training etc. Nowadays some poor young girls who haven't a clue are turfed out with no understanding at all.

Are you going to be called Nana or Grandma or ??? Linda.

Love Persey xx

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 27 Jun 2010 14:32

I will be Grandma, though what the other Grannie is going to be called, I don't know.
When I spoke to my daughter, she was out for a walk, they had gone to the cafe to get some sandwiches because she was hungry. They are only keeping her in because her waters have gone, so they can monitor the baby and do blood tests to make sure there is no sign of infection. My daughter says she doesn't feel any different at all, the baby is still moving and kicking as normal.

Poor thing is going to be demented by the time she gets out and tired of course because she is on a four bed ward with someone who snores loudly, plus the plastic covered mattresses are not conducive to sleep.

After a normal birth, they turf them out immediately here as well Perse. If the baby is born during the morning, they are turned out at tea time. If it is born during the evening, they stay overnight. That is why we are going down as soon as we get the call,so that we will be there for support when she comes home.

In my day, you were in for a week with your first baby, less for the second one, I came out after two days with her. I remember bringing my son home and when we came into the house and closed the door, there was a moment of panic when I realised that we were on our own with him, with no helpful nurses to sort things.

I think that you can sit down Sue, or you are going to be worn out, it may be the end of the week before anything happens, but I am hoping it will be sooner, my nerves can't stand it.

Greetings Everyone,

Well Linda, What a tense weekend this has turned out to be be for you both. I shouldn't think that your daughter appreciates being incarcerated in the hospital just now, but I suppose it's the best place for her to be at the moment under the circumstances. Try not to worry, though I know you will, that's natural. Good that you can be in contact, and ready to run when you are needed, that must mean so such to your daughter just now.

I'm not going to mention the football - least said the better.

Had a lovely weekend with my daughter. She was so excited to see the dolphins playing in the bay. After a nice dinner, she and I returned to the beach, sat on a rock and watched the last rays of a beautiful sunset disappear into the sea. We are very close, and had a real good father/daughter chat about many things. It was precious time spent together. She and her husband left this afternoon.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 27 Jun 2010 22:09

I am so glad that you had such a nice time Tec.
Far from being incarcerated. my daughter has been out to dinner in the local pub, rather than eating hospital food. They are continuing to monitor her, but there is no sign of anything happening at all, so I think that it is going to be a very long wait.

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 27 Jun 2010 22:13

Good morning/evening everyone - I trust you are all well?

Tec - sounds like you had a wonderful weekend. It is indeed precious time. When the children grow up and become entangled in their own lives we seem to spend less and less time with them as parent and child.

So no news Linda. I guess we should all relax and take our cue from you. When you start pacing we'll be right there pacing with you:-))

Good morning Sue, i think I will have to stand you all down for now. They have had her hooked up to various machines and there are absolutely no contractions at all. My new little granddaughter is obviously making her mark on the world early.

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 27 Jun 2010 22:28

Linda - I think it's a shame that your daughter had only just finished work before she had to go to the hospital. I bet she can't wait for you and OH to go down especially once your little girl makes her appearance. By the way....I'm called Grandma too although at the moment one of the twins calls me Hanma.

When mine were little my father used to call in frequently. We had to lay down the law with him because he used to slip them sweets. We only allowed them a small number of sweets on a Saturday as a treat, They have both grown up with perfect teeth, no fillings at all. Anyway my father swapped to giving them fruit, he usually had a bag of grapes in the car. I remember one day my daughter asking me "when the graper was coming"

Good morning/evening everyone

Tec, your weekend with your daughter sounds very pleasant. Our daughter dropped in yesterday morning and asked for a poached egg and then followed that with a piece of spinach pie!

Linda, it will be a long couple of days for you but I'm sure that it will be well worth it.

CC do you need the dilithium crystals for your Tardis? I may need some of those as OH says I'm very Tardy
