Greetings from the land of Myth and Legend,

This morning was horrid weatherwise, grey and overcast, then rain and a gale force wind coming off the sea, but the wind was warm. This afternoon has been totally different, sunshine, blue sky, and very hot.

I've been playing with my now completed water feature, and have been gathering up moss covered rocks and stones to give the appearence of maturity. I've created a kind of "Grotto" surrounded by greenery, where I can hide and relax to the sound of tinkling water - a good book - a glass of wine. You are of course most welcome to join me, just please don't be noisy.

Linda, Good to see you back on the thread - hopefully the baby girl will soon be well enough to go home for good, much to the relief of her mum I bet.

Sue, So pleased your luncheon was such a success, very rewarding for all the effort involved. Well done - or da iawn, as they say in Wales.

CC........I do a lot of work in my garden about an hour before dusk when it's cool - and most of the watering too. That's ok so long as you don't mind being bitten to death by the bugs that fly about at that time of day.

Tec.
Should you be looking for me, I'm in the Grotto

Good morning/evening my friends.

Nice to see you pop in Pat - you love your books don't you:-))

Linda - I hope baby goes home soon. Jaundice is easily sorted out these days.

I hadn't heard from my cousin in High Wycombe for awhile and was rather worried about my dear Uncle in Leeds. He's the only one left of my dad's generation and his family so he's very precious. I received an email in answer to one I sent him and thankfully all is well although - at 90 y.o. - he is insisting on staying in his own home and not living with my cousin and his wife. Luckily they have good friends and neighbours looking out for him. My cousin has found out that his mother was his father's second wife and he is asking me if I know anything about that. I do - but I'm going to say I don't because there was a rather scandalous incident and I don't feel right telling him about it although it happened many years ago. Would you let sleeping dogs lie?

I've also had an email from our Carole. She is very tired at the moment but asked me to send her love to you all.

Hello and goodbye. I have been playing the good Samaritan to someone in New Zealand. She contacted me about my tree, but there is no match. She didn't know anything about he parents, but it was easy to find out loads of stuff for her,so I have been sending that all evening and now it is bed time.
So apologies for my absence, but it has been in a good cause.

The baby is still being treated for the jaundice but the levels are gradually going down. My daughter is desperate to go home, she is hoping it will be tomorrow, but i suspect it won't

Good Morning Sue,

I think you have made a very wise decision Sue - some things are best left in the past - no point in upsetting people with something that happened so long ago.
I have an instance in my own family concerning someone who is also doing their family history. They opened their tree to me, and immediately I spotted something that would have opened up a whole can of worms had I let on what I know. I have this knowledge because I am considerably older than the person concerned, and remember family events. This is one skeleton I won't let out of the cupboard because of the upset it would cause.
Let sleeping dogs lie I say..

CC..........I still don't do photo's - but I will - eventually, be patient, very patient.

Hi Pat.....

Hope you're better soon Carole - take care.

Hello Linda - Goodnight Linda,
We will excuse you as you have been helping someone with their tree.
sleep well,
Tec.

Berona Report 4 Jul 2010 23:34

Thank you, Linda, for the photos. She is beautiful - and doesn't look premmy. I forgive you for missing out on sending them earlier - we all get on a high when our grandchildren come along.
The jaundice will go away. I think one day in hospital is hardly enough for the medical staff to pick up on anything which needs attention. These extra days won't do any harm at all - but I know what it's like. Hospitals are a great place to be when you need to be there - but once the big worry is over - we can't get away from them quickly enough.

Hello Tec - I thought no-one was talking to me:-)) I will leave it alone - no good would come out of me telling my cousin.

Linda - what would we do without you. Good for you:-)

Sue xx

Hello Berona - sorry didn't see you there.

Good Morning Berona,

Gotcha, before I go to bed.
Would you care to join me for a slow foxtrot ?- I know it's too early for a tango.

Sometimes Sue we find ourselves in a moral dilemma with the knowledge we have. The case I mentioned is awkward, because I know that the path this cousin of mine is following is wrong, so therefore his tree is wrong, but what can you do.
If he were to send for certain BMD certs, then the truth will out, but it's not for me to tell him this. Maybe one day he will come back at me because he will assume I knew - what then? do I deny all knowledge? difficult.

Tec.

SueMaid Report 4 Jul 2010 23:52

I also have that dilemma Tec. I think that my uncle - who has dementia - has told my cousin that he was married before he was married to my cousin's mother but little else. Of course it could all come out or come out in bits and pieces leaving my cousin wanting more info. I've sent you a PM.

Tec! I'm here before you say goodnight! (or am I?).
Yes, thank you, I would love to dance!
Hope you and the duchess are well? I made a wrong move and woke myself at 4:30 so made a cuppa and went back but no sleep - just two long chapters of my book.

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 5 Jul 2010 00:22

OK Berona, Get your dancing shoes on, and your best ball gown - just pray no one knocks at the door, they'll think you've flipped LOL.
Sorry you had a bad night, horrible when that happens.
Thanks for the dance - I enjoyed it, sorry to have stomped on your toes.

Sue - I have answered your PM.

Well I am off to bed now,
Enjoy your day Sue, and Berona, (Where's Allan today?)
Sleep well CC, and Diane,

Goodnight all,
Tec.

Good night Tec and thanks for the PM. I must be away too as I have a busy day ahead.

Berona - I hope your health is continuing to improve. We never seem to get much chance to talk.

Goodnight to our Pom friends and a good day our Aussies.

Good Morning or Good Evening,

Today has been another lovely hot day - a cool breeze, just enough to keep things civilized and pleasant. The new roses that I planted in April are all in bloom, and I'm delighted with them.
CC would like the photo's, shame there aren't any - what an agravation I am to her LOL.

CC...... I sometimes feel, when everything is considered, that some knowledge concerning family matters is best kept to oneself. I'm sure that now that seemingly everyone is into genealogy, tracing their roots etc, many skeletons have been rattled out of their cupboards. If in the course of their research someone stumbles on a startling fact about their background, then that's another matter, and they have to deal with it.
However, I would not feel comfortable revealing a family secret that has been kept under wraps for years.
Put it this way - I'm not sure I would appreciate being told after all these years that I'm not who I thought I am - some things are best left alone.

Tec.

Good morning/evening. It is wet, cold and miserable here and I have to take my mum shopping. She has suggested lunch out so that will sweeten the trip:-)) I know that sounds awful but my dear mother is a trial to take shopping.

OH is taking a bus-load of young teenagers up to Sydney to an IMAX screening of Shrek - I'd rather go shopping with mum:-)) These young people are on school holidays and are considered *challenging* but by what criteria I don't know. OH really enjoys these trips and gets on well with the two youth workers who go along to keep control of the young'uns.

I kept the secret regarding my OH's paternal ancestors until the last of the siblings passed away a few years ago. When we travelled to the UK in 2008 I gently and tactfully told OH's cousin and his wife. They didn't know but found it highly amusing. They agreed their father shouldn't have been told but did wonder if he knew.

Hello to all

CC I have your emails, thank you. I haven't yet opened the second one.

Sue, I am so pleased that your recent lunch was such a success.

Linda, my OH had only been home from the maternity home for a couple of hours with our daughter when the midwife called round, and daughter was promptly taken to the Maternity Hospital with jaundice. She was in there for a week, but there were no such things as visiting restrictions which was good.

Tec your grotto sounds great. You'll have to hire it out at Christmas to Father Christmas and his elves. If he brings his reindeer you may even score some fertiliser for your garden :0))

Good Morning Sue,
Good Evening CC.

CC......I'm not staring at you - that's my face - I always look like that.

Sue, I'm sure you will have a lovely time shopping with your mum, if you're good she may even treat you to an ice cream.

Good Morning Allan,

I'm not sure that I want any weird old men who never shave, accompanied by little green men sitting in the grotto.......LOL

Hope you are well today,

I have an irresistable urge for a bacon butty, so I'm off to make one - how decadent at this time of night.

Hello Tec and Allan:-))

You're right to keep out unshaven horribly jolly men who wear funny clothes. Your grotto sounds like a wonderful haven of peace - in fact your descriptions of your garden make me feel like I've been there. I could almost smell your roses.

Good evening Tec,

I enjoy a bacon butty but usually for Sunday morning breakfast, not last thing at night!
