For CC

Rose Petal Wine

3lb sugar
1 gallon water
2 lemons
6 pints strong scented (red) rose petals
yeast.

Dissolve the sugar in the water, add the thinly peeled lemon rinds and bring to the boil. Allow to cool then pour over the rose petals and the juice of the lemons. Stir well and add the previously activated yeast. Cover well and leave to ferment, stirring daily for 7 days. Strain off into the fermentation jar, insert airlock and ferment to a finish.

I used a plastic bucket and added boiling water to the sugar to dissolve it. Once the ingredients initially mixed I then covered the bucket with a tea towel.

I remember when I was a little girl we used to make rose petal perfume, it was revolting lol

CC, I have actually stepped in and out of a rain storm. once when we were in Florida, there was the usual afternoon stair rod type down pour. We were going back to the car which was in a parking lot (to use the American term). We realised that the rain was coming down vertically and in part of the car park there was no rain. we went to the boundary of the rain and we literally could step in and out of it. It was really weird, but the children loved it,so we abandoned going to the car and played at stepping in and out of the storm instead.

lol CC, the rain may have been a free activity, but the trip to Florida wasn't. We have been to the Florida Disney three times and I love it. I don't normally like theme parks in this country, but the Disney experience is so different, surreal but different. We have also been to the Euro Disney in Paris, but that is not as good as the American ones.

I haven't spoken to my daughter since last night, I don't want to wake her up if she is napping in between feeds. I will speak to her again this evening, but the baby seems fine.

This morning was sunny and bright, but I had shopping to do in the "local" town, including the supermarket, so did the usual waltz round the fixtures trying to avoid biddies who were again out to get my ankles with their trolley. Got waylaid twice by little old ladies, who noticed that being taller than them I could reach things on top shelves.
Then run around town to the chemist, butcher, health food shop, pet shop, post office, and dropped books off at the Red Cross.
This afternoon it is raining, albeit lightly, so the sheets that went in the wash before I went out will have to go in the tumble dryer instead of on the line - I hate that because they will be so creased, and take a lot of ironing.

CC........... I notice you were posting at 3 am, so had another bad night, I sympathise with you - sorry not to have saved you any dinner.

Linda, I have never been to Disney World, but sometimes think I live in a theme park - my daughter has always wanted to take breakfast with Minnie Mouse - strange girl.
I am pleased to see the baby is settling down.

You iron sheets???? strange man.

We had breakfast once with the Disney characters, my son must have been about fourteen at the time and he loved it, not that he would tell his friends that of course

We still haven't had any rain here, i thought you promised me some Tec?

Now look here LindainHerriotCountry, there is nothing strange about me, not that I've noticed anyway. I might be a little weird, but not strange.

If sheets have a good blow on the line on a hot windy day, then if you fold them neatly, you can maybe get away with not ironing them. But if they've been all scrunched up in the tumble dryer, then they have to be ironed.

I suppose next you'll be saying I don't need to iron my socks.

Tec.

Tecwyn Report 8 Jul 2010 22:10

CC........I certainly do iron my socks, with a sharp crease front and back, and my unmentionables. Even my PJs have a sharp crease ironed into the trousers.
When I was at sea, my bed/bunk was remade every day with freshly laundered, ironed sheets that came up from the laundry.
A chap becomes accustomed to certain standards you know.

I also wear my tie to bed - one never knows!

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 8 Jul 2010 22:32

CC the thread is about to become emptier because I am going away for a few days. I will not be back until Tuesday and will not be online until I get home

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 8 Jul 2010 22:36

We had more rain this evening, so everywhere is nicely soaked, but it's quite warm. Everything in the garden is growing at a rate of knots. Incredibly, the water board have asked that we conserve water.

Yes CC....I have noticed that quite a few are missing from the thread. I do hope we haven't managed to frighten them off with our sometimes manic postings.

No Linda - my tie is co-ordinated with whatever pyjamas I happen to be wearing - although I had trouble finding a tie with teddy bears on.

I hope you enjoy wherever you are off to - we will miss you of course, but will try to behave while you're away.

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 8 Jul 2010 22:43

There are lots of ties with teddy bears on, you just don't frequent the right shops

Hello everyone - I hope you are all well.

Linda - are you off again? Hope you have a great time. Our son is flying up from Hobart for a few days next week and then I think we may head off down the coast for a few days break. It'll be cold but if it's sunny we can go on a river cruise which stops at a tiny village. The pub does very basic but tasty lunches. When we go down the coast in winter we take books and a couple of dvd's we've been meaning to watch and just relax. Bliss:-))

We had a great time with our grandson. He is such good company and he's developing a wicked sense of humour and a cheeky gleam in his eye. I took him to the cinema to watch Toy Story 3 and he loved it. It's amazing how a few months of school changes a child. He is so much more confident and he knows so much. He isn't a good talker but speech therapy and school has made a huge difference.

CC - thanks for the funny emails. I've had a good laugh:-))
