Good evening CC and Tec, I trust that you are both well.

It was very sad to read about Izzy's son. Whilst I marvel at the job troops of every nation are doing, I don't agree with their political masters' decisions. If the people making the decisions had to go over there to fight, they'd soon be clamouring to find a peaceful solution!!

My apologies Tec, but I had to chuckle at your comments regarding you water feature. Me and 'im upstairs have a similar sort of relationship :0))

CC we don't have gnomes in the garden but we do have plaster frogs. These are a remnant form my frog days when I was working!

The storms have abated here for the moment but another front is expected tomorrow (Sunday). The rain is most welcome but not the winds etc.

Good Morning Allan,

I agree entirely with your opinion of our political masters and warfare, and haven't they always been the same in all wars? I admire greatly the courage of our soldiers, and the job they have to do, but I get so angry about the whole issue, and the terrible loss of life, and injured.

Glad you find my water feature funny, so do I really.

CC....The apple crumble sounds good, I may have a go at it. Everything here has to be suitable for the Duchess's diabetic diet, that I must say she sticks to rigidly.

Tec.

CC, I haven't yet checked my emails, but I thank you in anticipation.

I do, however, have a complaint (not the type you put ointment on :0)) ). The cd's you sent for my OH turned her into a lazy so and so. She put tem into the machine, sat all rugged up in front of the fire and didn't shift until she had heard them both. Wouldn't even make me a cup of tea!!

As for the weather, I hope it abates before next week end as OH is going down to Pemberton next weekend with the choir, and Pemberton get be very cold and wet at this time of the year :0((

So I will be left catering for myself! I might have to invite my good lady around :0))

Hello all - a little late this morning.

Looks like being a not too bad day. I will be sitting on my verandah with a book and a cuppa before long. I intend having a lazy day but the best laid plans etc.......

Good evening/morning all.
Missed Linda, did I? Well, I hope she has a good holiday and I'll see her when we wet the baby's head.

I get up each morning (go on, say it - LATE!) and find the courtyard pavers all wet but don't know whether that is from rain or heavy dew. The sun is up and shining through quite a few clouds. We are hoping for 18 to-day.

Good morning Sue

Many thanks for your email. The garden looks nice.

I did start to take some photos of our garden but then the weather turned sour! I will try to get some pics today and then email them out. I want Tec to see our peas and beans!

Good Morning Sue,

I hope your plan happens undisturbed, get so engrossed in the book and become oblivious to everything around you. When the Duchess has her nose in a book, I could run around the room naked blowing a trumpet, and she wouldn't even look up lol.

Good morning Berona

From the weather charts I'd say that it would be rain!

No mistake about that if you were in WA at the moment!!

Good Morning Berona,

It was 17 C here today, and this is mid summer, but I believe it was 31 C in London today.

Hi Allan:-))

I've just read Izzy's thread. I can't imagine what she's going through. My son was deployed to a reasonably peaceful country and I worried about him all the time - Afghanistan would be a nightmare. I hope she has her boy back home with her before long.

Allan,
Two mountains were sold in Snowdonia today for £1 million pounds to an undisclosed buyer...........it wasn't me.

Allan

Allan Report 9 Jul 2010 23:43

I hope that the buyer does not intend to move them to a new location!!

But I suppose it will mean restricted access.

Some people have more money than sense! Speaking of which, it is a jackpot Lotto tonight, 20 million dollars up for grabs. I may even see if I can pick someones pocket for a ticket :0))

SueMaid Report 9 Jul 2010 23:50

Hello Berona - didn't see you there:-))

Allan don't forget - if you win the Lotto you have to buy us the cruise ship.

Tec - I can easily get engrossed in a good book. I must ask OH if he's ever run around the room naked and blowing a trumpet - can't say I've noticed:-))

I have at last count over 20 books to read. My future SIL and his father have sold their bookshop and anything that couldn't be sent back to the publishers' warehouses ended up here and in my daughter's home. She had to buy a new bookcase the other day. The children did very well - luckily they all love books. SIL also made a donation of books to grandson's school library. They were very pleased:-))

Sue xx

I forgot to ask you Tec - how can someone buy mountains? I thought they were for everyone to enjoy.

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 9 Jul 2010 23:52

Should I see any mountains moving Allan I will let you know. Snowdonia National Park Authority won't allow any form of development there, so the buyer will only ever be able to look at them, and I expect you may be right about restricted access.

Well I'm skipping off to bed now,
Enjoy your day Sue, Berona, and Allan,
sleep well CC, ~~~~~~~to Diane,
Goodnight,
Tec.

Goodnight Tec - sweet dreams.

It seems amazing to me why anyone would want to buy a mountain that can't be developed in any way. More money than sense I should imagine.

Sue, Everything is for sale in the UK, the French have bought water and electricity companies, and Japanese have water companies, it goes on and on.
I think the sky overhead is still looking for a buyer.

Goodnight,
Tec.

Hello all,

Can't sleep again. It's 4.41am and I have work again today although I don't have to start until 10am. Means I leave home around 9am. Being Sunday at least I don't have to pay for parking. Current job involved trying to telephone 15-34 year olds in the Torres Strait. Considering that they spend very little time in their houses this is proving to be a problem.

No fake frogs in my garden - only real ones. Wish I could get rid of the cane toads, though. I really don't like them. I do have a pet frog in the house. It's amazing. When it's going to rain it starts to croak and the sound echoes around the masonry block walls downstairs. My kids can't believe that I have a frog living on top of the support wall in the living room. Before I moved up here I had a real frog phobia (don't know the correct term for that) but now I don't run at the first site of one. I still won't touch them though. Wet season can be a challenge. Even with the doors and windows shut the tiny little ones can still get in the house.

Who said they're having a top of 18c today???? My goodness, that's our minimum up here in the winter and before that we're reaching for the jumpers and slippers. I'm going down to Sydney in a couple of weeks time and not looking forward to the cold down there at all. I"ve had to go and unpack all my fleecies for that trip.

I use my slow cooker a lot. Made Hungarian Goulash for dinner last night. Used gravy beef (is that the same as shin beef? Don't know where the different cuts come from off the beast) and it was as tender and tasty as can be. There's leftovers so I'll cook up some mushrooms and add to that with some boiled potatoes and it will seem like a whole new dish. Gravy beef is only $8.99 a kilo so it's very economical.

Good Morning Pam,

Sorry you're having a sleepless night, I hate it when that happens.
Fortunately I don't have to go to work these days, which is not to say I sit around all day. There is always a lot to do here, either in the house or garden.

We get frogs here, but only small ones. I believe some people keep cane toads as exotic pets here, they keep them in tanks. Don't know that I'd like one. Much rather have a pet bird. I do envy the birds you have around you. I feed the wild birds here every day, so get lots in the garden.

It was probably me that said it was 18 C here. It was hot today at 21 C, but very hot in southern UK at 31 C. We get a lot of rainfall here in Wales, and it has rained for several days now, though some areas of Britain are having drought conditions, and a hosepipe ban - that reminds me is you hosepipe up and running yet, I hope so.

Well, I expect by the time this is sent you will have gone back to bed.

Tec.
