SueMaid Report 12 Jul 2010 21:30

Hello everyone:-)) Hope you are all well.

I was poorly yesterday with a stomach bug. I slept most of the morning, then lounged around in my pyjamas for the rest of the day. By evening I managed some soup, went out to a presentation of a cheque from a motorcycle enthusiasts' club, went home and went straight back to bed.

My son in Hobart is flying up this afternoon for a few days. He is looking forward to visiting family who he hasn't seen for awhile and I can't wait to see him although it's not that long since we were down there.

Allan - thank you so much for the photos. Your garden is a credit to you and your OH. The view is lovely. Can't wait for the bbq:-))

As it's Tuesday morning here it is now 1 year since I started this thread. We have made some wonderful friends, lost one of the gang and supported each other through good and not so good times. Who'd have thought it would last this long? I'm so glad it has.

Good Morning/Evening Everyone,

CC.....You will have to wear that pinny I'm afraid. We can't have Alllan in his Maid With The Hairy Legs outfit on, as he is the host and has to socialise, but as a favour, I will collect up the glasses while you're doing the washing up - how's that?

Sorry you were poorly yesterday Sue, hope you're feeling ok today, hope you have a great time while your son is visiting, nice when the family are together isn't it?

It doesn't seem like a year since your Aussie thread started, I think I've been here almost from the beginning, and have so enjoyed meeting everyone who has posted on the thread. It is fantastic that people who have never met in real life get on so well with never a cross word between them. Great that we can discuss all kinds of topics, and have respect for the opinions of each other. Also great that we can sometimes be so crazy that I feel anyone just looking in must wonder what on earth they've stumbled on.
The Aussie thread is a great tribute to you in bringing so many people from different walks of life together who have come to share a bit of their lives with each other, and care about each other on good days and difficult days.
It means a lot to me to have a new circle of friends, and I hope the thread continues for a very long time to come.

Tec.

Happy Birthday to you. Happy Birthday to you Happy birthday dear Thread, Happy Birthday to youuuu!

Good morning/evening all

Congratulations on the Thread Sue.

To all, the walls were already in place when we purchased the house. That was one of the problems, lugging the lawn mower up the steps. Then when OH had done that she had to bring up the machine so that I could cut the grass! :0))

Tec the cat in question is our No1 cat, the elder statesmen and terror of the neighbourhood. Even Rottweilers have been known to slink away when he is around.

Now I know how to use the various photo size reducing programs I will send a few more pics if people so desire

CC the dunes are the hills at the back covered in greenery. Not to be confused with the hills at the back which are covered in greenery and aren't made of sand.

It isn't confusing at the moment as I haven't taken any photos of them.

If you would like to see some pics of the surrounding area, including gnomesville, I will ensure that my camera is always by my side.

Sue, sorry to hear that you've been crook! I hope that you are now feeling better

Hello Tec and Allan.

Tec - I never thought the thread would get this far. I started it for a bit of fun and it just went from there. I love the thread and it's a great way to start my day. The icing on the cake would be to meet everyone:-))

Allan - I would love more photos.

I feel a lot better - just a bit headachy and tired.

Sue, the storms have now abated, but rain forecast for the rest of the week, which is OK by me just so long as the wind does not put in another appearance

Allan,
I notice that on a previous post I added an extra "l" to your name - apologies, typing error.
I would love any photo's you care to send, always interesting.
Please give my regards to No 1 Cat - a fine specimen.
My daughter gave a home to a cat belonging to one of my neighbours here. The neighbour was moving to a flat and couldn't take him. He is a beautiful cat, a pedigree Norwegian Forest Cat. I put him in a cat basket and transported 100 miles to my daughter's house. He has settled very well, and has taken over the neighbourhood, frequently visiting everyone's house, and getting fed - now he is a huge cat.

Allan, I hate the wind.

Over the last week I have been putting my tree on Ancestry. The "hints" the site gives has led me to two distant cousins and information has been given and received. I was amused to see that my 3 x greatgrandfather's niece married a man called Admiral Nelson - Admiral being his christian name. Fancy giving that name to a child. OH's 4 x great grandfather was called Horatio Nelson Farmer:-)) Obviously the trend for naming a child after a celebrity is not a new one.

Tec, cats are funny creatures.

One cat we had in England moved several times with us and never once went missing!

Sue I suppose that in a few hundred years are descendants will exclaim "My 5x great grandfather was called Clive! What a strange name"

Sue, What wonderful names they are - I love it.

We do find some great names while researching.

My 4 x Gt Grandfather's name was Israel, he had brothers, Jeremiah, Hezekiah, Emanuel, Isiah, and Ezekiel.

For a long time I searched for a Jewish connection, but can't find it, they are of course all Old Testament names.

SueMaid Report 12 Jul 2010 23:04

I love the Old Testament names, Tec. A name that runs through one branch of my family is Jabez. At least they're easier to find than the endless Williams, Johns etc. Not to mention the Sarahs, Elizabeths, Emilys and Catherines.

Allan - I see your point:-))

Allan, I think cats will always stay where they know they're wanted and loved. We had a lovely cat that lived 'till she was 17 yrs old, We really missed her when she went. She would put any dog in its place, no matter how big.

Sue, I keep meaning to ask, how is your grand children's puppy doing?

Thank you lovely lady. How's the veggie garden? Are you allowed to use the hose-pipe?

Tec - the puppy is growing at an amazing rate:-)) She's a lovely dog with beautiful light and dark grey colouring. They've been taking Bella to puppy training and it's definately working. The only problem is she's a chewer as all puppy's are. She has wrecked a couple of potted chilli plants and a cushion from the outdoor setting. They've also found out that they need to wind the clothes hoist up when there is washing on the line:-))

Sue, I'll bet that the chillies got the puppy a bit hot under the collar !! :0))
