Hello Tec .......yes , it's the job I dread the most on the veg plot .....lol

I'm sure my girl will be feeling better in a day or so ......she is on antibiotics now and she has her baby back home for the first time in three days .

My garden is looking happier for the rain but now all the snails and slugs are out on the rampage ......lol

Good evening/morning everyone. Hello Amanda - welcome to the thread.

Sue - I know how you feel. I only seem to get all of mine together on my birthday, mother's day and at Christmas. Sometimes a birthday party, but even those have been held at places like McDonalds, etc. and I usually decline those if favour of seeing the children alone. However, I do get to see them separately and I am beginning to like that more now, rather than hearing two or three conversations all going at the same time. (I think it's called old age!).

Thank you all for the lovely welcome : )) What a splendid , friendly thread you have here Sue : )

It's Tuesday night for me too CC .

Good morning Berona

CC, and you have the gall to criticise my attempts at humour :0))

I once went out with a young lady called Juanita. Shwe wasn't of Spanish or mexican parentage, it was just that she only had one tooth in her mouth!

There was a time before that when she was decadent but she had the other nine teeth taken out. !!

Amanda - Have you tried giving the snails and slugs a saucer of beer? They drown in it - but die happy!

Alternatively - if you have a pet duck - they eat them - but I suppose you wouldn't be able to keep one in an allotment, would you?

Amanda2003 Report 13 Jul 2010 23:25

If all four of my children happen to converge on my home at the same time then bedlam is bound to occur............lol

I have said before that I sometimes feel like I live in a " Giles " cartoon !

Amanda2003 Report 13 Jul 2010 23:29

Hello Berona ....the slugs / snails are more of a problem in the garden at home ( the allotment seems to escape them fairly well ).
I used to have a good population of frogs but unfortunately I got a new black kitten a couple of years ago which has turning into a monstrous frog murder : (( ........ the frogs use to keep the slugs under control .

I used to put our beer traps when we brewed our own beers and they worked rather well .

Allan

Allan Report 13 Jul 2010 23:29

Berona, b***er the slugs. Just send me the beer! :0))

Good Morning Berona,
Hope you are bright eyed and bushy tailed this morning.
You told me I wasn't to mention old age, so how come you're allowed to do so?

Amanda I've just been in my garden with the dog, and it was like the Whacky Races out there with the slugs and snails. The snails I pick up and throw over the wall, but the slugs have to stay put.

Tec

Tec ....you've got me going now and I'm going to have to go into the garden with a torch ....just to see how many I can spot ....lol

It's a bit of a risk in bare feet ( especially if the worms are up on the surface ....it alarms me greatly when I feel them under foot ....uurrggghh )

Having said that I have no problems picking up slugs ......lol

I have to get off to bed now ...hope I don't dream of slugs and snails ...etc ...lol ).....good night ..good day to you all x

Sorry, CC, I have cornered the market in 1c stamps.

Good night Amanda. pleas post again as new faces are always welcome. It gives me a chance to retell all my old jokes.

But I promise that there won't be many tales about spiders:0))

Tecwyn Report 13 Jul 2010 23:54

Spiders don't have tails do they Allan?
Do you get slugs and snails in WA, and if so, are they like British ones?

Tec.

Allan

Allan Report 13 Jul 2010 23:57

Tec, our slugs and snails drink the beer out of the saucers, wave little Aussie flags and chant

"Aussie, Aussie, Aussie. 'Oy 'Oy 'Oy"

They are partial to cricket and can often be found on the pitch itself! :0))

Allan

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 14 Jul 2010 00:04

One would think it frightfully bad form to drink ones beer out of a saucer!!!Tec.

Allan

Allan Report 14 Jul 2010 00:10

Tec, the Aussies like cool beer that's why they drink it out of saucers

CC, more character assassination!!! :0))

All white, all white, enough of the egg jokes or I shell complain to the management!

Good night Tec, sleep well

Yes the wind has abated. The roof is ok but we are going to have the front windows resealed to see it that stops the leaks, otherwise they will have to come out and be reinstalled with new flashings.

We are going for the cheaper option first to see if that cures the problem!

Allan

Allan Report 14 Jul 2010 00:40

That's the problem that we have CC. It's only when the wind is very strong and drives the rain almost horizontally against them.

If we have heavy rain and no wind everything is ok.
