Hello all, Just popping in to say hello. Still busy working and now have my half brother in Sydney in hospital with pneumonia and renal problems. Have to phone this morning to find out what’s going on. Another thing to add to my list when I’m down there for 2 weeks, leaving here 22 July.

Chillies: they’re great for birds. Get rid of worms. Wonder if they work the same way with cats??

CC: So, Michael Jackson wasn’t the first one to give his child the first name of Prince, eh?

Hello Amanda, nice to meet you.

Berona, I, too have that problem. When they’re all together and talking all at once you miss out on more than half the news. But I do get to see mine for longer periods in a short space of time because we live so far apart. Mine always like to do Mother’s Day at McDonalds and that was a bit hectic. Too much noise and stuff going on all around you and for the most part the grandchildren wanted to be outside in the playground.

Of necessity this needs to be short and sweet. Lots of housework to do after 3 full days at work. Don't start today until 5pm but work till 8pam. Too tired when I get home to do housework then. Still, it's nice to get the money to supplement the Age pension. Pittance that it is.

Cheers,
Pam.

Tec - it's only the slugs and snails which drink the beer out of the saucer. How else can they get it without crawling into it? They aren't big enough to lick it like a cat licks from a saucer. (I doubt that cats drink beer, though but I had a dog once who some boys thought it funny to keep giving him beer - he slept all night and all next day too).

As for me being able to blame 'old age' for my shortcomings - you will be able to blame it too, when you're my age, so you still have a few years yet. (DON'T SAY HOW MANY!!).

cc - Allan did send me the flowers last year (at least he said he did) - but he couldn't buy any more 1cent stamps - probably because they haven't been printed for many years!

Good something everyone.

I had a couple of phone calls to make last night and then i was so tired that I just went straight to sleep. I slept like a log, but still feel like I need another good night to catch up.

I am just having a quick type before I go out. I must go straight to the allotment and spend the morning picking fruit. Having been away for a few days, there will be lots of it ripe. We had lots of rain last night,so probably lots of the blackcurrants will have fallen off the bushes. We are forecast more rain for later on, so I need to go while I can.

Hello Everyone

Well what a few weeks I have had!!

I have finally moved to the new house and finished my studies. Still unloading boxes but here at last. I have a job offer in the works at the moment also its all happening.

The last week of exams was hectic to say the least, but got through and passed all subjects which is a great weight off my mind. If I don't succeed in gaining employment the I will probably go back to study accounting in the new year but for now I am enjoying the time off.

I hope all is well with everyone and you are all smiling!!

Be back soon more boxes to attend too..........

Congratulations Janet! Well done.
Pam, sorry to hear about your brother. Pneumonia is no fun (I had it about four years ago, and have been very careful since) but at least he is getting good care.
Hello Sue, hasn't Susanwithnumbers been a busy lady, starting numerous threads.
Hello everyone else, too many to mention. I don't post here very often, but try to keep up with everyone else's messages.
The chat board seems very busy with contentious subjects, and it's not even the weekend. Or is it a bank holiday in the UK? Don't think so.

Hello Janet. Haven't seen you for a while. Did you know that yesterday was our thread's birthday? Not bad going, eh?

Congratulations on getting through the exams and passing all subjects. Hope the job comes through - otherwise, Accounting is a long one. Isn't it four years?

Persephone Report 14 Jul 2010 19:04

Hello everyone

I tried to get on here for the birthday of this thread - but had hardly sat down when OH said could I come with him - ( he was going to be out and I thought ah good one - I can finally get time one here to myself) - So not to be and then last night when we got back - had dinner and I got all set up on here again, answered my e-mails opened genes and then he came in to check his e-mails and when I came downstairs around 11.30pm he had shut down the computer.

Sorry have not been around I tried to catch up at the beginning of the month - read a pile of pages and then GR decided I had enough and wouldn't open the rest. I have reported that it takes me ages to get my tree open sometimes and whilst some threads open straight away others take ages and I can spend an hour getting nowhere.

Hope everything is okay with one and all - congrats Sue on passing the twenty thousand mark. Sorry to hear about your brother Pam - not a nice thing to have at all.
OH going for an eye operation today and he has been battling with a bad cold - been coughing and spluttering (usually don't catch his colds) everywhere and whilst I tried to not succumb I have ended up with it but nowhere as bad (yet with fingers crossed). He has to be awake during the op so he will have to make certain he doesn't cough.

~~~~~~ nice to see you Janet.
I sent Carole and Linda flowers Berona - they were there in no time.
Love Persey.
GoodMorning/Evening Everyone,
We had a humdinger of a thunderstorm this evening, torrential rain like a cloudburst with a river of water flowing down the road towards the sea. No power for an hour, and the thunder rumbled around the mountains for age. Now 9 pm, clear sky, and the makings of a lovely sunset.
Berona - It's ok, I won't say anything about the 3 months difference in our ages :))
Hi Janet, You have been a busy lady. Congratulations on the exam results.Hope the move went without too many traumas, and that you are happy in the new place.
Hi Perse, Wondered where you were! Montgomery is always asking about you, so he will be pleased you've surfaced, maybe he'll eat his carrots now. I think with Christmas in the offing, you ought to start a campaign for your own laptop, then you can talk to us when your main PC is engaged.
Hope OHs eye op went well today.
Hello Pam, Hope you find your brother much improved when you get down to Sydney - I expect you're looking forward to the break from work and the usual chores.
No Bank Holiday here Colin, maybe a Full Moon?
CC........Too much information about that cat............
Linda, I expect you've been busy in the jam factory all day with all the fruit that wanted picking.
Hi to everyone I've missed.
Tec.
Congratulations Janet, I hope that you can have a bit of a rest now
We have had as thunder storm here as well Tec, but it is still very humid
I have had a very busy day. i spent two hours at the allotment this morning. I did housework, went to the supermarket, made a large vat of soup and froze it, made bread and made lots of Raspberry and Blackcurrant jam. Phew, I think I need a sit down now.
Good evening/morning all
Janet, congratulations on your exams. I hope that your job prospect ends in fruition.
Persey, its good to see you posting again. I was beginning to think that maybe you had been beamed up to the Mother Ship!
Berona, just because the Post Office have stopped printing 1c stamps doesn't mean that I can't make my own. All it needs is a potato, a knife, paer and a little paint!.
Hello to CC, Linda, Pam, Colin and Tec
I hope that you are all well
Tecwyn Report 14 Jul 2010 22:54
Gosh Linda, you have been busy - you'll be catching up with yourself coming back soon. The humidity lifted here after the storm, and you could breath again - something to do with ions I believe. So should be easier to sleep tonight here.
CC...I had to have an op on my eyelid some time ago, carried out by an eye surgeon. Had to be awake for that too, they put my head in a head clamp so that I couldn't move a milimetre. The surgeon was being watched by a young German doctor who would hold my hand, and kept squeezing it, (most embarrassing) while every few minutes asking if I was alright. I noticed throughtout the procedure he was sweating profusely, and was in a much more state of anxiety than I was lol.
Good Morning Universal Master of the Wheelie Bins, Hope you are well today, and Mrs Allan of course.
Actually, after careful consideration, I think it would be rather fun to have Allan as President of The United States.
Would love to see him deal with Hilary, now that would be interesting lol.
Good evening Linda and Tec,
If I was in charge of a large nation, everyone would be named Lucy!
It would, of course, be a Lucy Nation :0))
Or alternatively, all cars would be pink: it would be a pink car nation!!
Tec OH is fine as am I.
All quiet on the wheelie bin front but not sure about the back and sides!
