Good evening/morning to all.

Tec, those storms sound ferocious. I hate that sort of weather.

To Linda and CC, Berona has given a spot on definition of Batching. OH is going to Pemberton today with the choir.

She has a arranged to go with some other choir members but they are not calling for her until 7.30 am, which I think is cutting it fine.

Pemberton is about 180 kms south of here, but there are some very steep hills and if you get behind any heavy transport you just crawl along.

The choir has its first rehearsal at 9.30 am!

Sad news about your neighbour's son.

I'm glad that you enjoyed the presentation.

Hello Allan - I hope you're going to behave today and clean up before you OH gets home. Your last party was on the evening news:-))

Glad you were amused Linda:-))

Good Evening Linda,
Good morning Sue,

I haven't been to the beach (Black Rock sands) at Porthmadog for a long time, but it used to be a lovely beach.

Sue, I'm sure your neighbours son will be fine with the right treatment. So glad you will visit him at home. So many people shy away from any kind of mental illness, even something as common as a nervous breakdown, but that can come to any of us.

Good Morning Allan,

I thought of you this morning, there were Wheelie Bins strewn everywhere, they had blown down off peoples driveways and ended up on their sides in the road and verges.
Looked like there had been a drunken orgy of Wheelie Bins during the night.

Allan Report 16 Jul 2010 22:38

My rant for today.

The postie delivered some mail yesterday and as he rode (They use motorbikes here) over the kerb which runs down our drive, a pile of letters fell out of his bag. Fortunately they were secured by stout elastic bands so the stayed intact.

OK, we thought, he'll notice they are missing and come back (this has happened before). Nope.

Oh well he comes past on his way back and he'll notice them then.

Nope!

Phoned the local post office to let them know. The response "We are not responsible for deliveries you'll have to contact the delivery centre."

Me "but you're the post office! You contact the centre"

Them "We are only an Agency, you'll have to do it!!"

Me "Well the ****** letters can stay where they are"

Thought better of it so phoned the number given for the local delivery centre in Bunbury and noticed that it was the National number.

Still, phoned and eventually got through to a human after pressing nearly every number on the pad. This lass was very helpful and said that she would contact the delivery centre, took my name and address and asked me to hold whilst she spoke to them.

A few minutes later she came back on and asked me to repeat the address. Her response "The delivery Centre say that no such address exists"

Me "well the ******* bundle will be going straight into the bin!!. And incidentally we have been here for 18 years, not bad for a non-existent address"

Gave her the address again

On hold again this time the response "they'll send someone round right away"

Now let me say at this juncture that the lass on the phone was very helpful and polite, and being in the Eastern States would have to be guided by our local staff"

Upshot was that almost as soon as I hung up, back comes the postie. He'd realised that he had lost some post and had a good idea where. He was actually on his way back to our house when the Delivery Centre contacted him to advise him of my phone call.

All in all spent a couple of frustrating hours just trying to be civic minded!

Bl**dy bureaucrats

Linda, I'll make sure that I'll put a few leeks in the pot, which means that I will at least have to clean the hob where the liquid has leaked :0))

Sue, the party this time will be even wilder: Dancing girls, loose women, I may even find time to play the Strumpet Voluntary :0))

Allan,
I have been to a few Aussie parties of the type you describe, but in Sydney. I am shocked to know such things go on in WA. :))

Bureaucracy is very frustrating, Allan. I well remember how long it took to convince a private medical insurance company that my father had passed away even having sent off a stamped copy of his death certificate. It took 3 months before they stopped taking payments out of mum's bank account. All the silly girl could say was "he'll have to write a letter".

Dancing girls? loose women? Is that your idea of a wild party? You have to put it on F/Book or MySpace and wait for the gate-crashers and bikie gangs to arrive. The neighbours will love it:-))

Tec, those drunken wheelie bins were the first of my guests to be ejected :0))

We can do quite nicely for parties in WA. Usually have to get the riot police out and that's just for the shenanigans at the Senior Citizens rooms :0))

Did you empty your piggy bank to pay for it Allan?

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 16 Jul 2010 23:08

I absolutely hate having to phone anywhere "Official" The last frustrating experience was with the company that supplies me with bulk gas. I pay by Direct Debit, equal monthly payments. Because last winter was so severe, I realised I needed to inject extra cash into the account to keep up with consumption.
The gas company said they had no record of me as a customer, or the payments, although I had been a customer for ten years.
It took over an hour on the phone beingf passed from one dept to another, having to suffer that awful music, before I could convince somebody that I had an account, and they had taken thousands of pounds off me over ten years.
By the time I came off the phone I'm sure I had visibly aged, and my blood pressure would have reached dizzy heights.

No need Linda, When we went to Perth recently for my great nephew's first birthday, I pinched his piggy bank when on one was looking!

I've still got some change left :0))

Allan

SueMaid Report 16 Jul 2010 23:15

You would still have change - it's my experience that young children have bigger bank accounts than adults. My 4 grandchildren have healthy accounts.

What a cruel uncle you are Allan!

We have the opposite problem Tec, every year the power company want to increase the monthly payments by far too much. We ended up with far too much credit. Trying to persuade them that we don't need such a huge increase is akin to banging your head on the wall

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 16 Jul 2010 23:22

Linda, That happens to us with electricity - if you multiply all that credit held in their bank, by the thousands of customers involved, it's a fair source of revenue to them isn't it?
