Good evening Amanda, Linda and CC

Good morning Persey and Sue.

Persey, it may be a case of Styx and stones etc.

All this talk about eyes made think about the new eye hospital that is proposed for Bunbury. The land has already been cleared.

it is a site fore sore eyes :0)).

I have purchased a bacon hock and will be making a batch of Pea and Ham soup soon.

Blimey Linda ! an allottment with no taps .....that's harsh .

But there is a lot to be said for letting plants get on with it when they are bigger .....I think it makes for stronger plants in general .

I'm really looking forward to the sweetcorn this year , my plants are the best I've ever grown : ))

Sue, I hope your OH's car didn't end up costing too much. Ours seemed to be making a knocking noise from the back, when OH looked her saw that the bracket which supports the fuel filler pipe had broken. It was just a bad spot weld which had come adrift. The garage put a couple of tie wraps round it and ordered the part. that is going to be £111 just for the part, labour will be extra.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 21 Jul 2010 22:52

Good morning Allan, on top form I see, we will have to keep an eye on you

There was a water supply Amanda, in fact the meter is on our allotment. The pipe goes over a field and the farmer ploughed it up, it was going to cost £500 to repair it and the committee won't pay it. All water is now metered around here, so they probably would have awful difficulty in trying to work out who had used what.

Hello - I thought I was on my own:-))

No-one laughed at my "eye" joke so I'm not laughing at yours Allan. My second batch of pea and ham disappeared as quickly as the first. We discovered some breadrolls in the freezer department that are partly baked. 15 minutes in the oven and they come out hot and crusty. Just perfect with soup.

Just a question about allotments. Can you sell your produce from your patch? There is a group of allotments not far from us and if you catch anyone there you can buy their vegetables if they are happy to sell.

No one sells anything from the allotment Sue., we use everything we grow, I do give things to the next door neighbour if I have too much.
Some people have very large plots and can't possibly eat everything, but no one sells direct

I thought your joke was funny Sue

Allan Report 21 Jul 2010 23:00

lol Linda

A man was walking down the street when he sees something falling form one of the first storey flats.

He catches it and is amazed to see that it is a false eye.

As he is standing there a beautiful women runs from the flat and thanks the man, saying that it is here false eye.

She invites him in, cooks him a fantastic dinner, and then makes passionate love with him.

The following morning, after a sumptious breakfast, the exhausted man asks the woman if she does this with every man she meets.

She responds "No! Only for those men who catch my eye!"

Tut Allan, putting smutty jokes on Sue's thread

That sounds miserable Linda . In our area there is an allotment "association " which all the separate allotment sites are part of .
It throws up some petty politics but it also has more sway in some ways .
We rattled our Hoes and managed to squeeze funds out of the association for a new path and taps last year ( mind you they where the first " improvements " we have seen in the 12 or so years we have been there )...lol

Allan ......your sharp as a sharp thing this morning.......lol

Good Morning/Evening Everyone,

Perse, Good to see you here. It's the week of the Royal Welsh Agricultural Show here, and they were holding the World Sheep Shearing Championships. New Zealand won, a shearer named Dave Fagan was the fastest. He is apparently the champion in NZ - well done NZ.

We had some sunshine today Amanda, in between heavy downpours.

Linda, It was me who asked about the tree, I thought it was a larch, but a cedar tree is gorgious - glad it's a slow growing variety though.

CC.....Your Chinese is improving - I have the original 45 of that record, but thank you for sending it via e-mail - Diolch yn fawr iawn i chi.

Hello to Sue, and Allan.........hope you are well today.

Good evening Linda and Amanda, good morning Sue and Allan. Did I miss anyone? Good morning/evening if I did.

Linda - at last I've caught you before you retire for the night! I am getting up earlier - gradually going back to old habits. How is the beautiful Eve?

Sue - is your cold improving? I hope so. Take care.

Allan - you haven't been walking this morning, have you? I believe we had a temp of 1 degree overnight. How is yours? We should reach 16 at best to-day and that's not enough for me!

Allan

Allan Report 21 Jul 2010 23:05

Not smutty, Linda, a very pale shade of blue!

I could have posted the one about a 'lady of the night' who had a false eye, which is a very dark shade of blue, almost black :0))

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 21 Jul 2010 23:06

I have to admit that was a good one, Allan:-))

Linda - OH's car is just an old one that he uses for football. It smells of DeepHeat. It didn't cost anymore than we expected so no nasty surprises there. If anything major happened to it we wouldn't get it fixed.

Amanda - I love fresh sweetcorn. At our local market on Sundays there is a stand that sells sweetcorn on a stick dripping with butter. Smells lovely.

Good morning Berona

Good evening Tec

Berona, as a matter of fact I didn't go walking this morning which is a pity as I missed my usual rubbishy chats with the bins. I was out last night and by the time I got back I watched a few shows OH had recorded for me and went to bed later than normal!

My goodness - did I miss you, Tec? I'm so sorry. How could I forget you when I'm practicing my dancing every day - waiting for our cruise.
Hope both you and the duchess are keeping well.

Hello Berona...nice to meet you : )

Sue , regarding folks selling their allotment produce . We are not supposed to , it's part of the rules and regulations.....having said that , one of the chaps on our plot ( part of the board don't you know ) has a little stall outside his house and is often bragging about how many hens eggs he shifts a week.
When my OH was leaving the site the other day a passer by stopped him to ask if he knew where to purchase organic veg at a reasonable price ( as he had a family member with cancer and they wanted good food to help fight the horrendous fight ) . OH said " been where you are mate " and gave him a cabbage and some peas and told him about the stall and where it was etc .

Tec ...pleased to see you haven't been swept away in a deluge...lol

We can't have animals on the allotment Amanda

Amanda2003 Report 21 Jul 2010 23:25

We are allowed hens ( but we haven't gone that far yet as it's quite a commitment ) .
