Amanda, we used to keep hens at home when the children were younger.

despite all the dire warnings we found that they were really no trouble apart from having to clean the coop out. But in exchange for that we got the eggs and a constant supply of fertiliser.

Having said that, at least we could keep a permanent eye on them. If they were on an allotment, someone else could be tempted to take the eggs, or even the birds.

Good Morning Berona,

I thought you had forsaken me, and went into a mega sulk, especially after me sending huge bouquets, Belgian chocolates, champagne, diamonds from Cartier. Pleased you're still practising the dancing, but I'm feeling my age, so be gentle with me.

Sue......I did say I hoped you were well:))

Allan, I hope you were out in respectable company last night,

Tec.

You sure do, Tec:-))

I've just had a message from Diane and she passes on her love to all. Still on holidays but not feeling too good at the moment.

Good night Linda - yes I have noticed but I'm not one to sulk:-)

Sue.....I do hope you are getting over your cold and snuffles .

Allan .....the allotment is only a 10 minute walk away but they would need to be attended at least twice a day and we only go up there about three times a week..........so I don't think we ought to take the plunge into livestock . If I could have them at home that would be a different matter but I'm in a council house and I think it would be frowned on : (

Tec, I couldn't afford diamonds for OH so she had to settle on just the carrot weight: about 1 Kg. :0))

Amanda,

There are Council bye-laws about keeping chickens were we live and we were able to comply with most of them as they related to numbers of birds and the way in which they were kept so as not to cause any offence to neighbours etc.

The keeping of Roosters (Cockerels) is a big no-no because of the noise!

I am feeling just fine Amanda - thank you.

I'm afraid that I'm a diamond girl. I love diamonds more than any coloured gem. I should have married a millionaire:-))

We are allowed to keep chooks but roosters are a definate no-no. I remember as a child waking up to the sound of a rooster crowing. I loved it but my parents would complain about the noise.

Goodnight Linda,
sleep well - don't sulk.

Allan, Times are hard, a bag of carrots are a lot more useful than diamonds, you can't put diamonds in a stew - well you can - but?

Someone has a rooster near me, I'm not sure where he is, but I hear him every morning - what with him and the sheep, what a racket!

Diamonds are forever, Tec.

We have our very own Diamond mines in WA up in the Kimberleys.

I should have married a millionaire too Sue - but there just wasn't enough of them to go around!

It is said that you should marry for love the first time and for money the next time. Well, I did the first part of it. I'm still waiting for the second part to happen.

A friend of mine has a cockerel , she got an egg for one of her broody hens and he was hatch , fluffy little innocent chick , all pretty and everything........ not the same story a few months on though.......lol
He is a nasty blighter and she has had complaints about noise and is trying to re-home him.......umm.... I think she will be on a hiding to nothing with that one .

Goodnight Tec.

Berona don't think I could be bothered with a "second time". I wouldn't know where to look for a millionaire and I even if I found one I don't think he'd be interested in a middle-aged grandma:-))

Amanda - I know what I'd do with it but I guess the animal activists wouldn't like it:-))
