Goodnight Diane - it's great having you back.
CC - now you've done it. You must sit down and relax. I suggest no dancing on the weekend. Dear me.

Hello
Welcome back to Diane!
To answer your question Sue yes I I do sit down only to fall asleep :) Just everything seemed to happen at once here.
It is so cold here in the mornings and I think that rain is on its way for next week ! This house is alot bigger than the one we were in before and very open plan so looking forward to summer already.
Well I must be off have football today and then to the other house as I am still running that until next week.
~~~~~~Berona, Sue, Allan, Diane, CC, Carole, Pam, Persey, Colin, Amanda, Linda, Dianne~~~~~~~~ to anyone I have missed.
Keep smiling :)))
No one around?
Janet, you will be exhausted if you keep this up. Still once the old house is gone, hopefully you can take things at a slower pace.
Allan, the photos were very interesting, it is amazing that the old church is still standing, given that it is just a glorified shed (ooh I made a joke without realising it).
Good morning to all in the UK and good evening to all Aussies and Kiwis
Linda, it is still more miraculous given that the Church is on a very busy read and that it is near the intersection with an even busier main road.
I was unable to take any photos of the interior, as the church is locked these days thanks to a minority of our local youth!
I do have some pics taken a few years ago of the inside but I'm having difficulty finding them on my system.
Hence the reason for cataloguing all my photos, both printed and electronic.
I have sorted out my printed ones broadly into eras and will now be able to do more detailed work on them.
Sorry Janet, I forgot to acknowledge you :0((
I seem to be doing that more often these days, so please don't feel slighted>
I'll soon reach a situation where I have not acknowledged everyone.
Very clumsy grammar, but you know what I mean!
Nobody around? Oh well. I just want to let Allan know I received the photos, thanks. Everything looks so spacious and peaceful. Is it like that everywhere?
Nice to see Diane back with us again. Welcome back. You might have someone to talk to after midnight now. CC is an insomniac and seems to be on this thread at all hours of the day and night. That won't stop me from reminding you when it's past your bedtime - but I can't really do that until I sort my own sleep out! I am waking at around 6-7am and I make for the bathroom, switching the heater on as I go, but this morning I forgot the heater, so when I got back to the bedroom, the bed looked so inviting that I slipped into it - and woke up two hours later!
hello Berona,
the photos may be a bit deceptive, but yes, compared to some places we do have afair amount of space.
Don't forget that although WA occupies approximately one third of Australia, we only have a population of just over two million, of whom one and a half million live in the Greater Perth area, so there is plenty of space.
However, given the desert regions, 90% of the population live on or near the coast.
Hi whoever is around:-)
Allan - thank you so much for the photos. The foreshore area looks similar to our lake foreshore. When I get chance I shall take some photos and you can compare. Although we can't see the lake it is only a 5 minute drive from our place. There are cycleways and walking paths as well as picnic and bbq areas all around the lake. Very popular with large family groups.
Hello Janet - hope you're settling into your new home. It must be easier moving into a bigger house than it would be to downsize. Did you move to a bigger place because the boys are growing at an alarming rate? Having a tall OH and two tall boys there was a time when there seemed to be long legs everywhere.
Berona - hope you enjoyed your day. We went for a drive up to Cambelltown today and had a walk around the enormous shopping centre - MacArthur Square. Didn't spend much but enjoyed a good look around and lunch.
Greetings from the Principality
Another wet soggy day here - fine drizzle all day, we call it mountain mist, but it's more soaking than anything, as walkers and ramblers will tell you.
Not feeling very energetic, or that my brain was sufficiently in gear to tacle my tree, I gathered up all my shoes, and some of the Duchesses, and various shades of shoe polish and now all the shoes are sparkling. How boring you may say, but I find it quite therapeutic. A little bit of spit on the toes makes all the difference.
Thank you Allan for the most interesting pictures. It is good to see how well maintained and preserved those buildings appear to be. I've always been interested in ancient church and cathedral architecture. Some of the old Welsh chapels built in Victorian times are fascinating. It seems that each denomination tried to outdo each other in grandeur. When you consider the poverty in the Welsh villages at the time, I find it incredible that those places were built out of public subscription.
Thank you CC for the music - very nice.
Good Evening CC......
Yes thank you - the Duchess enjoyed listening to the music, reclining on the chaise longue in the morning room. China tea using the George 111 silver tea service, out of bone china Royal Albert, acccompanied by cucumber sandwiches, and caraway seed cake.
Good evening / good morning to everyone .
All this chatter of elegant tea and posh sandwiches has made me hungry . I know there is a slightly rancid cucumber lurking in my fridge but I just don't think it will cut the mustard .
CC thank you for letting me see the pics of your gem stones . They are a splendid collection ( and so nicely displayed ) .
I've had a bit of a wasted day today . OH thought he would take me for a drive to look for tropical fish in a shop we haven't visited before , I hadn't realised I was supposed to be the navigator ( a task I hate above all others ) .............we never found said shop ..........but I think he had a cunning plan anyway because we ended up at a " Yacht supplies " shop instead , where he was able to purchase his bottle of " Captain Tolleys Creeping Crack Cure " ( yes , it IS a genuine product and he has been blathering on about it since he discovered one of the windows has sprung a leek )................I expect that tomorrow he will be creeping off out to cure his crack ...............LOL
lol Amanda, that sounds so funny.
Tec, some of my mothers ancestors set out for Australia in the 1840.s, they made money by opening a timber yard in Geelong in Victoria and money was sent back to build a Methodist Chapel in Denby dale in Yorkshire. Over the years lots more of the family ended up in Geelong as well/
Good Evening Amanda,
There are a few cucumber sandwiches left if you'd like, a bit curled at the edges now though :((
I was looking at my neighbours tropical fish this morning - we had them at one time, but didn't bother when we moved, so I sold the tank etc, it's a nice hobby though.
I didn't realise you had your own yacht - wow that's posh, Monte Carlo or Cannes? lol. I am intrigued by Captain Tolleys CCC, sounds good.
Hello Linda , Hello Tec ,
I 'll pass on the curled sandwiches thank you..... I made do with Marmite....lol
Please don't be decieved by the word Yacht , the leaking window is a bit of a clue as to her state / age . She is a modest little thing and certainly not up to the floating " Gin palace " standard of the high brow places you have mentioned Tec .........much more at home in the tatty little " marina " near Oulton Broad............lol Captain Tolleys CCC has afforded us a few giggles , it is such a funny name...............I hope it works though as the leak is getting worse .
I only have a small fish tank in the kitchen and my Cory Dora just died so I was hoping to find a new one or two to replace her .
That's interesting Linda, maybe folk who had made good abroad sent money back to support the chapels and churches. I do know that no matter how poor people were, they were expected to support their chapel. If you didn't then the Deacon or Minister would come calling. This was still happening in the 1940s, my MIL was a war widow, and was made to feel ashamed when she refused to support the chapel, because she couldn't afford anything, and told them so.
