I'm an early riser Amanda - 8 o'clock is a good lie in for me. I was hoping for a cuppa in bed but OH sleeps on.

I love being on the water. Big ship little boat it doesn't bother me.

Your a braver woman than I Sue : )

I ought to give it another go , it really was just one of those things last time ...........but .........that's sailing , and it can cut up a bit choppy at the drop of a hat ( especially I'm told in the North Sea ) .

OH is going out on Wednesday with one of his mates .....I'd much rather stay home and potter in my garden ....lol

Amanda - when we went on our cruise in April I was embarrassed to admit that on the first full day of sailing I was so sick. It was grey and miserable and the ocean was rolling. I never thought I'd be so sick - and by the looks of it half the ship was too. When I got up the next morning it was beautiful and I was fine for the rest of the trip. Did you look at my cruise photos on FB?

Yes Sue I did ....the sunset / rise ones are most impressive . It was a huge boat wasn't it , more like a floating hotel ( which in essence it is I suppose ) .

Funnily enough being on our boat didn't make me feel sea sick at all . It was an altogether different thing ......pure terror........lol

I really am off to bed now , the dogs are pestering to go up stairs so goodnight xx

Would that be your own shadow, CC? Just a guess.
Just showing the flag before I hit the sack. Goodnight to those on my side of the world.
Have a nice day everyone else.

Good evening thread. I have been doing charitable deeds today. When I went to see my neice a couple of weeks ago, I forgot to give her a birthday present for the week before. I had sent her a card with IOU a birthday pressie written in it, but managed to forget.
She has just moved into a rented house with her boyfriend. Poor souls have nothing as she has not long finished her degree and he is still a student. They were delighted to have lots of stuff from mums house and I was pleased to see it go to good use.
Anyway she had acquired a cafetiere but didn't have any real coffee so I started there. I bought some, but then kept going, I ended up with a large box of goodies, plus lots of fresh stuff for the allotment. Needless to say she was delighted with it, we also took them out for Sunday lunch

Good Evening Linda............

What a kind thing to do, I'm sure the young couple really appreciated your kindness. It must be really difficult for young couples starting out now.
We rented a flat when we were first married - it was a huge flat, a maisonette, I think they call them. We had very little to put in it, and what we did have was second hand.
A helping hand from anyone would have been very welcome, but we were happy all the same.

Good Evening CC,

The maisonette we had was on two floors, unlike a flat all on one floor. It was above a bank in the High Street, a 30ft lounge, that we furnished with a small two seater sofa, a coffee table, and an old tv - that was it - it was a bit like sitting in Euston Station main concorse. The kitchen and bathroom belonged in the Victorian era - and we hated it there too.
Then we later bought our first house, a detached 3 bed dormer bungalow for £4,000 - we thought that was expensive lol.

Good evening Cc and Tec

This is my favourite niece (I only have two, the other one would benefit from a personality transplant) she is sweet but is suffering from bad health problems. despite this she really tries hard,so it is nice to play the indulgent aunt.

When we first married we bought a brand new three bedroomed house, i must admit with the help of a timely legacy. That was after years of living in grotty student accommodation, so it was like stepping up into another world

Every house we've owned has wanted works carried out. This one was the biggest project of all. The house is 100 yrs old, and wanted everything doing from the ground up. Nothing had been done here for at least 40 yrs. Re-wiring, plumbing, damp course, central heating, new windows. New floor in the kitchen, complete new kitchen and bathroom., etc etc etc.
It has been a never ending job, but it was all we could afford, this area is ridiculously expensive, and we were determined to live in the area.
I have no regrets, and wouldn't want to live anywhere else. I just wish we had been a bit younger when we started.
