Good morning/evening. Hope you are all well.

When we were newly wed we lived in a small one bedroom flat. We had second hand everything except the bed and a 3 piece lounge suite. We managed to pick up bits and pieces leading up to our wedding. I also had a glory box which my mother and I added to regularly so I had a very well equipped kitchen and linen cupboard. My daughter also had a glory box before she married. We had little money but managed to buy our home after 3 years. My parents were shocked at the price of our home which was very modest but then we are amazed at how much young couples pay for a house these days.

Hellooooo

Up with the birds this morning and the rain!!

Two of my boys have football injuries over the weekend one resulting in a dislocated finger so we spent a afternoon at emergency yesterday! Hopefully he may be back to play for the grand finals. My youngest son had someone step on his finger and the skin has moved down to the base of his nail but he was able to play on (ouch) Its hard being a mum on the sideline wanting to run out to comfort!

Sue, we did move as we had outgrown the other house, this will be our third move. The boys are so tall and skinny, and seem to be able to consume any food and not put on any weight ( grrrrrrr). I am only just on 5ft so they tower above me !!!

Hope all had a great weekend, keep smiling :))

Good Morning Sue,

I hope you are well too - I think when you start off with very little and build up slowly, it does make you appreciate what you have achieved.
I remember someone in the family getting married some years ago - with the wedding invitation came a printed list of wedding gifts required. Each person to tick what they were buying. Everything was of the most expensive type, and there was a note where these things could be purchased. Specific makes and design of china etc was listed.
I thought that was very cheeky - we ignored the list and bought what we thought was appropriate.

Hello Janet,
I hope your boys will soon recover. It never gets any better no matter how old they get, wanting to protect them i mean

Hello CC, Tec and Janet!!

Tec - we have also had these lists with a wedding invitation. One list including pieces towards a setting of Royal Doulton dinnerware and accessories. Also a very expensive set of saucepans.

The most amazing request was from our nephew and his bride-to-be who asked for money towards their overseas honeymoon. A note told us that payments could be made at the local travel agency. We were quite shocked.

Janet - hope your boys recover. I well remember those days of sport. Our youngest now does martial arts and hurt his neck awhile back. So it doesn't necessarily stop when they grow up. My boys tower over me too:-))

In one way, i don't mind the lists as long as they are comprehensive and have lots of smaller items on them so people can buy a selection, or just one thing if they can't afford it. At least the couple get what they want and don't get duplicates. i hate the ones which are on public show though, so you can see what everyone is buying

Good morning/evening all

Just to add to Janet's comment about the rain, we have had nearly an inch fall overnight. It is very welcome and is forecast to continue for the rest of the week!

At least we didn't have the wind!

CC, very many thanks for your email. When I say that my OH is in a choir, the choir does not sing any 'traditional' church music, but mainly modern hymns.

However I am toatlly into Plain Chant, Gregorian Chant, and I totally adore good old Dame Hildegaard.

Our first house was a Council House which went with the job at the Macclesfield Rural District Council. It was just on the edge of Macclesfield Forest, but was way too big for just the two of us. We had the same problem of being relatively newly wed and trying to furnish the place.

CC that is where the problem lays with me telling them off, when they just lean on my shoulder. I often say do I look like a lampost ?? or when they all jump on me do I look like a bean bag?? Only have to walk into my sons room and he practices his tacking on me (football). I hate having my feet tickled and that when they get m everytime the all hold me down and tickle my feet!!!

Well my alarm has just gone off so I best be waking up:))) Off to start my day !! Have a great sleep/day everyone

keep smiling:)))

CC - we really enjoyed the children when they were little. Much easier than when they "growed" up. At least you know where they are and what they're doing. Having said that - we got through the teen years relatively easily without any great dramas.

Bye Janet - enjoy your day. Did you say you start your new job tomorrow (Tues.)? Good luck.

Good Morning Janet,
Good Morning Allan,

Janet I hope you are getting straight after your move - is it this Tuesday you start the new job? Good Luck, I hope it all goes well for you.

Allan, That's a lot of rain, but you seem to need it, will push those peas and beans up.
We had two inches of rain over two days last week, which wasn't so welcome as it's summer time.

Linda, What's coming up at the allotment now?

good evening/morning all
Sorry I'm late but I fell asleep at 6-30pm and didn't wake up till about an hour ago.

CC I was diagnosed with FM about 5yrs ago after complaining for some time about all the aches and pain's and a number of the symptom's that go along with FM. My Dr didn't tell me anything about it so I learnt what I did on the internet and was surprised at all the thing's that can be put down to it, too numerous to mention.

I have lived in all kind's of living accommidation from 1bedroom flat with 2 children and a husband to 4 bedroom house and 3 children. I now live in a 2 bedroom flat with the youngest of my children, and unfortunatly have never been in a possition to own any of the property's.
After my husband ( when I had one ) left the army are first place was a 2 bed flat off the council and we only had the bare essential's like bed wardrobe sideboard of which came from one of his parent's neighbour's, we then spent the first day picking up a second hand ( plastic ) three piece suite and buying a 3x4 carpet square for the living room the other item's we had were crockery and towel's which had been wedding present's. Not much but it is amazing how you could cope with so little in the early day's, today's couple's want everything at once and wouldn't know how to cope with so little. Needless to say I don't own my own house and I have since got rid of hubby but I do have all that I need to call a home lol.

It has taken me so long to get this post up that there may not be any-one around to read it lol.

When I came home this afternoon, there was a message on the answer phone from little Eve. She makes strange little squeaking noises all of the time, even when she is asleep. They are getting no rest, but that goes with the territory I suppose.

Thanks CC

I'm not a religious person in the accepted sense of the term, but I do love traditional Church Music and chant, particularly the Eastern orthodox Church.

I went with OH to her church on a couple of occasions, and was really absorbed by the service.

Funnily enough the Ukrainian Catholic Church, although based on Eastern Orthodox Services is affilliated to the Roman Catholic Church.

We also started a bottom drawer when we got engaged and we also started a joint bank account. I remember selling my old bomb of a Hillman Imp to get us started.

I think that I got ₤150.00 for it back in 1968

Hello Diane and Sue

Diane, OH and myself were only talking the other day about the young ones wanting everything right away.

We always looked forward to saving for something and then going and buying it!

It's the same with food. People talk about the cost of meat etc, but we always have bought the cheaper cuts of meat etc. Just as tasty and tender as the expensive ones if cooked properly!
