Bye Janet, Enjoy your day,

Linda, That must be the earliest call on record from a Grand daughter lol.

Good Evening Diane, Hope you return to work wasn't too hard.

When my daughter was first born we had her in a cot beside our bed. I would lay awake at night listening to funny little noises as she breathed. If the noises stopped I would leap out of bed to check she was breathing - after many nights of this, my OH suddenly said "Oh for heavens sake, anymore of this and I'm going to sleep in the spare room" lol.

Bit lat with this but
goodnight Linda have a nice sleep hun.

Enjoy your day Janet and hope the boy's injury's heal well.

Allan young couple's today think nothing of going thousand's of pound's into dept and living on the never never, part of the fun of having a bottom draw as we called it yrs ago was the achievment (sp) of getting a collection of thing's we could call our own and know it was all payed for.

Goodnight Linda - sleep tight. You're really enjoying being a grandma aren't you:-))

Hello Diane. Yes the young ones want everything at once.

Luckily - unlike some young people - my lot aren't in over their heads with debt. They aren't credit card fiends although they all have one - thankfully with low limits. We always taught them to make their money work for them and so far they seem to manage very well.

Ah Tec! The father's concern for his daughter. I think that we have all been through that!

Diane, even today although we can afford things, we still think twice before buying anything saying "Yes we want it, but do we need it?"

We then leave of buying it and generally we realise that we didn't really want or need it in the first place.

As for going into debt, my parents were dead set against things like hire purchase!

Hi Tec, my first day back at work was hard going as most of the morning was spent helping my employer's mum get all the washing and ironing done, then we went shopping as she needed to re-supply her fridge with fresh food. By the time I got home my back was in a lot of pain hence the reason I fell asleep fpr so long. Tommorrow I will finnish off the ironing, could do with Allan being there lol.

Hi Sue and Allan hope you are enjoying your day and that it is not too cold for you both, we had a dry day but it was warm and windy.

Allan, My daughter's now 47 yrs old, married, with a teenage daughter of her own - I'm still concerned lol.

Allan - we're like that. We tend to look around, research different brands etc. whenever we have a new purchase in mind. As for small purchases it's definately a needs thing. When we put in a new kitchen I got rid of a lot of old stuff we never used so I definately don't want to clutter up my new cupboards:-))

The best thing we did was to have the skip delivered to the house. We sorted out the garage and shed and got rid of over 30 years of accumulated rubbish.

Diane, I like ironing as well as Allan - we could pop over and share it between us if it helps - but Allan can do the shirts lol.

Diane - it is cold and cloudy. We had a little rain yesterday and possibly will have more today.

Tec - do we ever stop being concerned about our children. Things aren't too good between my sister and I and my poor mum is really quite upset about it.

Sue - Would you care to come here and de-clutter this place - I'll pay for the convoy of skips - you can be ruthless. :))

It's funny how when you have very little ( as I did in the early yrs ) you seem to manage better, I brought up my children on my own after I divorced my X and wasn't working until the youngest was 15yrs old ( he is now 25yrs ) when I started work I had a lot more money comeing in so was able to get a credit card ( the first I'd ever had ) that worked out fine until I became unemployed after 3yrs that was then the first time I ended up in dept, I got rid of credit card and vowed never to get into that situation again, once back in work 12mths later I paid the dept off and still don't have a credit card as I don't want to be in that situation again.

Tec - a convoy of ships!?! Is it really that bad? Did you know that de-cluttering brings about a sense of peace and well-being? Well - that's what the experts say:-))

Allan Report 25 Jul 2010 23:55

Tec, I don't mind ironing shirts: I've had almost 40 years experience!

Sue, OH and I have talked about a skip!

We should do what my daughter and her partner did. They had a garage sale last Saturday with some big (costly) items and some not so costly. As soon as the garage sale was over, any of the lesser items were taken straight to the dump.

In our case everything gets hauled back into the house which tends to negate the whole process

Good morning/evening to all.

Diane - great to see you back. I'll be watching you to make sure you get to bed!

Unusual - but this morning, I awoke to the sound of rain!!!
Only a pitter patter and it has stopped now and the sun is shining - but I haven't heard rain on the roof for quite a while!

I finally worked out how to set my aircon to come on automatically in the morning - and for once, it wasn't hard to get out of bed! I turned it on automatically in previous winters, but couldn't remember how I did it and couldn't understand the instructions. Well, it works now - so up goes the bill, I suppose. Lucky we are nearly into August, so I won't be doing it for long (hopefully).

Tecwyn Report 25 Jul 2010 23:57

Sue -

I could do with a sense of well being and peace LOL,

I didn't say a convoy of SHIPS, I said skips - even I couldn't fill ships with junk - though looking around?

Diane, OH and I have a credit card, but with a very low limit and only use it in emergencies. Once we have used it, the outstanding amount is paid back in full.

Good Morning Berona,

Hope you are well today!
Glad you've fixed the air-con, no excuse for laying in bed now lol. You just managed to appear before I skip off to bed. I am getting "the look"

Diane, The interest the credit card companies charge is nothing short of legalised robbery - I wouldn't advise anyone to have one. I had one for a while, 'till I realised how much it was costing me if I didn't clear it each month - soon got rid of it.
