Yes Tec please come, your welcome to take over lol.
Sue I'm sorry I haven't got round to answering your e-mail, as you have put it on the thread about your sister I can reply here, it is a sad thing when you have a disagreement with a sibling and hard for the person stuck in the middle ( like your mum ) you don't want to be seen takeing side's and it can be hard not giveing your oppinion on the situation. It is the same for me ( as the mother ) with my son ( who I am not speaking with ) and my daughter, when she visit's her brother she is the one stuck in the middle and find's it hard to mention her visit's to him to me. I still love him ( after all he is my son ) I just find we don't see thing's the same way and he has a lot of resentment toward's me and his dad, long story and far to complicated to tell on the thread. I hope you and your sister sort thing's out soon hun.

CC, it's not just the C of E that's welalthy, the Vatican also has immense wealth.
I was also reading about a church in Australia, called Hillsong and because of it's charitable status in Australia it pays no tax. The church raked in 17 million dollars last financial year compared with 16 million the year before. All members are supposed to give a tithe of their income to the church.
The founder is a very wealthy man, although to hear him talk he has nothing brcause it all belongs to the church!

I think credit cards can be good or bad according to the holder's attitude. Unfortunately, too many people use them to buy things they can't afford and that's trouble.
I have always gone home to think about a purchase before going back a second time after making my decision. Also, the money must always be there in the bank, or I wouldn't think of making the purchase. (None of this 'it'll be there by the time I pay it' for me!). I then only use the card as a way of paying for things rather than having to go to the bank to make a withdrawal.
These days, I use my credit and eftpos cards for everything - and pay them by internet. I don't have much money with me and I have an extra card in my daughter's name. Almost all of my purchasing is done by mail order or online - even my food is now delivered and all paid for by eftpos. Any unusual or large purchase is done by my daughter (as I can't stay on my legs long enough to wander around department stores) and she uses the card. All I do, is keep an eye on my bank accounts by internet and pay everything the same way.

I also pay all my bills over the internet - something that fills my mother with horror.
I must be off to start my day. A good day to my Aussie friends and sleep well my Pom friends. Take care.

Have a good day Sue. I got here a little earlier - but have to admit that I must go now and get my shower. I have been sitting here in my dressing gown. Talk later.

Good night Tec and hope you and OH have a good night's sleep. I will be gone soon, but as I said in last post not tired yet.
I went to Sunday school as did all my brother's and sister's and enjoyed it, especially when we went for trips out and had pinic lunch.
As an adult I didn't go to church until I was 21yrs old and that came about as it was the vicar's wife who I was introduced to by some-one when I needed support after splitting up with my husband, I was very low and not haveing any family around at the time to support me and haveing to cope with 2 very young children 15mths and 3yrs old she was a big help and sat and talked to me about the problem's I had. After about 6mths when I was copeing a lot better I decided to start going to church, I know what you say about the church haveing all this money but the vicar and his wife of the church I attended were just your every day sort of people and were like myself liveing in a council area and had the same kind of life style as all the other resident's on the estate. They to me were no different to me and maybe that is why I got very involved with this church for a number of yrs. When I moved away from the area I joined a church local to myself and went there for some yrs but then I moved again and didn't find a local church that I was happy in so now I rarely attend church but I do still believe and live as a christian though I don't alway's agree with the way the churches ( all denomination's ) run thing's.

Just caught your post Diane
Please, I wasn't knocking any individual in the respective churches, the vast majority of whom are very dedicated and do a fantastic job, but the Organisation itself.

I think I will fit in. I am as mad as the rest of you. 45 years marrried. Just have to find out what button to press. It has taken an hour to find the thread. Why isn't the last first? My hustband's mother was a Llewellyn so we have the Welsh background so I see he is known as OH. He is fine but my mind works on another sphere. (There is a five year age difference perhaps that's where the difference lies.) I am thinking of taking up ballroom dancing but his back prevents that thought of a partner there. I still work. Cannot comment on all the number of subjects that have arisen since Friday when I posted my first comment. Had a glory box, taught Sunday School, had a 3 bed room house as a wedding present from OH. Have 2 sons. Only 5 ft high Scottish background, 6' 2" soldier son. Beautiful 2nd home. Academic background. A dreamer. Live on the computer. Why not last posting first? Travel a lot. You all sound interesting. Dianne with 2 nns.

Hi Dianne with 2nns,
Good to see you back here. I thought we had frightened you off - as you have seen we have our manic moments, but can discuss serious issues too, I am not normally on at this time, it's 11-15 am in the UK, but came on to check e-mails. When you come on the thread, if you click on "Last Reply" at the top of the page, it will show you the latest postings. Maybe you know this, if so, apologies. Well, I must away as the days duties call - I expect it is nearly bedtime for you, so have a goodnight.
Tec.

Hello Dianne, good to see you back. As Tec said, click on last reply (I have to do it twice) and it turns the thread around. You have to read from the bottom of the page up, but you soon get used to it
I wouldn't say we are interesting, just quaint!
I can just see you in a sparkly evening gown, twirling around the floor. Go for it, it is good to do things without husbands in tow all of the time. It adds an air of mystery lol

Question, are men blind?
The postman rang the door bell this morning and OH answered it. He said that he had found this large diamond earring on our path and wondered if it was mine I heard OH saying he wondered if it was real. I looked down form the top of the stairs and saw what appeared to be a large diamond with a circle of smaller diamonds around it. OH said he would take care of it and maybe take it to the police station. When I came down stairs, I looked at it and immediately realised it was mine. It was a plastic button from a cardigan I have. Absolutely no way could it be taken for a diamond earring. Anyway I was pleased to have found it and have sewn it firmly back into place.
