Hello Dianne with 2 nns. Glad you found your way back. You do sound as mad as the rest of us so you sure will fit in:-)) You think we sound interesting? I was thinking the same about you.

I've been so fed up with these overseas sales calls so I finally registered with the government "don't call" register. It takes a couple of weeks for the word to get around but I've started telling the callers that it's now illegal to ring our number. They hang up very quickly now. Of course the register doesn't stop political phone calls, charities etc. just those darn cold calls soliciting business.

Talking about de-cluttering energised me into sorting out the linen cupboard. I didn't throw anything out just tidied and restacked the shelves. Then I started on the cupboard under the kitchen sink. I am now feeling very virtuous:-))

Virtuous is not good Sue, sit down, open the wine and feel wicked.

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 26 Jul 2010 11:36

How funny is that Linda:-)) Men, eh?

I didn't say I was virtuous only that I felt virtuous:-)) Virtuous isn't fun and it's ever so slightly smug. I had a glass of wine with dinner. We had good old sausages and mash although the sausages were lamb and rosemary.

That was me who deleted. We all came on at the same time and all with the same advice for Dianne - so I deleted mine. And I thought I was all alone!!

Allan - when I began roaming around Friends Reunited, a new member was collecting oodles of 'friends' and busy creating new groups. I accepted his invitation to be his friend and as soon as he knew where I lived, he gave me the address of a 'great place to hear good music'. I could see it wasn't far from me so I checked it out and it was that Hillsong. They are evangelists and the FR member seems to have joined FR to recruit as many 'friends' as he can get. I deleted him as my friend and he tried again - so I just ignored him.

Good morning/evening Berona. Of course you are not alone, you are never alone, you know that.

Sue I am feeling virtuous because I have just had a quick five minute flit round with a duster and can of polish. I am also feeling guilty because I didn't do it thoroughly lol

Hello Berona.

I like watching Australian Idol - yes I know but I like it:-)) It was alleged that Channel 10 was accused of having an affiliation with Hillsong which is a pentecostal church. This occurred because 4 of the contestants were found to be Hillsong followers. Of course this was denied.

When I get a nuisance call, I always ask politely 'how did you get my number'. They usually say 'it was in our database'. I then ask 'how did it get there?'. This stumps them because they apparently don't have the answer to that in their script. I then tell them that mine is a 'private' number and they back off.
They use either a very old phone book or they have bought a mailing list. I can't stop it completely because I purchase a lot online and have to give my number for contact. That puts me on a mailing list and the list is either sold, or stolen and sold,
I feel sorry for the people who have called me since my skin became sore. I'm not as polite at the moment, as I can be.

Not sure if you can feel virtuous and guilty at the same time, Linda.

Sue - I can imagine the postal votes!!
It's ironic. My OH's nephew had a year with me in 1994/5 on a working holiday. Although basically a decent chap, he did his share of skirt chasing and drinking. Never mentioned religion although we knew his brother had gone to Sth Africa as a Pentacostal pastor.
On his return to the UK, he did the studies and became a pastor himself and I saw his photo on their website this week. I write to his mother and he seems to have a very 'cushy' life from what she tells me. Rarely drives - mostly flies - just to attend a meeting. I don't know if Hillsong was there then, but I don't intend to tell him it is only a short drive from my place. (He might come back! - and he was the laziest s*d!).

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 26 Jul 2010 12:16

So who pays for your nephew's flights when he goes to meetings? The congregation I suppose:-))

I suppose so. His wife has never worked and they have three children now. His brother's wife never worked from when she left school. Too busy working for the church - unpaid - but her parents were involved with it too.

The younger one met his wife at the place where he studied. He 'sends his love' via his Mum but never contacts us himself. I think he is afraid we will tell his wife about the wild escapades he go up to while he was here.

Good evening/morning to everyone.......... were are you all this evening ?

I looked in earlier and no one was around then either :((

well spent most of this morning finishing the ironing at work ( thank god it's all done ) back to normal tommorrow, but not to much if my back has any say in the matter.

I'll come back in a while to see if I'm talking to myself again lol

Good evening/morning all.

Welcome back Dianne, and please don't take CC at her word when she describes herself as sane. CC went swimming once, in Paris, and was definitely found to be in Seine.

Good morning Sue!

Have you found anymore diamonds, Linda? Perhaps they grow like mushrooms!

Speaking of mushrooms (what a way to introduce a totally irrelevant subject) I have started one of those home grow mushroom kits. We have had over a kilo of mushies from the first flush (no comments, please CC).

I tried these kits years ago with no success. I thought that they were a bit of a con job until one morning I looked in the garage to see one of our cats merrily chomping through the young mushrooms.

Needless to say that the cat is now deceased. Of old age I hasten to add, not from the application of a blunt instrument, nor from eating poisonous mushrooms!

Morning Sue and Allan , good evening Diane .

I can't join in with a lot of the previous chat about credit cards and home ownership ....... as I've never had the pleasure or dread of either situations .

Allan...the mushrooms sound good . I had one of those kits years ago .I kept it in the bathroom and tended it lovingly ....I got one fruiting body for my troubles ( and that took weeks to appear ) but oddly enough , when I 'd bunged it all outside in the garden , low and behold a small crop erupted as if overnight .....lol

We went to the boat today and applied the previously mentioned " Captain Tollys Creeping Crack Cure " to the leaking windows ......I do hope it works as OH is planning a day sail on Wednesday .

Good evening Amanda.

I'm going to resist making a crack about "Captains Tollys Creeping Crack Cure" as it might make me appear a creep :0))

Hello - you've all finally decided to show your faces:-))

Mushrooms? Yes - we've had mushroom kits on the go for a few years now. It gives us enough for our use, our daughter's and a handful for my mum.
