Hi Amanda, yes I do really eat pickled beetroot or just plane beetroot with stew and scouse ( liverpool local meal ) not unlike stew. My back is suffering with work but I'm doing thing's carefully and slowly.

Diane

P.S my upstair's neighbour is above my living room snoreing his head off at the moment.

good evening Tec, how's your day been, you sound just like my dad lol, (not age) but he has his special ladies when he goe's shopping who want to help him, but I'v seen my dad in action and is quite a gentleman were young women are concerned and for some reason he can charm them still even at the age of 84yrs old. Take note I'm not saying you are his age lol.

Hello Tec .....thank you ....it certainly was un-gallant of him but then he wasn't " gallant " back in the days when we where seeing each other , he made derogatory comments about my hair then ............one would have thought that by now the penny would have dropped and he'd have realised I don't hold much relevance to appearence......free spirit that I am ....lol

So , you where a Mod . Did you have a parker with a target on the back ?
and listen to the Who ?

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 27 Jul 2010 22:22

Good for your dad Diane - I like his style.
I don't think I'll be charming anyone when I'm 84 lol.

I've had enough barmy scouse friends to know that strange things do go on in Liverpool - but you're a lovely lot :))

Yes Amanda, I had the Parker, and loved the Who - gosh, you must know me lol.

Diane , I'm glad your taking it a bit easy , I suffer with back pain and have learnt over the years to pace myself .
Your Dad sounds like an charmer : ))

When we went shopping on Monday I had to laugh as they had moved the big tins of dog food from off the very top shelf to one about half way down . On previous shopping trips OH and I had been actually climbing up the shelves to get at the ones right at the back ( not out of choice , out of necessity ) ....they must have seen us I suppose ( everything is monitored these days ? ) , the last thing they would want is a customer taking a dive off there shelves.......lol
Why do they make them so stupidly high in the first place ?

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 27 Jul 2010 22:40

Amanda, as I'm quite tall it doesn't bother me, but it is stupid how they put things so high, especially heavy things - I often see shorter people tham me struggling to reach things, and am often asked to get things down for them. My OH is only 5"-2 so has always had that problem. All to do with space I suppose.
I have seen an old lady hooking things with her walking stick and catching them as they drop.

He is Amanda but he is of what I call the old school and he can be very up front as well, if he think's something isn't the way he a customer would expect it he will say so, sometime's this can be very embarrising (sp) if you are with him, I alway's remember when I went out with him for a meal that if he hadn't eaten in a particular restaurant especially if it were a chinese one he would ask if he could see the kitchen's before we ate a meal, if he wasn't happy with the state of them he would then come over to us and say not here let's go somewhere else.

Lol Tec .....I'm just glad I don't have a walking stick as I wouldn't have wanted a clunk on the head from a can of butchers tripe ( and I'd have been silly enough to try it ! ) .

Are the down unders awake yet do you think ?

And where has Diane and Linda got too ?

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 27 Jul 2010 22:56

I think the Aussies will be about soon, it's winter there so I suppose you have to be brave to get out of that warm bed too early.

Linda was on cinema duty tonight - perhaps they've locked her in.

That does sound embarrassing Diane ....lol but good for him for being so up front .

My Mum loved to go out for " slap up dinners " as she called them . After my Dad passed away we used to take her out once or twice a week . We went into a place in Beccles ( not realising how posh it was ) , we got in and sat down , picked up the menus to see such delights on offer as Quails eggs for silly money......we just looked at each other , nodded , and got up and left right sharpish .......lol

They can't lock me in Tec, I have a key to the cinema.
I have just had some things to do since I got home

Allan Report 27 Jul 2010 23:04

Amanda, we don't have pickled beetroot, but OH and myself do a great pickled red cabbage which we then have with Sheperd Pies etc.

We usually do a couple of cabbages at a time so that we always have a stock in.

Sorry I was gone for a short time I was haveing my Tea Amanda.

If one of those can's fell on you you wouldn't have a leg to stand on ( were claiming is concerned ) only and if by climbing up the shelves to reach something you had an accident then it would be deemed your fault. I have done that myself to reach something and been told by a member of staff if I were to have an accident then I wouldn't have a claim for injury, when I replied well how am I suppose to reach the said object the reply was ( ask a member of staff ) my reply to that was well i would if there were any staff around.

Hello Linda ....I hope you had a good evening : )

Amanda2003

Amanda2003 Report 27 Jul 2010 23:09

Diane .....I guessed that would probably be the case . I'm just glad they have moved the tins a bit lower down .

Allan ..... I can't eat pickled anything .....I think I've picked my innards over the years and now they won't accept vinegar things : (

Tecwyn Report 27 Jul 2010 23:09

Good Evening Linda,
Good Morning Allan,

Glad you're not locked in Linda, a spooky place when empty I should think.

I used to like pickled red cabbage Allan, but it no longer likes me, along with a lot of other acidic things.

Tec.
