No Amanda, realtively mild. It was supposed to be 7c overnight but at the moment the temp is 13c.

Thunderstorms are forecast for today and the overnight cloud cover kept the temps up.

In fact we haven't lit the fire for the last couple of days!

Good evening Linda

Hello Amanda
well I did lots of cleaning in the cinema foyer tonight,so I suppose I had a good evening.
As I am one of the tall variety Diane, i have no trouble reaching the top shelves. like tec, i often pass things down for smaller shoppers

I like pickled red cabbage as well Allan, I have always made that

I often have to get thing's for my employer's mum as she is shrinking with age and curviture of her spine, but if the thing's are on the top shelf in our sains****s and at the back I have to step onto the little lip of the bottom shelf to reach the item.

Linda......that doesn't sound like you really had a good evening ....unless of course you really enjoy cleaning ?

Allan ....when does your Spring time start , does it coincide with our Autumn ?

Linda, If ever things got really tight, we could get gainful employment as "Passer Downers" lol.

Allan, It was dry here today, but very humid and overcast.
The steam locomotive passed through the village today on its first excursion run around the Cambrian Coast from Machynlleth to Pwllheli,
A very nostalgic sight and sound.

I am not fond of cleaning Amanda, but it has to be done and as the cinema is totally run by volunteers,we all have to muck in, although some of us muck in more than others. OH swept the pavement in front of the building. He said he was going to lift a flagstone to brush it under, but I think he swept it into the gutter really

I know that I haven't been here long, but i am going to love you and leave you, as it is bedtime. Bye......

Yes Amanda, the seasons are reversed so Spring starts officially on 1st September, but like the UK the cold weather can still drag on until October.

Unlike the UK, however, there is no distinct change of weather as such, at least in this part of Western Australia.

I think that of all the States, Tasmania is the closest to the UK for seasons. And it is also a very beautiful State with scenery very reminiscent of the UK.

Tec you have just reminded me about the steam train that start's running soon from Liverpool to not sure were (lol) and the line it goe's along run's across the bridge that goe's over the end of my road and is visable from my flat, the only thing is I usually miss it as I am either on my way to work or in work and the line is out of sight from my employer's house but we can hear it as it alway's sound's it's whistle around our area and you can also here it chuffing along, what a heavenly sound.

That's very admirable Linda : ) I hope you don't have dreams of cleaning ....lol night night .

Allan ......I've never been out of GB so have difficulty imagining foreign lands ...it is interesting to " speak " like this to folk from far away places .

Tasmania sounds interesting . I bet it is beautiful .

Diane, I really look forward to the steam train every year. As soon as it starts to run we get hoards of photographers gather at the best vantage points to get shots, or video of it.
I went to school every day for three years on one in the 1950s - and no, I wasn't Harry Potter off to Hogwarts lol.

Amanda, I'm originally from the UK. OH and I came out to Oz in 1982 with our then two small children.

Prior to leaving the UK I was in the Army Reserve so got to see a bit od Europe, and, in 1970 even managed to get to Cyprus, all expenses paid!

Tec, the school I went to in Manchester had its playing fields bounded on two sides by railway lines.

One was the main North-South line and it was fantastic to see the Steam trains. Most of us were avid train spotters!

Hello everyone. Missed Linda again. Oh well, I suppose she is tired. Hope everyone else is well!

Don't dare venture an opinion on Scousers. My OH was one and my children are all half-Scouse - although they don't admit it for some reason - and two of them have been there. Of course, they met some of their rellos, so that might have something to do with their attitude.

But like me, they loved the UK and the people in it - just didn't go much on the weather - but when you're young, you don't feel it while you fly around enjoying yourself.

Diane - are you working tomorrow? if so - look at the clock!!!

Allan ....I guess I don't have much sense of adventure .....well not where travel is concerned , never felt the need to see other countries . Mind you , my Mum didn't go abroad until she was 50 and I'm not far off that ...so maybe one day .............lol

The trains sound good . I think it is fantastic that there are still a few of the old steam ones in good working order .

Tecwyn Report 27 Jul 2010 23:46

Allan, I have visions of you all hanging over the railings at break time lol.

Do they have any steam loco's running anywhere in Australia - even on excursion runs?

I know that India still has am amazing steam train network all over the Sub-Continent.

They also have Morris Minors lol.
