I can't have a wheelchair on the landing because the boxes plugged into the electric socket are screwed to the skirting board which make it too narrow for a wheelchair unfortunately, but I will enquire if it's possible to have the cables extended for the boxes to go higher on the wall.

I will get there, progress has been made today, so it's no good nagging me :-(

Anyway, I have been saved a trip to Bangor, 70 miles away, and £1,300 for a new bed - unless I change my mind.
The hospital bed is so big, and very ugly. The head, and foot boards are quite high, and then the sides are all rails (in case I fall out of bed) :-D

Linda ...............

I thought about mentioning that wheelchair, but thought I would leave it up to you

Mind you, Tec, you'll have me after you as well if you don't organise one PDQ

Persie ............

I bruise easily as well ......... and often don't realise that I have given myself a knock until I see a great bruise.

Unlike you though, my veins are difficult to find .............. either my skin is thicker than yours, or the veins are deeper

The worst was when I went into work one day with obvious finger bruises on my forearm ................ 4 on the top of my arm, and the thumb mark underneath

Of course, people looked at them, and then someone asked.

I answered truthfully ....................

"It was my 4-year old daughter" :-0

I'm not sure that some of them believed me ................ but it was true!

Oh that is great Tec, but what have you done about a wheel chair for up there? You know that I will just pester you until you have it sorted :-D

Hello Sylvia - Enjoy your lunch - with your legs in the air :-D

On my way t bed last night I noticed I had a message on my answerphone.

It was to say that the men would be here this morning to move my hospital bed (legs in the air) up to my bedroom as requested.

As the man I had spoken to regarding this was so contrary and unhelpful I had decided to buy my own, and had in fact planned to drive up to Bangor today to organise this.
Then I could tell them to take the hospital bed away.

Having spent alf the night thinking about it, I decided to let them take the bed upstairs, and if I didn't like it I would buy my own after Christmas.

Anyway, two cheerful chappies arrived, and the job was done in no time.

In the middle of it the Vicar arrived, no doubt to save my soul, but instead he was very helpful in carrying my bedding upstairs for me.

I spent the afternoon taking all my bits and bobs upstairs. My bedside lamp, radio alarm, etc etc.

Tonight I will be sleeping in my own bedroom for the first time since 9th January. :-D

Oh you poor dears <3. Me? I feel fine.....at the moment. Always achy after doing gardening etc but that settles down after a rest.

I always laugh when I go into the market square because from mid morning onwards, there is a row of about half a dozen mobility scooters all lined up by the old cross. The owners appear from all directions, then sit and chat until lunchtime when they disperse again

I think you should give up your new hobby of weight lifting Persie and take up something more ladylike such as flower arranging,so you won't hurt your shoulder again

I don't know Sylvia, what I have done. Same as I don't know when I hit my arm on something.. last night there was a bleeding under my skin about 3/4 of an inch long. I do this, bump and then sometime later I notice a mark.. My skin is very thin. Very easy to find the veins, they practically leap up towards needles when I have to have a blood test or a luer inserted.

I am not sure about waving our legs in the air. You will be having us learn a can can routine next Tec..

Hi Tec ............................

Legs Elevated Anonymous????

and what have you done today??

I'm just eating my lunch (at something after 1:30 pm), after lying on the bed with heat pack and leg elevated for almost 2 hours :-)

Linda ..................

sitting and chatting sounds a good idea!!

I'm taking Tylenol 3 ................... acetaminophen + 30 mg codeine ................. which I think is similar to your co-codamol??

I'm trying to stick to 1 twice a day, with ordinary Tylenol at bedtime.

I was told by the doctor I used to have, to try to only take the "super stuff", whether that be the painkiller or an NSAID, when absolutely necessary or just before doing extra walking (or other exercise).

One does get used to the medication, and then the dosage has to be increased

plus, the bunged up factor :-D

I increase the amount of water I drink to help counteract that :-)

Persie ........... did you perhaps sleep a little "funny" one night, or strain yourself lifting things?

A physio sounds a good idea, if there is a good one around.

Persephone

Persephone Report 27 Nov 2014 21:40

OH, doesn't understand that I will put up with pain and not take anything until it is absolutely necessary. Whereas every time we stopped for a meal on the way back from Auckland, there would be the same question "have you got any panadol?' He is the one that takes them regularly and I am the one that carts them around.

Hello Planet Earth, :-)

Linda what a pity that your doctor didn't send you to the knee specialist in the first place :-|
I have learnt to my cost never to trust the judgement of a GP with anything more than a sore throat.

Persie I hope that you find a physio who can help you - you sound to be in a lot of pain.

Sylvia - It seems we all need to keep our legs in the air :-D

I am also saddened that Phil Hughes the Australian cricketer died. He was so unlucky.
Can remember the days when cricket was played with no protective headdress. I guess accidents will happen in any activity, sadly.

I have had a very busy day

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 27 Nov 2014 21:20

Oh dear Persie, what a lot of old crocks we are :-(

It takes a while for the pain killers to work for me as well. I don't like taking tablets,so most of the time just put up with the ache. It is only when I have been walking that I need to take them. The GP can't understand that, he says if he was in my situation, he would be taking pain killers all the time.

The problem is they "bung you up" , no problem as you can take tablets for that. Hmm, I would rather put up with a bit of discomfort than to start filling myself with unnecessary tablets

Persephone

Persephone Report 27 Nov 2014 21:08

Now me. I have had a sore right shoulder for a few days, last night it had crept up into my neck and sleep was not forthcoming. Took some painkillers and gradually drifted off. It takes a while for them to work for me whereas OH takes a couple of panadol and has instant relief.

Not quite so bad this morning.. the pain has died down somewhat but spread across my back.. I think it is doing a nomadic travel and stopping here and there to test my endurance.. Must see if there is a physio in Huntly.

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 27 Nov 2014 20:54

We can sit and chat together Sylvia

I am resting my knee as much as possible, but there are sometimes I have to do things. I walked a fair bit yesterday when I went to get my hair cut, so I had to take pain killers last night. I had to walk to the doctors today as OH was out with the car, so it is aching again. I will rest for the next few days because I have to go to London on Monday for a couple of days while my daughter is away. I will have to take the Co Codamol tablets while I am away.
