Yes the decorator turned up this morning with a young lady. They cleared everything up, she vacuumed the room, and he put all the furniture back in place.

I am very pleased with the newly decorated bedroom, looks nice and fres and clean.

Now to shampoo the carpet, get the curtains hung, and arrange to have the bed taken up.

Whoopee :-D

Hello Sue - Bye Sue :-D Enjoy your day.

It was a gruesome day here. I hope it wasn't too bad for the firework display Linda.

Would have been cancelled here I'm sure

SylviaInCanada Report 9 Nov 2014 00:29

I'd join you in yoru ranting!!!

except that marines did seemingly find weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, according to a new book ..................... and some of them came to harm because of it.

it was all kept very very quiet .............................. they'd been supplied to Saddam by the US :-)

It was all over our news a couple of weeks ago

sleep tight Tec xxxx

George Bush and Tony Blair are largely responsible for what is now happening in Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan.

Saddam Hussein was a cruel tyrant - to his own people, but he did keep the lid on all the various factions.
He was not a threat to the West. Neither did he have weapons of mass destruction.

Destabilising Iraq opened up a whole can of worms, and now all hell has broken out in that region.

I could go on ranting all night :-D but this old man must go to bed now,

Enjoy your day Sylvia, and you Sue if you look in,

Goodnight,
Tec :-)

not only do I wish the same ......

but I wish the US would stop thinking they are the world's power, and dragging everyone else into their version of what "democracy" is

that's at the basis of a lot of the current problems, in my humble opinion

The history of the British Empire is not that glorious, or smelling of roses.

One of my all time heroes is Mahatma Ghandi - what a wise man he was. I loved his philosophy of passive resistance - a powerful force.

I think that one day the "Commonwealth" will also lose Canada, Australia, and later New Zealand.

As for the UK. I wish that we could understand that we are no longer a world power, and stop behaving as if we were.
We are a small island off mainland Europe.

I also wish we could stop following America into adventures into foreign lands that have nothing to do with us.

Some may see my views as weird, but they are my views.

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 9 Nov 2014 00:07

and also to the lack of education to develop future leaders by the Brits when they were in "power".

We, the Aussies, NZ, etc were lucky .................. the men in power were mainly white at the time the demand arose for cutting ties with the UK

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 9 Nov 2014 00:04

I remember studying all the red areas of the world in my atlas :-D

Then we were thrown out of most of it - and jolly good job too :-D

The British Empire shrank and peoples allowed to run their own affairs.

Some did well without us - some not so well, mostly due to corruption of their new leaders.

Tec ...

that was a long time!

I think the same thing applies to the Merchant Navy here ........ and of course, it did in the war, as we were still part of the Empire :-)

One of the many areas coloured red in my school atlases :-D
