Yes I do have that in mind as I plan to visit a few places next summer.

I can do Erddig Hall there and back in a day though.

My daughter checked out that place you mentioned nr Euston while they were in London last week.
They thought it was quite good.

They usually stay somewhere more central, but thought that place might be better for me.

You will have to try out all the b&b's with ground floor rooms and less able facilities, there are plenty of them around

I did once have a real Squire at the bottom of my garden :-D

Squire York of Erddig Hall nr Wrexham.

He died and left the Hall and Estate to the National Trust.

I must pay a visit next summer - lovely old place, full of history.

The Duchess had an ancestor who was a maid there in the 19th C.

I only have the laptop and an ipad Sylvia, although I do have a docking station on the desk where the router is. I only use the laptop connected to the docking station on a morning and it doesn't usually cut out then. It isn't the wireless connection which is the problem, as that shows as connected. It is the actual router losing its connection.

It cut out again earlier this evening so the firmware update is not the problem. It could be that another neighbour is using the same channel and that is causing a problem, but the problem has persisted when both of the immediate neighbours have been away. I can try other channels,so that may be my next step, in case it is the vicar at the bottom of the garden

I suspect that it is caused by my telephone system. I have four cordless phones around the house. We noticed that the internet drops out sometimes when the phone is used, but then it cuts out even if the phone hasn't been used. I have read, however that if the phone and router are using the same frequency (or something like that) that they can interfere with each other. I already bought a new router, but hadn't read that at the time so don't know if that is the problem

The router is near all the electrical equipment on the desk, so it could be any of that as well. Most of the time it is OK, but then there are times like last night when I had to reset it about five times

Linda .......................

we have a router, but as my computer is the one to which the router is connected, I do not have a problem

OH on the other hand has basically given up on trying to access the internet when I am using it, and even has problems when I am not.

We've had our computer geek guy up here several times to try to sort it out, we bought a better router at his suggestion ......................... but it just does not seem to work, even though "geek" thinks it should.

OH has now given up on using the internet on his computer, which is downstairs ........................... he either only uses it in his office, or he uses mine.

His problem is compounded by the fact that he uses the university's email system, and that only allows limited access from off-campus computers :-(

Sooooooooo ............. is your 'puter the one to which the router is attached, or is it the secondary one?

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 4 Nov 2014 15:47

I have had a good geek around on the Internet and have been brave and upgraded the firmware on my router It will probably make no difference at all, but we shall see. I might have a go at changing the router channels after that to see if that works, but as the fault is not there all the time, it is difficult to know what works.

OH is doing some gardening, I just went out to chat to him, but it is freezing so I came in again. We are due for a huge drop in temperature this week with some minus tems overnight. Still we have had a warm autumn so far. OH is having to leave lots of things inthe garden because they are not ready to pull out yet, most unusual

Is this a sane day Persie?

I decided to have a bath this morning for the first time since I hurt my knee. Before anyone sys nothing,I do have showers.

As I was having trouble getting in, I realised that getting out was going to be more difficult than I thought. I managed it in a most perculiar and dangerous manner, so I will be sticking to the shower for a while

Sylvia I have spent many a happy hour talking to the nice ladies and gentleman in India about my router. The fact that it is an intermittent problem and not the run of the mill type just leaves me banging my head on the wall

hi everyone

yep ................ I think I fit in very nicely on here :-D

the coffee shop was pretty empty .......... except for the 4 of us who meet there most afternoons :-)

the other 2 walk there .................... so they're even crazier than us :-)

Linda .................. surely your internet should not cut out so often? Is it worth asking for your supplier to check their end of it?

sleep well UK-ites xxx

enjoy your day Sue, Berona and Persie xxx

It all sounds very curious.
I think you may have to explain everything to an IT guru, who may have the answer.

Very annoying though

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 3 Nov 2014 22:55

I bought a new hub, so it isn't that, I got two new splitter things. And OH checked the connections inside the box.
It could be that the hub and the telephone base are running on the same frequency so interfering with each other, but the phone hasn't rung tonight. It is beyond me

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 3 Nov 2014 22:51

Maybe you have a faulty hub. Is there anyone or anywhere you could get it checked out ?

I had a similar problem when AOL was my ISP, but not had that problem since I changed to BT

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 3 Nov 2014 22:48

The Internet cut out again. I just don't understand what is going on with it.
