It is wonderful to have such close friends to share our ups and downs with, the good, and the not so good times.

Thousands of people pass through our lives over the passage of time, most we forget, some we remember perhaps for the wrong reasons, but a tiny select few remain to become true and lasting friends.

How do we explain that? except that such friends have a common bond.

We missed seeing Lewis on tv on Friday night,so we watched it on the computer. The internet behaved all the way through, but as soon as I turned the iplayer off, the internet cut off again and I have just got it back

The wonders of the internet - amazing what close friends we've become :-)

It is a strange thing that we can "talk" on here and have an answer in seconds. So easy to somehow forget that we are on opposite sides of the world.

When I travelled so often to Australia by ship I was acutely aware of how far I was from home.

By air travel it is little over a day away - still a long way.

How awful it must have been for early emigrants who could only relie on surface mail to keep in touch.

I'm sure it does Tec - very distressing for anyone receiving such a letter.

I have been looking through photos and came across the ones OH took when we visited. Good memories but they make me realise how far away we are :-(

We have rain forecast for the next week :-(

It is distressing when a letter arrives for the deceased, but it is inevitable when company's are working off old mailing lists or electoral registers.
I suppose it must happen to many people.
