Well there's always that, Tec - that's why I keep an axe nearby :-D

I must be off Tec - it's nearly 10am here and I need to get a couple of things done. Goodnight - sleep tight <3

Enjoy the rest of your day Sylvia <3

I am familiar with the pitcher plant, but have never seen one in bloom.
That's very exciting to get a "flower" on it in a pot.

I'm not keen on carnivorous plants - find them a bit creepy :-D

supposing it grew enormous - and ate you :-S

I had a real surprise the other day. I have a carnivorous plant called a sarracenia or pitcher plant. It has given me a bloom which is apparently a little unusual when they are a potted plant. I'm very pleased as I love unusual plants and this was a bonus.

I will of course need photos of your garden as it takes shape :-D

I think Spring is a very exciting time in the garden. Discovering old friends popping up for another summer display.
Things poking through the warming soil.

My garden has had a severe haircut. Shrubs pruned right down and back.
The garden already looks twice as wide as when you saw it, and I haven't started yet :-D

I've always found care homes daunting - a view of what may be in the future :-(

On a happier note - I must take some photos of some of my plants waking up to the warmer weaher.

Many of the residents have physical disabilities that prevents them from living at home.

It seems the men all sit together in one lounge, and the ladies in another,

but there never seems to be any conversation :-(

I am spending Christmas Day there,so hope to mix a bit and talk to people

Not all residents in a care home are so far gone they can't benefit from some activities.

Tecwyn Report 29 Oct 2014 22:24

Hello Sue,

I didn't do much today. Yesterday was very tiring, a long drive in awful conditions, and getting home late.

The Duchess does still read a lot, and always has a book on the go.

There is nothing to stimulate the residents in the home.
It's as silent as the grave in there.
The Duchess doesn't mix much anyway, but I'm sure those that do would benefit from some activity.

Hello Tec - pleased to hear you are not full of aches and pains. I hope you took it easy today.

Also pleased to hear that the Duchess is much better. Does she still read a lot? Doesn't sound like they have any activities to stimulate the mind and body :-(

Hello, :-)

Grey day here, but dry.
Started to rain this evening at dusk, just as I got a line full of dry washing in.

Went to visit the Duchess this afternoon.
She still has a cough, but generally her chest is better. She was asleep on her bed when I got there. There is no life in that place. Nothing of any interest to do.

I am fine today after my fall yesterday. Slight pain where I twisted my back on the right side.
No that lady didn't stop or apologise, just carried on storming along the corridor.
I was using one elbow crutch to walk with, but she was in such a hurry, that wouldn't have registered. Being a learner I have poor balance.
Thinking about it, you never know, it was a hospital after all. Maybe the lady had had bad news, or even bereaved.
Maybe she just had to get out of there, quickly.
People don't always act rationally at times of high stress.

Berona - Sounds like you did have a lovely day, with your family calling, dinner and flowers too. :-D

Linda I think that you are enjoying this Halloween thing more than Eve :-D

I hope he doesn't want you to buy him some gem samples :-D

Time to turn in really early again, it takes us time to set the bed up.

Drew loves reading a number of books that are popular with boys his age. The funny thing is he loves a book that his mum bought for him when he was about 3 y.o. and reads it often.

Joel has now into rocks and minerals and has some from my son's collection from when he was a boy. There is a gem show coming up and Joel rang to ask if I would take him.

It is odd the things which take their fancy. Last year she was mad about the Mamma Mia film, a really odd thing for a little one, but she knew all the songs and drove us crazy with it

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 29 Oct 2014 21:44

Aimee has seen Frozen a couple of times and just loves Elsa. She sings the song often and it's so cute but we're getting a little bored with it :-D She also loves to sing 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow' from the Wizard of Oz. Very cute.

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 29 Oct 2014 21:39

She saw Frozen ages ago, like every other little girl she knows all about Elsa. They have it on a subscription channel, so she made me watch it in the summer
I think her Halloween getup is a zombie Elsa

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 29 Oct 2014 21:35

Hello Linda - don't take Eve to see 'Frozen'. She will sing the song 'Let It Go' forever :-0

I do remember Sue :-D

I hope Tec is feeling Alright today

We had both of them this morning. Esme was fine, I even got her to go down for a sleep. I spent lots of time this morning making bats and spiders for Halloween with Eve. It was a horrible day, it never stopped raining so we were stuck in all day.

It is supposed to be better tomorrow which OH is pleased about as the back garden is like a jungle again, so he is going to hack it back for the winter.

I am going to take Eve into town late morning as she needs a couple of things. Then we will have lunch and go to the cinema

Hello everyone :-)

Tec - I hope you are feeling ok today.

Berona - so pleased you had a lovely day. The pink lilies are probably Asiatic lilies.

Another lovely sunny morning. I did a lot of potting yesterday. Luckily I had the pots that you may remember I bought awhile back.
