Hello Berona - are you enjoying the lovely Spring weather?

Linda - I'm glad you have a lovely hotel room but I'm very worried about your knee and obvious pain. Please take care <3

This hotel seems very nice, the room is a suite with a nice sitting room, the bedroom with the two beds, a huge bathroom with a double jacuzzi bath. Outside it has a private walled garden with nice wooden sun loungers, so we can stay here if needs be. I get an hour free WiFi a day, so I should be able to make sure you are not being naughty In my absence

Tec I need some of your morphine. Whatever I have done to my knee if very bad.Sleeping last night was interesting, everything I had to move it was agony. Oddly there are two double beds in the bedroom in this suite so we had oneceach, but Oh said I was calling out in my sleep all of the time

Ascibwas shuffling to breakfast this morning the handyman saw me and produced a wheelchair The tyres are flat so Oh has gone off to find a pump. There are still some steps into the breakfast room and evening dining room, but seeing my attempt to get up them, they showed us how to get in via a staff corridor which is flat

Hello all. I can't be left out of the conversation. I, too, have had shingles, five years ago. I was affected in a line from the centre of my chest; under my armpit, and around to my shoulder blade and backbone. Only on the one side. I still have not heard about vaccinations for it - but too late for me, anyway. I was able to have the flu and pneumonia jabs at the same time - same arm. However, it's the shingles which has left me with very sore skin from the front to the back, where the rash was. People tell me and I have read that the soreness goes away 'even as late as a year' . Well, I still have it after five years and still as sore as ever. I only have two positions in which I can lie in bed and I don't like being in a car for long because the vibration hurts my shoulder blade, same as sitting in a deep chair. Oh - woe is me!
I have learned to live with it. Nothing else I can do, is there?

I'm glad I caught you long enough to say hello. School holidays mess around with our mornings.

Hello everyone :-)

Oh Linda - what a rotten thing to happen. Hopefully with lots of rest your knee won't be so painful <3

Yesterday it was 32C and today 19C :-0

Tecwyn Report 30 Sep 2014 21:41

Hello, :-)

Oh dear Linda, what rotten luck :-( I wonder what caused that to happen?
Is it any better now? You may need the help of a walking stick for a few days to help your stability.
At least you can rest.

Hello Sylvia,
Lovely Autumn day here, 21C. Light shower this evening.
Apparently we have had the driest September since records began in 1910.

Today I went to the artificial limb centre at Wrexham, a drive of 65 miles each way.
It was a six week review.
They were very impressed with my progress, and I managed to walk in on just one elbow crutch. They don't want to see me again until January.

After that I went to visit my brother who only lives a mile from the hospital, had my lunch there, and sat in their garden chatting, after viewing his mini motor museum :-D
He has three big BMW motorbikes, one in a state of restoration, and his two vintage cars, a 1963 MG Sports Coupe, and a 1958 Alvis, both in mint condition and road worthy.
Don't realise how tacky modern cars are until you see good old fashioned British cars. All the leather, and walnut trim - no plastic bits to fall off :-D

It's a lovely sunny day here ............ a few clouds around, but not too bad for Fall

Yesterday was horrendous!

It teemed down for about 4 hours, from about 10 am until close to 2 pm

and that was exactly the time that I had to be out and about :-(

but ................ that is Vancouver in the Fall :-)

This area is classified as a Temperate Rain Forest for a reason :-D

Oh dear, Linda :-)

I'm so sorry to hear that (((hugs)))

That sounds like something that happened to me some years ago .................. only it was as I stepped down from the curb to cross the road. I managed to get across the road safely, and got home, slowly and painfully.

An elastic bandage helped ......... as did rest and icing, with the leg raised. And painkillers :-)

Can you do R I C E there?

LindainHerriotCountry Report 30 Sep 2014 18:43

We are here but not safely. Just as I stood up to get off the bus at the hotel, I felt a huge twang behind my right knee and my knee collapsed. I thought I was going to pass out. It is very painful and I have no sideways stability at all I can hobble slowly in a straight line, but I foresee ending up on the floor a few times. OH got a taxi to the pharmacy and has got me an elasticated support, so hopefully that will help.

Not sure how much free wifi I have, I think it may cut out after an hour

OH is going off to bed, I think he is thinking that if he goes to sleep early, the holiday will come round faster

I will go and join him, so see you from the sun, goodnight.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 29 Sep 2014 22:37

Hello Sylvia.

I phoned to ask if I could have the flu jab at the same time as the other one, but the receptionist said they weren't allowed to arrange flu jabs outside the scheduled flu clinics. She just said to ask the nurse when I turn up for the first one. If she won't give it to me then, I will have to go back on the evening which will mean three visits to the surgery on one afternoon, how stupid is that

They still don't offer shingles jabs here

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 29 Sep 2014 22:36

I remember Thomson's let you down last time, but as you say, you are better off with the package price.

Good Afternoon Sylvia,

You will be like a pin cushion :-D

The Duchess had a bad case of shingles a few years ago, and really suffered with it all round her middle - she was in a lot of pain for ages, even after the rash had gone, so best get innoculated :-)

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 29 Sep 2014 22:30

It is a pity that this airline don't deal with our favourite hotel in Crete, we are stuck with Thomsons for that. We could book the hotel and flights separately but you can never beat the package price

Hi

It is pouring with rain here :-(

OH took me to the drs appointment, but I had to come home on the bus (2 buses, changing in downtown)

I got soaked just walking the block and a half from the bus stop to the house :-(

I'm just about dry ................ and warmed up now, about 2½ hours from getting in ..................... and it's nearly time for OH to get home so we can go for coffee!

Linda ................. I had the pneumonia and flu shot on the same visit ................. but they have to do them on different arms ????? :-S

The pneumonia one is a one-time only jab

The doc today gave me another prescription for Zostavax, the shingles vaccine .......... he gave me one last year, and I took it into the pharmacist, and was told to phone in to make an appointment for the pharmacist to give it to me.

Only I never made the appointment :-(

One of our coffee friends is suffering through a bout of shingles right now, so I thought I'd better get it done.

take care

Safe trip tomorrow, Linda xx
