I have been getting lots of hugs from people, I love it. I haven't shed any tears over Phil. They were shed 4 or 5 years ago. Though I realise that it could suddenly hit me in 2-4 weeks. But in the meantime I am quite cheerful as usual. :-D

Hello Huia,

It is a sad time, but as you say sometimes it is for the best. I hope things go well tomorrow and that you have a good family gathering to celebrate his life

Huia Report 9 Aug 2014 22:22

Hello everybody. I am now going to have to be careful about flirting with men. Previously if they took it seriously I could say I have a husband, but as Phil died on Thursday night I mustn't let anybody take my flirting seriously.

I am accompanying Phil on his last journey to the crematorium tomorrow morning, (a private cremation) then working in the hospice shop in the afternoon. I am glad Phil has finally gone, it has been a long 5 years since he went into care. I am going to have a memorial day for friends and relatives in a week or so, when I can choose a date to suit most of the family. Phil never liked big gatherings but I will put his ashes in full view and tell him he will sit there and not move while we all talk about him.

:-D :-D

People are always saying they have seen big cats Sylvia, but none have ever been found

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 9 Aug 2014 22:19

Sylvia there have been reports of sightings of big cats in various parts of the UK for years.

I think most are down to bad eye sight, alcohol, wild imagination.

However, as many are foolishly kept as pets these days, it is not inconceivable that the odd one escapes, or is deliberately set free to fend for itself.
Maybe some sightings are genuine, but nothing has ever been proved.

bit like the abominable snowman :-D

SylviaInCanada Report 9 Aug 2014 22:16

ouch!

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 9 Aug 2014 22:14

There is enough wildlife in my garden Linda.

I have got through nearly a whole tube of Anthisan in the last week - bitten to death :-|

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 9 Aug 2014 22:13

I think I saw a report recently that someone thought they'd seen a cheetah ................ in the Home Counties

and isn't there a "big cat" supposedly on Dartmoor?

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 9 Aug 2014 22:11

There is the native Scottish Wild Cat in the Highlands still around.

In Wales we have the mountain goats, magnificent creatures that come down off the tops in the winter months.

and then there are us locals :-D

LindainHerriotCountry Report 9 Aug 2014 22:07

I don't think you have room for all of that lot in your garden Tec

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 9 Aug 2014 22:05

I thought you had some wild cats???

at least, I keep seeing reports of "big cats" roaming :-)

thye just don't seem able to get those fires out.

One is only 30 km from Yellowknife, and is officially classified as "out of control".

You can imagine the air quality in Yellowknife.

I did see one report this past week, that the smoke from the fires in the Yukon has travelled as far as Portugal :-0

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 9 Aug 2014 22:01

I suppose around Yellowknife there isn't much they can do except let them burn because of water supply.
Shame about the wildlife though.
I know you have some wonderful wildlife in Canada.

They have reintroduced beaver into some areas of the UK.
I would like bears, wolves, elk, moose, and wild cats too :-)

OH has to go out this evening .............. he has to give a 7 minute talk on the history of the Botanical Garden at some event out there

Because of that, I don't know whether we will also go out for afternoon coffee ................ we often do on a lazy Saturday :-)

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 9 Aug 2014 21:58

Linda .......... thank you for not offering me coffee.

I would be swinging from the chandelier ......... if we had a chandelier that is :-)

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 9 Aug 2014 21:54

You are welcome. I would have offered some to Sylvia, but she has already had some and we don't want her being hyperactive with too much caffeine :-D

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 9 Aug 2014 21:54

Linda ................

that jellied beetroot is very good :-)

Drinking latte through a straw, and spooning up the foam was, errrrrr ........... interesting :-D

Tec ....... we also have the idiots .............................. but also we've had quite a lot of dry thunderstorms, with lightening

we've had over 1,050 wild fires in BC since April 1

Several fires have been burning around Yellowknife in the Yukon for literally weeks

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 9 Aug 2014 21:47

Nice coffee Linda - thank you :-D
