Sorry I disappeared, I didn't realise the tablet needed charging

It was supposed to rain here today but it didn't which is good as I can get out for our walks

Tecwyn Report 20 May 2014 22:50

I don't know how successful it is. It's all about retraining the brain, that remembers the pain you were in before amputation. My phantom pain is always in the area I was in pain before the op. :-0.

Those meetings are awful. Some people are a menace, and just seem to like the sound of their own voices

SueMaid Report 20 May 2014 22:45

That's an odd technique - I wonder how successful it is.

I had a busy day yesterday with two meetings. They both went on and on. As always the same people :-(

Tecwyn Report 20 May 2014 22:36

Phantom pain sometimes stops within a year, but can go on for several years.
There is a technique using a mirror that retrains the brain.
You sit in front of a mirror and massage the end of what leg you have. This tells the brain there is nothing left beyond what it feels. Very weird.

Glad the sun is shining for you. We are having a very unsettled spell, thunder storms and heavy rain. It was overcast nearly all day here, but the sun did appear at teatime. Tomorrow is supposed to be better.

SueMaid Report 20 May 2014 22:29

OH was asking as he lost a half a finger in his youth and said he would get some pain although he expected it was nowhere near what you may be getting. I hope it eases before long.

A lovely sunny day outside :-)

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 20 May 2014 22:22

It is sensible to keep a close eye on Aimee with her history of chest infections, especially with winter coming.

Yes I do get phantom pain in my missing leg.
It varies from day to day. Some days I feel nothing, then other times I'm in pain all day.
A consultant reffered me to a book about it, which I did buy on the internet. It is very interesting. The phantom pains will disappear in time, but it can be quite unpleasant.

I hope all goes well with your trip tomorrow. Do you get phantom limb syndrome?

This morning we are taking Aimee back to the doctor for a follow up. She has been well but still has a cough. She is prone to chest infections and has she had a bout of pneumonia a couple of years ago the doctor likes to keep an eye on her.

Good Morning Sue,

I've had a quiet day really. Went up to the village shop this morning in my F 1 RACING CAR., a snail passed me, and said I was in his way :-D

This afternoon I did some paperwork and then played with the fish tank.
Tomorrow I'm off to the Artificial Limb Centre.

Hello everyone :-)

Oh dear Huia - what a worry you are. Do take care.

Merlin and Kemp - a sad day for Australia. Sir Jack is an Aussie icon and will be long remembered.

Hello Mersey <3

Linda - hopefully Esme is starting to settle down for you. If her dad is flustered and impatient I'm sure she will sense that and it will unsettle her.

Hello Tec - hope you have had a good day :-)

Sylvia - I don't think I realised how huge Canada is. That's a lot of travelling for your daughter and grandson.

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 20 May 2014 21:53

It is good that at last Esme is making friends with you. It must make life easier for you both. :-)

9pm and time to sit down . I have just hoovered all of the downstairs and cleaned it all with the steam mop, on the grounds that it needed doing.

Esme remembered me and has been quite good today. Not as docile as when mum is around but a lot better than yesterday when he dad looked after her and she cried all day

oh dear, Huia

that's sounds very painful.

Do hope all goes well .................... you'd better obey orders xxxx

take care, my dear.

Linda .............. hope the rest of the day has been easier than in previous weeks.

My daughter has got her plane tickets to come over for the spreading of her aunt's ashes. It will be a very quick rip for her and her son .................. arrive on Friday evening, leave on Tuesday evening. They will leave at 7:50 pm on the Tuesday evening and arrive back home at 7:00 am on Wednesday morning (so 11 hours of travelling, including 2 stops of about 90 minutes each to change planes)

take care everyone

Sad to hear of the Death of Jack Brabham, Lovely man, well respected in the Racing World. Rest in Peace Black Jack,You will always be remembered and in my opinion No one will ever again achieve what you did In F1.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 20 May 2014 12:48

Oh dear Huia, that sounds a dreadful injury. Maybe you need to be thinking about moving into town to somewhere with less upkeep

Huia

Huia Report 20 May 2014 08:42

Linda, are you typing under difficult circumstances, as I am? - for as ting? I am having difficulty at present as on Saturday I cut my finger on the circular saw bench when cutting up firewood. Right hand, ring finger. Had to dial 111 for an ambulance. The hospital kept me in over the weekend and cleaned it out 3 times before finally stitching it up late Sunday afternoon. I shaved a bit off the bone and lost 40% of my tendon, and now my finger is well wrapped up and I am supposed to keep my hand up (typing?). I have to sleep on my back when I normally go on my side or tummy. I suppose I should stop playing on here now and obey orders. :-(

LindainHerriotCountry Report 20 May 2014 08:08

It is the calm before the storm. I had to wake Eve up this morning and had her ready in record time including having breakfast, She has gone off with mum and Esme is still asleep

I have just checked the weather for here and it is for as ting rain for much of the day which is no good for my walks
