I could use weedkiller in some areas, but afaid it may also kill the perrenials where they are close together. Also Milo has taken to foraging for the odd piece of grass he may find to eat.
It doesn't help that I feed the birds every day with wild bird seed - where they scatter it, it sometimes germinates :-( they are very untidy birds in Wales :-D

Sounds like you had a nice day. Can you put weed killer on the weeds without risking your plants? I don't like using chemicals in the garden but they do help at times.

To stay indoors in the warm with a good book sounds good to me on such a day.

I was cloudy and overcast here today, but not cold, and no wind, so quite pleasant in the garden.
As the shrubs and perennials grow they tend to hide the weeds beneath them :-D

I am having Milo for the day tomorrow :-) he just wanders about at the back of the wheelchair, indoors, and in the garden :-)

You have had busy Sundays. Linda, sounds like a lovely family lunch. Hopefully you can catch up on sleep tonight and rest tomorrow.

Tec - looks like the garden is doing well despite you not being able to do much.

I didn't stay in bed yesterday although it was so cold and windy I was tempted. The sun shone but did little to warm the day. We potted a bit around the garden then decided a day with the heating on and good books would be good.

I will go to bed soon and I am sure I will sleep tonight. I will catch the train tomorrow, but I am not coming back for two weeks because OH is coming down for the weekend, so I will just stay there

I spent most of the day in the garden, potting things up, so engrossed that at what I guessed was around 1-o'clock I decided to break for lunch. When I got indoors I discovered it was 3-15pm :-D

The garden is colourful at the moment - the magnolia has it's last flowers, replaced by the lime green leaves. The big pink rhododendron is beautiful, and the snowball bush (viburnam opulus) is covered in bloom. The azaleas are flowering in red, then there are bluebells, Welsh poppies, lily of the valley, purple aquilegia.
Much to my surprise the wisteria is smothered in flower buds. It wasn't pruned back as usual in February, so I didn't expect it to do well.
Neither were the roses pruned, so they are now oversize, and although some are in bud, I'm not expecting much from them this year.
The hydrangeas look healthy, and should look good in July/August.
My SIL took the lily's in tubs to the front garden yesterday, where they will spend the summer to get the best of the sunshine, as it faces South.

I have three tomato plants to grow outside in a growbag :-)

Well the end of another day and I am shattered. I was reading until late last night, then I couldn't sleep until after four, so I can hardly keep my eyes open now.

We had a very nice Sunday lunch with the family, amazingly they all turned up

I agree with you Sue. Winter is coming - fast! Only a week ago, Sunday was a beautiful sunny and warm day (26c). To-day dropped down to 8c overnight and the best we could get was 15c - and it didn't last for long. Still no rain, but that will only make it colder - so I've had the heater on since sundown. I know that other people are not as 'soft' as I am, but I like to indulge myself in my old age.

I have had a look at the photos, Huia. They are wonderful. I love the photo of the boats in the mist. The estuary looks a beautiful place.

It's been cold and windy here although it's been sunny all day. Winter is definately on it's way.....brrrrrr :-(

New Zealand has been changing shape for millennia. There are two pieces of a hill in the South Island, a long way apart. I understand that the Fiordland area (bottom SW corner of the S.I.) is gradually working its way north.

My sleep pattern has not gone back to normal since Phil went into care 5 years ago, but I don't think it is as bad as yours Diane, although I have some sleeping pills which I can take if I need a good night's sleep. Mainly if I have to go somewhere in the morning, otherwise I try to tough it out.

Maybe I should see the Dr about it and see what he suggest.

I know Sue, I am used to it as my sleep pattern has been chaotic for month's :-(
Some time's I completely miss a sleep to try and get back into a pattern.
Maybe if I come down under I can get it sorted as I'm sleeping when you are :-D :-D
