Thanks again everyone:-))

I have heard that its not suitable for everyone, I will have to do more research and speak to my opticians.
It would be nice not having to wear Glasses:-))

I haven't seen her but my sister in law's brother told me she had it done and her eyes are worse. I have worn specs since I was 11, so 51 years, and even when I wore contact lenses for a while in the late 70's/early 80's, people said I look better in specs, that they suit me more, and I wouldn't risk a mistake being made with laser treatment so will stick with specs. (Gave up on contact lenses, old harder ones, when my son was little, but wouldn't bother now even with the new ones.) My son wears the disposable ones and I worry so much about infection etc as he is a bit casual about it all, apparently his are both the same strength which seems unusual but means he can just grab a couple from the box and go.
Have heard of people having the laser treatment and it only lasts a few years.

I've toyed with idea but now wear vaifocals, although I do take then off for reading and using the PC but need a magnifying glass or sheet for VERY small print. ...Needs a lot of thought eyesight is so precious.
Worn hard and soft contacts in the past, but I am lazy and it's so much easier just to put on your glassses, especially with designer frames around now and it covers any bags under your eyes, lol

I have a friend who did his homework and found a very well respected doctor. Unfortunately, it failed for him and his sight is worse in the one eye that had the procedure than it was before.

Just be aware of the complications.

Hi Roxanne. I had laser surgery on my weak left eye when it was a very new procedure - almost 20 yrs ago. Cost £800 then.

Very quick, very painless - until the drops wore off! - Total agony for 3-4 hours!! Think it's changed a bit now. Next day I was fine. Results were truly amazing. Never regretted it for one moment. Only just this last year, have I noticed that the vision is a little blurry again. Thinking of getting right eye done, as that's now my weaker eye.

Would recommend it to anyone. One word of caution though (I was told beforehand) In typical Myopia for which laser is designed - Reading glasses may well be needed afterwards. Small price to pay - no more lost contact lenses - Bliss!

Just to let you know it won't cost £450 per eye more like £2000- £3000. for both eyes.

Two girls I work with have had it done. One had it done about 10 years ago in NZ and the other girl 2 years ago in London.

Both girls are completely satisfied with the results. They said their eyes itched for the first week after it was done, but then settled down.
