he died when my mum was 2 she thought he was in the navy but i cant find anything.........any sugestions

George G Websdale Oct/Nov/Dec Quarter of 1952.

District is London City

Volume number is 5d

Page number is 163

He was aged 27.

You can order certificates on-line at The General Register, just put in the details I have posted , remember to tick that you know the District/Area or they will charge you more. Takes about 1 week to arrive and costs £7.00.

This certifcate should tell you why he died, what his occupation was and who registered his death.


A very short life, very sad Joanne for all thoughs who he left behind.

Your grandfather was registered in the same quarter as my father. From that I'd guess that he was probably called-up in 1943 and de-mobbed in about 1947. So your mum is quite likely correct in saying that he was in the navy, but I doubt if he still was when he died.

So don't despair if his death certificate gives a different occupation.
