Hi

If you have a FREECYCLE SITE in your area, you can possibly get one free as the site is designed for things not to go into landfill.

I have seen several in my area over the last few weeks, probably because people are changing to DVD's. I got myself one last year, even has the manual and in good condition. This way you wouldn't have to fork out £160 immediately, maybe when you are ready you can buy a recorder at a later date.

Helen, You shouldn't need to match the brands. I have changed video and DVD players around with no problem.

However, you must have a video player which works properly, connected to your TV. If, or when, you have a DVD player connected, perhaps you can borrow a video player from someone whilst you copy them onto a CD.

Thanks, Smiffy, Bob and Falkirkbairn, have been looking at various sites this afternoon, but finding it hard to understand all the jargon. Will show hubby when he gets home and see what he says.
If anyone else has any ideas or recomendations I would appreciate it.

We have a combination dvd /vhs recorder and player. We can record from the tv to either video or dvd, and transfer programmes/films we have video taped on to dvd. We cannot transfer pre-recorded tapes to dvd.

To answer your question yes it is possible, but first of all you need to have a workable VHS player capable of reading your tapes and outputting a signal.

Have you one, or can you obtain one?

Otherwise you are rather blowing in the wind, as Bob Zimmerman would have said.

We have a Toshiba Video/DVD recorder. We bought it to transfer our videos to DVD, but haven't quite got around to doing it yet!

If you google Toshiba I'm sure you will find some.

Our Vhs video has given up it's life and we can't watch our old tapes anymore only listen to the sound. I would like to know if anyone has a Dvd player/recorder that also plays VHS tapes as well. Can you tell me if you can record your VHS tapes on to discs? What make and model do you have and is it easy to transfer them over? Any help would be appreciated.

Many thanks
Helen
