I just checked my bank account online to see if my pension has gone in as normal and there is a very large amount in as well, so I assume it is the winter fuel payment! Nice and early so can give o.h. some money towards the gas bill and have the fire on as much as I want lol

Our payment is a joint one but I think you can probably ask for separate ones if you want. I deal with all banking and paperwork so its no problem for us, but some might well be not so lucky.

Tina,

I don't think you will get it this year. To qualify, you have to reach retirement age in September.

Sorry!

They could also stop paying child allowances to the parents of children who don't live in the UK.

I have a suspicion that some of those children don't even exist.

But no winter fuel payment yet.
It gets complicated in our house as I am working, my wife is retired, my mother in law is retired and over 80 and my brother in law is in receipt of Disability Living Allowance.
So where the winter fuel allowance ends up is in the lap of the gods.

Amokavid,

You have to fill in a form if you want it split between you. We have recently had this discussion and decided to leave it as it is.

If they heard that my old dad was out roaring about in that gale last week in his wheelchair I wouldn't blame them if they decided the silly old sod didn't need it!

He doesn't get it,I do! Mm,new handbag,box of chocolates? Decisions,decisions.

I have to come in here on the side of those who live abroad. Australia, and wherever they choose to live is not always hot, they have their winter months too as we have seen on here. People in Spain for example still have to heat their homes in the winter months, they are UK pensioners, just because they live abroad doesn't mean they are rich and don't need help with heating. I have been in Tenerife and Lanzarote in winter months when we have needed heating because it was cold.

And no, I have not had mine yet.

Well I suppose if they own a house in UK they will still have to keep it heated allbeit not as much as if they were living in it, you can't leave a house unheated or the pipes freeze.
There are lots of things that may or may not happen if any of the parties get in I don't trust what any of them say, in fact G Brown was all for reducing the heating allowance this year at one point but changed his mind, he is just as likely to do away with it so I wouldn't let that influence me as to which way I voted.
