Jan, hope you get what you need.
I went to the new one I have just taken on and it's had the door painted and one inside wall painted too, which is good as means the chap who owns them all, looks after them and keeps them maintained. His dad left him over one hundred garages, mostly in blocks that I suppose he built himself. The owner is around my age and said he has been painting, cleaning out and letting out garages since he was ten. He has an old chap of over 70 painting the doors now, lol

Thanks for the advice Liz! Oddly enough, there is a garage for rent nearby - I have never seen this before where I live. Silly me, never thought of that!
Regards

I use rented garages for my needs but you have to be sure they are in good areas and have good locks etc I always speak to a neighbour to ask them to keep an eye out and leave my phone number so they can contact me if there is a problem, it's worked so far! Check you are covered by household insurance for things away from home.

There is an offer on with one company - think it is Big Yellow where you get a 50% discount. I was talking to some of them recently and it isn't cheap anywhere, but go through your local yellow pages as you might find something locally there that is a better deal. Also look on Gumtree as they might have a section for storage or garages in your locality.

I don't know how big the one is that my son and dil rent.

I just googled and found a few useful sites.

Try googling self storage prices.

I found one charging £34 a week for 100 sq feet; same company charges £25 for the same area for a minimum of 12 months.

Expensive, isn't it?

Shirley - glad I made you laugh!

Just one more question if you don't mind - what size of unit are these £100 ones?

My son has one of these in Northants.

£100 a month; same as Shirley I'm getting the hang of it (I nearly posted Get Me out of here, just as well I check before posting!)

I think smaller units are available but don't have prices for those.

cheapest one we found in Medway area of Kent was £100 per month Grandaughter was moving out of a shared house and coming to live with us for a few months .Was cheaper to sell her white goods and we stored what we could in our loft. The money she saved she was able to buy new washing machine etc when she move into her flat a year later

Can anyone please tell me how much it costs to use those self-storage places? I've been on the internet but you have to get a quote, and all I need is a rough idea!

Many thanks.
