Medical authorities confirmed human fat is used in anti-wrinkle treatments - but is always extracted from the patient being treated, usually from the stomach or buttocks.

'There would be a risk of immunological reaction that could lead to life-threatening consequences' if fat from someone else were used, said Dr Neil Sadick, a professor of dermatology at Cornell Weill Medical College in New York.

Dr Adam Katz, a professor of plastic surgery at the University of Virginia medical school, was incredulous when told about the Peruvian ring.

'I can't see why there would be a black market for fat,' he said.

'It doesn't make any sense at all because in most countries we can get fat so readily and in such amounts from people who are willing and ready to donate that I don't see why there would ever be a black market for fat, of all tissues.'

Mmmmm Ann, I read that bit too.... but I also feel sad that it is fairly certain that people are being killed.... for body bits... maybe the fat issue was a sideline that one bright spark thought they'd try.

I don't really trust the media...... and I don't really trust the cosmetics industry... there are far too many smaller firms, in unregulated areas of the world, who would unscrupulously latch onto this, just in case there was dosh to be had from it!!

Lol.... Joy and BC... I have loads more... they can have mine, too.... my younger son always told me that it was my fat that kept the wrinkles plumped out nicely, lolol

Back a few years ago, Stray, I am sure there was a murder case (it might have been a film, mind, lol) where the body bits were minced into beefburgers or something???
