Morning LG.

Sometimes I miss it, but most of the time I'm glad that that phase of life is over. Mind you, Christmas isn't Christmas if I don't have a melt down while cooking the Festive meal :-D

LaGooner Report 22 Dec 2012 10:13

You need not have a melt down just take my motto. When it's black it's done :-D

Hi all, are you all ready for the big day?

Thank you for the lovely cards :-) :-) :-) :-)

LG, I can't see the post about why H had to go to hospital for surgery but I hope she's alright now.

My husband has just come back from the shops, he said it was a nightmare. I'd better go and unpack the bags now............. then at least I can say I've done something. :-)

LaGooner Report 22 Dec 2012 10:17

Morning Pauline, how lovely to see you :-D

Hope you are coping with your aches and pains and that next year will be better in that department than this <3

Is your OH good with shopping lists, or is he likely to have forgotten half of it, and added in things you've already got/don't want?

LaGooner Report 22 Dec 2012 10:20

Good afternoon everyone. It is going to be a very relaxing day for me today, just a few chores and then we are going to Symphony Hall in the City for the Christmas Carole concert, this is one of my favourite events of the Christmas period, and I am all up and ready for it when we leave. We will be going out for dinner after the concert, so no cooking for me today.

DET Perfect cure for melt down whilst cooking Christmas dinner,kitchen door shut, CD with Christmas songs, OH and me and a couple of G&Ts............ "PURRRRRRRFECT <3

YG

YG Report 22 Dec 2012 21:23

Evening everyone.

The panto was ok, quite a few laughs and the children all loved it! Worst bit was waiting 45 minutes for a bus. They only run once per hour after 8.30 so I didn't get in until 10.45pm.

Been a busy girl today. food shopping, final cleaning, tree finally completed and most of the presents wrapped! Phew, I'm exhausted now! :-D :-D

A few bits and pieces to do tomorrow then rest, rest, rest :-) :-)

Pleased that the surgery went well, LG.

Heat in the kitchen ?? My mother used to say 'when it's brown it's done, when it's black it's kna**ered!! :-D :-D

I hope you enjoyed your carol concert and meal out, Paula. It sounds lovely :-D

Well done, DET, getting all the shopping in!! I went to Sains***** early afternoon and managed to sneak into a space straight away, although it was very busy. I have seen it much worse, though, so I think a lot of people did it yesterday so that they could make it a long weekend.

Hope the shift goes well on Monday, Maz. I don't envy A at the Metro Centre today. Rather him than me :-D :-D

LaGooner Report 23 Dec 2012 08:38

Morning all, well it sounds like you were all very busy yesterday. Glad the panto was good YG. Pauls how lovely , I am hoping to get to the service on Christmas Eve when our church blesses the memory tree and we put the names of our passed on loved ones on it. This is a service with Carols too so that may help me feel Christmassy.

I will be off for a battle around the shops with OH today. I was supposed to do it yestreday but life went a bit pear shaped and it did not happen :-(.

Maz you can coome and do my lounge rug if you are feeling enthusiastic.

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 23 Dec 2012 09:16

Morning all -

Glad you enjoyed the panto YG, and hope you enjoyed your concert Paula..and the meal afterwards. Do you ever stop with the cleaning Maz? Blow that for a laugh!

For a horrible moment yesterday, we thought we'd have to brave the shops, but then we found the spare gravy granules buried at the back of the store cupboard. Phew!

Gammon joint is on to boil, and PC is intending to bake today. Most offerings are destined for work tomorrow, but we are hoping there will be a few mince pies left over to add to the half dozen already frozen. OH has decided he wants to try his hand at flakey pastry for the sausage rolls tomorrow, which co-incides with the 'Big Clean' :-(

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 23 Dec 2012 09:19

Morning DET. I have baking to do too but when?? Who knows :-D.

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 23 Dec 2012 09:30

As long as you have the basics, leave it at that. It certainly doesn't help if something goes 'pear shaped' as has happened in your household! Have you thought about purchasing a substitute when you go shopping today? Or asking your guests to contribute to the baking schedule?

Despite best intentions, I did give in and bought a swiss roll the other day, which has been butter-iced as a Yule log. Originally I had put my foot down and said Cheese and biscuits for tea, but now the list has grown to the usual. :-0

PC smirked at the original statement as she knew OH would start mentioning other customary foods and that I'd give in.

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 23 Dec 2012 09:34

No problems with it DET it is only OH's supply of Mince Pies. :-D. Xmas is a very quiet one for us this year it will seem strange. The only day we are having visitors is Boxing day and that will be H and the Mini Gooners and son and girlfriend just popping in to say hello.
