Det, my hubby is getting very good at shopping, he'll be even better once he gets it into his head that he's not feeding the 5 thousand.

My 3 nieces always come here on Christmas Eve but this year we had enough food to feed about 33 people. :-| :-D

YG, we managed to find 'The Snowman and the Snow Dog' on Channel 4 +1 @ 9pm, so didn't miss out :-D

Pauline, for the same reason OH is like your's, feeding the 40 thousand. I think it stems from Farmhouse kitchen festivities at his grandmother's and her extended family. Although I've tried to rein him in over the years, he still tries to go OTT.

For some reason, OH got up early today........he must have wanted to poke around under the Christmas Tree.....He said that we have a lot to do today. What exactly? It's all under control! :-S

I'll probably been on for a bit this morning if YG or anyone is lurking on this busy day.

Morning DET. I am lurking as it is a quiet one for me today, Oh Bliss. Sitting her in PJs drinking coffee.

Morning LG - enjoy the peace while you have the chance. It seems strange on the occasional years when we don't have visitors, so on that basis, I hope you don't miss the hustle and bustle too much.

With Mum and Dad gone, and the offspring with their own partners and *their* parents, its getting more and more difficult to co-ordinate. Mustn't grumble, life doesn't stand still :-)

Life never stands still in this house DET ;-). We truly are going to enjoy the peace today though as we have had a huge houseful for many years. It comes of having a large extended family.

Although as a youngster we used to go to my Aunt's on my mother's side (one of the other Aunts lived across the road and used to bring her family over) Mum fell out with them. So then there was only us 3 and my Dad's father. Some years we used to have our 'Summer holiday' in December and go abroad. I'm rapidly coming round to thinking the same. Who knows? May be next year we'll fly off to somewhere warm ;-)

Bother - the Ancestry 25 Dec Door doesn't open :-0

Funnily enough last year we said we might go away this Christmas for a change and a rest. As things have turned out this year we seem to at least be getting the rest ;-). Our holiday for later in the year is already booked too so we have that to look forward to.

When the children were younger, I'd floated the idea of going away for Christmas in the UK, somewhere like an all inclusive holiday park.

Eldest thought it a good idea.....................as long as I cooked Christmas dinner. Nooooooooo!

Where are you off to next year? More grave hunting, or something completely different?

We are off to Somerset and then Dorset. A little bit of grave hunting in Somerset area but not a lot.

I best do the same :-D. Just had a text from H and must remember to phone my lad when he finally gets up. He has worked 14 days solid 12 hours a day poor love. We saw him last night and he looked shattered.

I had a really good sleep and am feeling much brighter.

One of my friends has bought me a Bill Tarmey cd that I wanted. There is a very personal tale connected to it and I delighted to have in my collection again, even though it brought tears to my eyes listening to it :-) :-)

I am off for a bath and to make myself look more human (if that's possible :-D :-D), then I will be loitering with intent whilst preparing dinner :-D :-D
