Good morning all – since you seem to enjoy entertaining Paula, are you available for hire? We’ve 11 adults for New Years Day lunch, so any assistance is welcome. We need to finalise the menu and sort out a shopping list.

Well done on your purchases YG. We also braved the sales and bought new fitted bottom sheets, a bath mat, shower rail (lost the tape measure so hope it fits) and next years’ Crackers. OH wouldn’t let me browse M&S sale rails. Grr. :-0

Odd how that so many people have coughs and colds when they have a break, isn't it? Your shift pattern can't be helping your body to fight if off. Try and take it easy when you can. <3

Good morning all. Yes DET I do love entertaining but I am all cooked out for now. We are just going shopping as I feel in the need of some serious retail therapy. Lots of coughs and colds are doing the rounds at the moment, not good of course, but nothing like as bad as the dreaded Noro virus, that is the most dreadful virus I have ever had. I hope you will be feeling better soon Maz.

YG Report 29 Dec 2012 12:56

Afternoon everyone.

Hope you soon start to feel better, Maz. I normally go down with a cold when I have a break from work and stop rushing around, but touch wood, I have escaped up to now this year.

Well done in the sales, DET, but booooooooo to your OH for not letting you browse in M&S!! You only wanted to window shop anyway. You wouldn't have dreamed of spending any more money, would you :-D :-D :-D

I am sitting waiting for son to arrive to finish off the jobs for me, so with luck I shall have new curtains hung in the hall and all my china plates on the walls and the new light fittings up and working.

I just have some touching up to do, paintwise, where the new striker plates have been fitted and the new doors to paint then I am done for a few weeks until I feel refreshed enough to start the bathroom. I won't be getting out the paint brushes until the new year though. This is a complete rest period for me till next Wednesday :-D

Deffinately Boooooooooo to OH. He gets panicky in crowds and has to get out ASAP. It was rather surprising that he suggested the outing in the first place.Me? Spend Money? As if! Well, we'll never know now, will we? :-D

Still waiting for OH to get his act together for the supermarket. I wonder if yesterday's episode has put him off?

Paula - we only 'entertain' family, but I get in a stew if it's for the extended crew, as this is. Part of my insecurity is that I feel that I'm being 'judged' even though this is probably not the case. :-(

Pleased that you enjoyed it, LG!! Are you recuperating this evening?? :-D

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 29 Dec 2012 19:37

Oh yes I did :-D. I did not need to recuoerate what a wonderful bunch of kids, really well behaved and a pleasure to take out.

Wonderful evening, just sat watching my lads play what a match :-D

YG

YG Report 29 Dec 2012 20:05

What a pleasure to be able to take out well behaved children :-D :-D

I have just sat down. Son has been here finishing off all the jobs. It took him six hours, bless him, but he has done everything for me.

We had a laugh with the vertical blinds. He hung the slats and we started at opposite ends putting the chain on the bottom. I missed one slat just after we started and we swopped over so that he could put it right. I started putting the back chains on and realised that he had missed a slat. We had already cut off so it left us short for one slat. Then he realised that he had missed one on the other side!!! I will have to order another two lengths of chain to replace now, but I couldn't do anything but laugh :-D :-D I'm so pleased that it wasn't me that did it!!

I hadn't eaten since breakfast so did cuppas and some cake. While I was busy the cat helped himself to the madeira cake on my plate!! I have found something he likes at long last!

Just off to cook my steak quickly!! :-D :-D

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 29 Dec 2012 20:07

Hope you get it cooked before the cat eats that too ;-). My you have been busy bees. I have loads of jobs to do but no enthusiasm to do them :-D

YG

YG Report 29 Dec 2012 20:27

I have just sat down with my dinner and to all intents and purposes Duffy was fast asleep with his paw over his eyes >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> so I thought!! He is now eyeballing my dinner and waiting for me to share it. This is becoming a regular habit :-D :-D

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 29 Dec 2012 20:36

Ah that's what cats do best. Mine are like that, totally ignore us until food is out then instantly beside us watching and trying to make us take pity on them :-D

YG

YG Report 29 Dec 2012 20:46

He always wins, LG!! I have shared my steak with him. Now he is eyeing up a piece of chocolate and orange yule log, but he's not getting any :-D :-D
