YG Report 2 Jan 2013 16:55

Afternoon everyone.

Well, what a long, boring day. It was like a morgue in the office, with only one manager in and half of the remaining staff still on holiday :-( :-(

My job is safe, as is all our team. It's 'higher up the rankings posts' that are under major restructuring, but it still creates a lot of uncertainty in terms of whether new external directors will be brought in, or existing managers promoted if they qualify and what changes could ensue from that. There are going to be three phases, so it could be quite a long process. I am just gutted for my friend who thinks she will definitely go. The place won't be the same without her. As soon as all the work in the bungalow is finished next year, it will be a serious time for me to consider retiring.

You have all been busy bees today. I have cleared some things away but the tree will remain until the weekend. I shall then have to venture up the steps to try to get it back in the loft without falling :-D :-D

Darn it! OH has just pinched the packet of peanuts I was ‘finishing off’. At least he has replaced it with a cup of coffee.

Pity the job offer wasn’t made later in the year – he probably would have jumped at the chance after a few months of your ‘List’. If he does get bored, you could always suggest Consultancy. Mine got caught up in the downturn in the economy. The projects he thought would happen got put on the back-burner.

Try not to worry YG. The main thing for your friend to be concerned about is her health. If she is caught up in the redundancies, she might be able to negotiate a better package than she might otherwise have been given.

I think they have told her that she could apply for one of the other posts that is becoming available, but she has spent three years studying for her degree and qualified last May. They are talking about outsourcing her work which I would have thought would cost a lot more annually than her salary.

Next Wednesday the ones nominated for letters will be told, so I will know more then. I am putting it on a back burner until we know more :-(

Just off to answer some e-mails, as I have put a cylinder vacuum on Freecycle and need to sort out who is the lucky person!!

I'll be back :-D :-D

Hi Maz, sorry to hear that you are still not feeling well. You never know how gps are going to react, particularly to cold viruses. Mine refused to give me anything for viral laryngitis and it took weeks to clear up properly.

Evening all, I do hope you get some help with the virus Maz. They do tend to linger on for ages sometimes.

Did you find out who is the new owner of your vacuum YG

YG Report 2 Jan 2013 21:53

Evening LG.

Oh 'eck, I nodded off! First day back and I'm knac***ed!! I didn't do a lot either :-D :-D

Yes, I have chosen a recipient for the vacuum cleaner. He has just e-mailed me back and we will arrange for him to collect it tomorrow. :-D

LaGooner Report 2 Jan 2013 22:32

Oh well done, I have loads to get rid of here. One day I'll get round to advertising it

YG Report 2 Jan 2013 22:43

I've found Freecycle quite useful. I even got rid of the two small pieces of carpet from each hall that I was going to take to the tip. Someone came to collect a bookcase and said that people would want the carpet for their allotments or sheds and she was right!

My neighbour does car boot sales and he has taken quite a lot of what I would call 'junk' and is happy to have anything that I am getting rid of. I wouldn't give him the vacuum though, as it is only 3 years old. Steptoe bought it for me as a birthday present. I don't like cylinder cleaners and already had an upright model. It is only a cheap A**** smart price model. It is going to someone whose young relative is setting up home and is short of things, so at least it will see them on for a bit.

My Gawd if my OH bought me a vacuum as a present I would do my biscuit and tell him where to put it ;-).

Good morning all -

Hope the rain stays off long enough for your walk Paula. And long enough for us to put the garden chairs away.

Not sure if we will go shopping today, or leave it until tomorrow. Either way, we are beginning to go stir crazy. Wonder if I can persuade him that he would really really enjoy a trip to M&S so I can spend my voucher? :-D

Post the list down the cyber hatch, and we'll see what we can do.

I'll give you a shout when we have the goodies, to give you time to open a window to receive the items via catapult. Hope nothing is going to be breakable! ;-)
