Morning LG and others awake.

With nothing worth watching on TV last night, OH had a Dr Who fest watching his Xmas DVD's of the early episodes with William Hartnell. The special effects and acting are laughable now. Who'd have believed we used to hide behind the sofa? :-D

Right then, INSET days. Back in the day (well about 5 years ago) schools had to be open to students 189 days in the year. Teachers had to attend an additional 5 days for training (the INSET days). IINSET days don't take away from teaching time, and by tacking them on to the beginning or end of a term/half term, they aren't disrupting the rythum (sp) of the school.

My original contract was for 189 days p.a. (no students, no work or pay). Then they changed it to force us to go in for Training Days. All well and good, but the training laid on was geared towards Teachers, not TA's and mainly inappropriate. I understand that at the place I work, it has changed slightly in that the TA's are attached to faculties and that much of the training is faculty based.

Have to get dressed early today; we're hoping for a phone call to meet our Cornwall friends for coffee at Sains. They've come up to give her sisters a break from looking after her dad whose gone and got himself a chest infection and is forgetting to take his meds.

Good morning..... sorry good afternoon! the morning seems to have whizzed by. I hope you are all ok. The sun is actually shining here today; it is a pleasure to look out onto the garden. I have ordered a bird station and we are hoping to get that set up as soon as it arrives. I have been advised to make sure it is well away from anywhere the cats or squirrels can lie in wait. :-S
OH has just gone to get his hair cut then we are going to Sainsburys, DET what fun it would be if we bumped into each other over coffee :-D

We have a man coming this afternoon to quote for a new front door, and replace patio door with French widows, they will probably cost more than the house was to build 65 years ago. Have a good day everyone.

YG Report 5 Jan 2013 17:16

Evening everyone.

I was up and about this morning, hours before you started hollering, LG!! I had some jobs to do that fur created!! I won't go into any more detail!!! Then I had to dash off to have my feet done! Came back and taken down all the 'C' stuff and managed to get it all back in the loft. Reminder to self >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> go out and buy some solid tall steps!!! These aluminium ones are so lightweight that I am afraid of toppling off them and that wouldn't be good for my brain or my back!!

Going to cook tea now and relax for the evening. I hope you are all having a pleasant day whatever you are doing. :-) :-)

Morning Maz.

Hope the clients are good and you can get some sleep tonight. PC's are supposed to be Waking Nights but the Ward manager decided to fill a shift on Friday so they couldn't sneak off in turn to get a nap in the lounge. As the powers that be are going to install CCTV, they'll have to work out were there are 'blind spots' :-( ;-)

No phone call yesterday for coffee with our friends, but family comes first and the arrangement was all very casual. They may go home today or later in the week depending on her Dad's recovery from med. created confusion. We may still get that call but aren't reliant on it.

12th Night and the Decs are coming down today. It's going to be very bare.

What was the solution to the (Norah?) problem on your tree YG? I can remember trying to sort it out and being in brief contact with your Aussie relative.

Morning one and all. 'orrible grey and misty here today. Does not give one the enthusiasm to get off ones behind and do anything :-D

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 6 Jan 2013 09:28

Morning LG - ditto. It was a bit misty when I first pulled the curtains back..... and it wasn't dirty windows!

As PC sometimes says - have a PJ day and dang the rest of it :-D :-D

Mazfromnorf

Mazfromnorf Report 6 Jan 2013 09:38

ours are pretty good i invest time in them as i go round doin the late meds run ,I turn all their heating down too ,a tip i learnt off a colleague cos when its colder they think it is time for bed lol ,and also make the requests eg hot chocolate or tea etc so they feel special it usually works ,one of the fitter ones tends to send us daft texts like there is a spider on the outside of my window so my reply is close the curtain .so wicked eh !!

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 6 Jan 2013 09:46

That's so mean Maz :-D

PC's patients have the power turned off to their rooms at midnight, and the staff refuse to make hot drinks on demand. Its a hospital, not a Home!
Turning the heating down is a good tip, not that it would work for her. The room thermostates have been wired up wrong, so one person may turn his up, and someone else boils :-|
