Morning Maz, don't wish the white stuff on yourself ;-) :-D.

Morning all - hope you feel better today Maz after your 'slob' day yesterday. You have or had been under the weather and needed to recuperate. Try not to push yourself so hard in the future. As YG says, the dust will still be there. Wasn't it Quinton Crisp who said that after a certain length of time, the dust doesn't get any thicker ;-)

Although we may have wintery showers over the weekend, we aren't to expect any significant amounts of the white stuff until Monday evening/early Tuesday morning and it should only be a couple of cm. The area will probably grind to a halt despite that :-0

Ironing mountain demolished yesterday, but the admin wasn't touched. May be today?

Have a good one, what ever your plans

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 12 Jan 2013 09:31

That was quick Maz! Well done to A for getting himself up and out before Noon :-D
Pity about the freezer space - you'll have to try and eat your way through what's there to make room for the next early morning shop ;-)

Morning all,it's a bit clarty this morning,funny weather

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 12 Jan 2013 09:47

Morning David

As a soft southern, Clarty was an unknown word, and had to be looked up

Northern English phrase, Meaning muddy or dirty.
I expect we'd probably say 'Mucky' as in grey, dismal and dank.

Hope it brightens up for you later :-)

Mazfromnorf

Mazfromnorf Report 12 Jan 2013 10:25

clarty is not this area ,it would be dour or ruddy cold lol

The only dictionaries need updating then Maz. A job for you perhaps? ;-)

No plans for going outside today, unless it's to the wheelie bin or compost heap. As long as we're warm indoors, it can do what it like outside!!

Good afternoon. Golly gosh! I am late on duty today. We are having a very lazy Saturday, no plans to go out and no one is due to call, however that may change when it is known that we are staying home :-D
OH has fixed the bird station in the garden and stocked it with food, I read through the ingredients in the fat balls, they look good enough to eat. OH has made sure it is not accessible to our cat and visiting furry creatures., so we are now awaiting our first feathered visitors. The sky looks full of something, I am hoping it is not snow. Stay warm everyone.

hi we are warm enough for snow it was in Billy Row earlier,about five miles away towards Towlaw ,Stanhope area

YG

YG Report 12 Jan 2013 17:13

No snow here yet, but I won't hold my breath!! We are usually quite lucky with being in a valley and tend to miss the worst of everything, unless it is blanket coverage like it was 2-3 years ago.

Typical that I got caught out with the last heavy snow, so I bought a snow shovel and plenty of salt when they became available again. The snow shovel has sat in the shed since then unused :-D :-D :-D

I don't want to tempt providence really, because although I love to see it when tucked up nice and warm indoors, I hate driving in it :-( :-(

Same here, YG, I only like the snow if I don't have to go out in it, it's pretty to look at but that's it.

We had a few flurries this afternoon but I think we'll get more tomorrow and Monday.

David, you must come from my part of the world, my husband has just come in from the garden and his shoes are very clarty, he's got clarts all over the kitchen floor. :-| :-|

YG Report 12 Jan 2013 18:16

Evening Pauline. I hope you are giving OH the mop to clear up his mess :-D :-D

I think clarty originates from Northern England / Scotland doesn't it?? It isn't an expression that is used in the area where I live.

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 12 Jan 2013 18:59

Good evening one and all. I have a scottish friend who uses the term Clarty and she uses it if anything is grubby or dirty.
