The forecast for our area has just said some more coming in tonight, but then nothing for the remainder of the week. It is just going to be very cold, around 2degs through the day.

Yes, they haven't faired as well. Garrowby Hill in the Wolds and North Yorkshire has had plenty, but that is always expected. I have seen snow on the moors in June!!

What a chatty lot you've been this afternoon/evening. Typically British talking about the weather ;-)

Shame that there was need to cancel the cinema Paula, but then no one really knew what was going to happen.

'They' still can't make up their minds if we are going to get any over night - it depends on which forecast you look at! There were a couple of wet flurries during the afternoon, but it didn't settle, thank goodness.

AS PC finishes her shift about 0730 to drive home, we're hoping the grit has had a chance to bed in and that she doesn't end up in a hedge or worse.

For Paula's info , PC stands for Problem Child. She's given us more worries than the others put together!

~~~~ to GGirl :-)
Mazfromnorf
Mazfromnorf Report 15 Jan 2013 09:22
Morning all - wrap up warm and wear suitable footwear if you have to go out. We can hibernate for the day :-D
I think it did snow overnight, but there isn't much left - most has melted unless it's in the shade. We're probably lucky that the ground is still warm. Although I haven't seen PC this morning, from the look of it her car is in one piece. Haven't been outside to inspect the rear or the driver's side!
Morning LG and all- about 4to5 inches of snow fell
over night and this morning and looks as though its
gonna be all week for us.
OH out clearing a space for our Westie in the back
garden, don't know why he bothers as he will just
dive in to the heaps of snow(Rory not OH) :-D
+++DetEcTive+++ Report 15 Jan 2013 10:26
Perhaps Rory doesn't like a cold b-u-m when he needs to 'perform'? At least he'll clean it off in the snow before he comes back indoors :-D
Hope your council are on top of things with gritters and snowploughs despite the cuts.
'Emma'
'Emma' Report 15 Jan 2013 10:33
LOL hahaha Det thats the best laugh I've had in ages.
Our gritters will appear when the worst is over, usually
they block our cul-de-sac when they use snowplough.
Rory loves the snow and when he is finished having fun
he looks like a poodle with clumps of snow all over him. :-0
As for a clean bum, leave OH to check that end :-D
Afternoon all. <3
PollyinBrum Report 15 Jan 2013 12:55
Good afternoon every one. My car was frozen over this morning . OH had parked it in the street last night as our drive is very steep and a bit tricky in ice and snow. , it took me ages to clear it, but I eventually was able to get going. I was at school this morning for my voluntary reading mentoring. Back home now, and made a Cottage Pie for dinner OH has had a tooth filled so needs something easy to chew :-D :-D
We are going to see Les Misérables this evening, I first saw the stage show in 1986!!!! , of couse I was just a child back then.
Thanks for the explanation DET, I am not very up on these, I once had to ask my nephew what LOL meant, and PMSL :-S
Be a good idea next time your'e out to buy a couple of sacks of rock salt.
While it's in the boot it's weight gives you added traction.
When it's on the ground it melts the snow.
PollyinBrum
PollyinBrum Report 15 Jan 2013 13:31
.Thank you David, we have some Rock Salt at the back of the of the shed, I guess we were just a bit lazy last night and I paid the consequences this morning. :-(
YG
YG Report 15 Jan 2013 17:35
Evening everyone.
The snow has virtually cleared here, but it is oh so cold!! Brrrrrrrrrr :-P :-P
Enjoy the film, Paula. Everyone seems to be raving about it, so I'm sure it will be good :-D
Hope the unseen bits of PC's car were ok when finally inspected, DET :-D :-D
The traffic on the main through road this morning was heaving at 7.30am. I don't know whether everyone had decided to leave extra early, but it took me half an hour to travel a couple of hundred yards. Once we got onto the main road, the traffic was clear, so I think there was a lot of 'rat running' this morning to avoid queuing.
Thursday is 'D' day at work, although I may know tomorrow whether my friend is affected as letters should be arriving at home addresses inviting those affected to a meeting on Thursday. They will be seen individually, but everyone has to attend a briefing at 3pm. Watch this space :-( :-(
