Good morning every one. School mentoring this morning, then off to pick up birthday cake for yongest Grandson, I will be calling in the butchers on the way home, I saw him at the Golf Club on Sunday he said all this horse meat malarky is bringing in new business, Horse OR Beef? people just want to know what they are eating. It's an ill wind ;-) Have a good day hope all is well where you are. :-D

Morning all

Glad the tea with grandaughter went off well YG. If you can fit a few more in while you are flavour of the month, she may jump up and down and insist when you're not!

I bet Maz is shattered after her long hours of work. Time off is to recoup, not flog your self to death with chores ;-)

With this Horse for Beef row going on, its just as well that we rarely buy convenience foods. When we do, they are normally chicken products with little yellow stickers! The Horse may be 'safe' to eat, but who knows if it had been treated with Bute which is supposed to be harmful to humans? There's no documented chain of supply + miselling/labelling all be it unknowingly.

Enjoy your day Paula - it sounds a relatively easy one for you. Mind you don't drop the cake!

Hope GG's babysitting duties weren't too arduous...it'll be a different matter once she starts moving about and you have to get down on the floor (and up again) to play with/rescue her :-D

DET I heard on radio 4 as I was driving home there was much discussion re processed food. I rarely buy convenience food, but this was enough to put you off for life. I always read the labels but I am afraid that they are not always honest or accurate, and sadly these must have been a conscious decisions by the food producer YUK .

Elmo (the cake) is absolutely fantastic our little chap will not to cut it............

We love baby sitting. We will be seeing for our five little treasures on Thursday for Birthday Party. :-D :-D Friday I will probably be taking things easy :-D

I think it has blown out of proportion living on the continent for ten years ,I have eaten horse i am in no doubt but what is wrong is that we have been decieved .
it will be interesting to see whta else happens as the testing gets more rigorous ,and as we all love a bargain with meals etc we will see many more revelations i suspect .

I do agree Maz, sometimes things take off and do seem to get out of proportion. However, the programme I heard referred to Beef & Onion Pies containing chicken skins. I have eaten Horse meat many many years ago, not my favourite meat, but at least I was aware of what I was eating.

Hi Paula

I am not surprised as firms are trying to make a proffit ,
Howevr it would be nice to know during the war they ate anything i guess to get protein and be full but at least we have the choice now

Evening all.

Pancakes for me tonight!! Yummy, but very naughty with the Golden Syrup!! A treat once in a while for me!! :-D :-D

I don't buy many processed foods thank goodness!! I think I had horsemeat in Austria many years ago and wasn't keen. It's just the fact, that as DET rightly says, there are no controls in some countries so we do not know what medication has been fed to the animals that could cause harm to humans.

Profit, profit and more profit!! That's the only scruples that some businesses have in the modern world, unfortunately.

Morning LG and everyone else looking in.

Shopping day today. As we don't have to provide an evening meal for PC, we might spring for a lunch out :-D

Oh dear Maz, we have a little weak sunshine but bloomin chilly. If I disappear apologies as my internet is having a funny fit again. Seems everytime we have a spell of rain and snow it plays silly beggars. :-|.

Hee hee - we're supposed to miss any more white stuff for the foreseeable future. :-D
PC has been staying elsewhere since Sunday. She says that our local area is the only one stil lto have the remnants. I think that its probably because we are at a slightly higher elevation.
Has Frog managed to get off the moors yet?

The BT engineer used to say that the water got into the junction box at the end of the road when it rained. Worth having a word with them? Since they replaced ours a year or so ago to accomodate ' Infinity' there hasn't been any problems.
