Morning CT. How nice of your OH to comment on your achievements!! You shoudl have recorded it to remind him later when he forgets to say anything :-D :-D
I have been resting far more than I intended to!! The painting still isn't done as my cold has dragged me down somewhat, but the brushes are ready and waiting now for me to start today. There isn't much to do fortunately, but it must be done as I am back to work tomorrow and it has to be finished it ready for the carpet tiles to be fitted on Saturday.
I stumbled across this and thought of us all, but particularly LG :-D :-D

Morning all.
Hope you found something to do in Durham yesterday Maz, what with all the shops being shut. The transposrt system must have been a bit sparse as well.
We'll be glad when it warms up a bit. While it's chilly we've no inclination to get up and go. Our days are very predictable - alternating between computer, reading and TV. We don't make much mess so not really any tidying up or significant cleaning to do! OH cut back 'his' herb garden; I have a suspicion they should have been trimmed rather than hacked. Time will tell. Something, probably slugs, has decimated the Parsley as it's been chomped to the same height rather than die-off if it were the cold. He's also decided that the grass needs a cut, but its going to be difficult to find a day when it's dry enough. Signs of Spring at last, with a few daffs beginning to bloom. I might start off the runner beans to germinate in toilet rolls on the bedroom windowsill.
If this is the last day of your holiday YG, make the most of it. Weren't you intending to have an 'away-day'? ;-)

Cross posted with YG. Good morning! So no going out for you then!
FYI, I didn't forget to change the clocks. It's just that I was still on the computer at 0100 when it changed itself to 0200!

Morning DET.
Yes, we were planning an away day, but the time has been eaten up for my friend with filling in application forms and taking her Mum to the hospital :-( :-( In fact, all three of us are there on Tuesday, but at varying times so I am not likely to bump into them. :-D :-D
An ex colleague is calling sometime today to show me her new car that she has bought with some of her redundancy money. She starts a new job in Leeds tomorrow, so all is good for her. :-)
If my friend secures a new job we are planning a 'girly holiday' later in the year, so fingers crossed :-) :-)
I don't blame you lazing around in this weather. There is no real motivation to do anything is there? My grass was scarified at the back end of last year so it hasn't grown as much as it normally does, so at least I don't have to think about that yet!! They are saying that April is going to stay cold, so apart from some possible weeding, I might not have to do much until May.
Breakfast time over, Time to get in gear and do something!! :-D :-D

What a good move for your ex-colleague to use the redundancy money to buy a reliable car for commuting. OH did much the same some 25 odd years ago. And don’t say ‘if’ your friend gets a job, but ‘when’!
Pity you won’t be able to meet her at the hospital, but with the way appointments are delayed, you never know! Is this the eyes or shoulder for you?
Although not a practising Christian, there are 3 days of the year where I try my hardest not to go out to spend cash – Christmas Day, Good Friday and Easter Sunday. I hope the people who staffed the places open in Durham where given the option not to work.
Paula – a page or so back you said that an old friend had been to stay. How wonderful for you both. You and she sound like our ‘old’ friends – the ones we met before being chucked out of Sainsbury’s Café!
Forgot to mention – my Aunt died yesterday. At least she didn’t suffer for long. A cousin (not the daughter) phoned to tell me as the immediate family went to her’s after leaving the hospital. As she is close in age to the Aunt, they probably thought it best to tell her in person.

No, don't keep us in suspenders! :-D
Although it may seem heartless, death is part of the circle of life. It might have been different if we were 'close' but life goes on ;-)

OK, then ...
was trying to think of an April Fools to play on OH (which wouldn't involve me having to clean anything up) Before he got up I put all clocks in the house forward by two hours, and had the men who are currently flagging patio in on it too so when he got up at 9.30 they reckoned it was nearly dinner time. I didn't think he'd fallen for it, even when he said that his watch must have stopped. He went into town to pick prescription up, (pharmacy shut of course with it being later opening on a bank holiday) then went for breakfast. Apparently it was only when he was reading the newspaper while having brekkie about Richard Branson's glass bottomed plane that he realised that it's 1st April!

Good afternoon every one. Just thought I would tell you it is flipping freezing here today. DET we are taking my friend out for lunch at the Golf Club, my son as just texted me to say he & DIL will be joing us, the girls are on Cadet camp on Sailsbury Plain, I hope it's warmer there. Sorry about your Aunt, is this the second one you have lost recently?
Have a good day everyone :-D

That's a good one CT :-D :-D Hope he wasn't too cross with everyone.
Enjoy your Golf Lunch Paula - how lovely that your son wants to join you. It must be perishing on Salisbury Plain, but she is probably well prepared. Afterall, the ngiht time temperatures are often low at this time of year, even if it isn't cold enough fro frost.
This is the same Aunt, the one I was told was ill 10 days or so ago. She was the last of the siblings. Unless they had a diagnosis for a while, it was pretty quick. Her daughter said that she was pragmatic when she found out. She was 86, probably of the generation who put aches and pains down to old age and don't want to make a fuss - hence the late diagnosis

Sorry to hear about your aunt, DET. However much it is expected, it is still a huge loss the close family.
CT, I loved your April Fool's prank. Are you in the doghouse now, or is your OH still talking to you :-D :-D
Well done on the bargains, Maz and for being brave enough to go out!! I haven't ventured anywhere and am struggling to keep warm. I had a bad night with my cough, so fell asleep this afternoon!! A bit of painting has been done, but not finished :-D :-D
DET, I'm at the hospital for another eye injection tomorrow. The shoulder is good now so hopefully I won't have to be referred for that, as I can have another cortisone injection in a few months time if it starts again. My friend is going at 10.30 and my appointment is not until 4.15pm. I will book a taxi there and back as I cannot drive afterwards. Based on previous experience, they keep very good time at the eye clinic and I am usually in and out within 30 minutes.

Bargains? What bargains? Must have missed that! Ah - the freezer section when shopping!
Well, we braved the elements, wrapped up warm and went for a walk around a Country Park. What with our total lack of fitness and rotten lungs, we were pooped after an hour's stroll. Mind you, a coffee and cake soon made up for that, except that I can't be bothered to cook the joint tonight. At least it will keep for tomorrow.
Are you having tomorrow off as well YG? Lots of time until you have to leave to do various things.
If Durham could guarentee warm and dry weather, it might be worth a visit. If you were proposing it for a future meet, LG and I might have to arrange overnight accomodation as it's a bit far there and back in one day.

You always have an eye for the bargains, Maz! I haven't even been out to the shops today!
I am going in to work tomorrow, DET, but will be off on Wednesday. Planning to go back on Thursday if my eye is ok.
Maz will have to give us the lowdown on Durham. I haven't been there, so cannot comment on the weather!
