Morning all

Hope you just meant frost Maz, not precipitation! It might dry outside as long as A can remember to get it in before it freezes again.

Durham sounds quite interesting. It’s not somewhere we’d have thought of as a tourist destination, probably as we prefer guaranteed warmth and sun. We’ve still not made a decision if or where to go this year. Now that we don’t have offspring to worry about, we are more willing to consider touring holidays within the UK. We both agreed after last year that only sitting by the pool is not something for us – we need sight seeing opportunities as well. We had said that the next foreign destination should be Istanbul, but who knows?

Congratulations to YG’s once removed cousin on the birth of her new baby, and good luck at the hospital today.

Having not cooked the Pork yesterday, I’ve promised PC a lunch time roast before she goes on a twilight shift. That’s 1600-Mindnight so that there’s enough time for her to eat even if it isn’t ready by 1300!

hoping that all went well with YG's injection, and that Maz's washing isn't frozen stiff!

I am actually being spoken to after yesterday's prank. When he came home he gave me a wry smile, rather than a LOL. It could have been worse!

Evening all.

DET, you are losing the plot. It is LG that has had a new addition to the extended family!! :-D :-D

We had quite heavy snow showers here at 6am this morning and was settling well. Luckily it stopped before I left for work, particularly as the car wouldn't start and I had to call out the AA :-P :-P

No sign of it at all now, the sun has been out all afternoon and it has turned out quite 'springlike' :-) :-)

Got home from the hospital about 20 minutes ago. The anaesthetic is just starting to wear off so I am in for an uncomfortable evening. It was my eye candy man on duty, but he has confessed to bruising the eye and causing a bleed this time, so I am hoping that everything is going to be ok. I told him I would rather have had a facial but he doesn't do those :-D :-D

Enjoy your sleepover, Maz. I hope all is peaceful for you. :-)

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 2 Apr 2013 23:24

Er - sorry about that. it's not the first time this week in real life.

Do you realise how difficult is it to de-FROST a hot kettle? :-0

Had a funny conversation down at the PO today while looking for a sympathy card.

An elderly lady aged about 80 from her appearance asked me if I knew the cost of a birthday card she'd picked up
£1.70 for all intents and purposes.
Anyway, as this rather floral card was for a 12 year old girl, I suggested that it might be a little too 'grown up' for her age group.
We looked at various cards and look at the prices.
How much was the original one? £1.70. This was repeated about 4 times.
She also tells me that she needs to go to the Bank for money to go into it.

At the shop counter, she asks the assistant if she had already bought one today. No, not this afternoon. She delves into her bag and produces a different card still in its paper bag, but that's Ok because it is for someone else.

Me being helpful asks her if she needed a stamp. Oh yes, but the assistant says that if she only wants singles she needs to go to the PO counter at the back of the shop.

So off she trots only to come back to tell me she needs to go to the bank first.
I wonder if those 2 cards will ever go in the post? :-D

Hope you get a restful night's sleep YG and won't look to bad in the morning. <3

:-D :-D :-D That will be me in a few years time, DET!! I hope someone as considerate as you offers me some help!! :-)

Well another day off work! I could quite happily do one day on and one day off!! Wonder if I would get away with it :-D :-D

Our new director is at the office for two days, so I am hoping to be ok to go in tomorrow. It is very strange there now with everyone gone and things are changing rapidly. :-( :-(

It is a beautiful day today, although a heavy overnight frost.

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 3 Apr 2013 09:29

Morning YG

Hope you're not too sore this morning.

It must be so odd at work especially if there are empty desks in the office. Ideally, I'd have liked to work 3 days a week in a block so that it was possible to have a 4 day weekend.

A friend had handed in her notice with the intention of leaving 1 May. She then had second thoughts as she was worried that she wouldn't have contact with anyone under the age of 60 (ie retirees) and has taken it back. There's been a bit of juggling with her hours; she's going to take on a different roll for 3 mornings a week, but as they haven't found a suitable candidate for her current roll, she'll probably end up doing some of that as well. Her line manager will still be the same person....that person being the reason for resigning in the first place!

Glad to hear you only have frost. We are supposed to have snow showers this afternoon and over night with 'a covering'. It shouldn't hang around for long.

YG

YG Report 3 Apr 2013 09:56

Morning DET.

I am just lurking and having breakfast. My eye is really sore this morning, but at least I can stand and do the bit of ironing that needs doing!!

I am considering part time later in the year or next year. I don't know what precedents will be set now as everything is changing. Previously, you had to do 2.5 days, so that it leaves sufficient hours for another part timer, I would have preferred 3 full days, like you, in a block. I don't want to be doing one on, one off or five half days.

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 3 Apr 2013 10:06

You can but ask at your next review/assesment thingy. It might even cut down on their NI bill! To my mind, going part time is an excellent way to ease yourself into retirement and job sharing is one way to give empolyment to someone else.

The school I used to work at were very aminable to part timers who did the same roll as I did, but since a change in regime, they won't offer let anyone cut down on their hours.

Don't try and do more than is comfortable today and try to rest perhaps while listening to the radio. Then you can have a snooze :-D

YG

YG Report 3 Apr 2013 10:37

I will probably have a snooze this afternoon and catch up on some lost sleep :-D :-D

Enjoy your shopping if you go today. :-) :-)

Good morning everyone, I hope you all had a good Easter. We had the little ones all day yesterday wonderful! ... but we were both shattered, how is it possible a five year and a two year old can do this. YG I went to part time working in October last year, now just go into work as and when I am needed. The college is becoming busier they are asking for more hours, it is possible I won't be working so much as I don't want to do more, which will be fine for me. I am loving my retirement and wonder how I managed to fit work in. I hope your eye is not so sore.

DET your post office story made me smile. Years ago my friend sent her son ( about 11 years old) to the Post Offfice for a berevement card, on his way there he got distracted he had forgotten what the card was called by the time. The man in the Post Office asked J what it was for and he said its "A sorry you are dead" card. I still smile when I think of him coming back home with the right card. Have a good day everyone. I am off to keep fit later :-D
