YG Report 22 Jul 2013 19:27

Evening LG. Same here. Started off very dull this morning, but picked up and is lovely now, but very heavy. Bad night's sleep, me thinks :-(

Even we are wilting! Its still 26 outside but feels fresher than indoors. It got up to 36 on the garden themometer, but that does catch the sun.

Heat I can take. Humidity Bluh!

BM and J had a good time away. They didn't find it uncomfortabley hot here at all. BM wanted to take the fan he'd stored for the last 5 years home with him. Too late - PC walked off with it 10 days ago. That'll teach him to clear out his cupboard!

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 22 Jul 2013 20:55

Test results are good - at least there is one less thing for you to worry about.

Is there some sort of sporting fixture on the TV? There is very little traffic going along the main road. Most odd

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 22 Jul 2013 21:00

NO Sport, the royal baby has arrived :-D

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 22 Jul 2013 21:06

And that makes people stay at home? It isn't as if we can hear chatting in the gardens if they were sitting outside.

Most odd!

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 22 Jul 2013 21:12

It might well do as I know a few that will be glued to the TV listening for every little detail. Not my cup of tea personally although I do wish them every happiness just as I would any new arrival

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 23 Jul 2013 10:10

Morning Maz

Quite agree about the birthing news. It took 15 mins of watching BBC news 24 before anything else was reported!

We had the promised thunderstorm overnight; the water butts are nearly full. Its clammy rather than humid now but the air smells some much more of nature.

‘The’ wedding might take place next year, during one of the school holidays as she’s a teacher. Current thinking is either the parish church where she was baptised near York (Aunts & 99 year old grandmother live in the area) or near her family home – her mum can do all the on the spot arranging.

Bathroom window handle all sorted within 15 minutes of making the phone call. Apparently its still covered by the FENSA guarentee, so no charge :-D

CrystalTips Report 23 Jul 2013 14:34

What a good do Det! Pleased you got the handle sorted so quickly - some good news at last! Of course it's good news about LG's blood tests, we must be careful not to wind her up and cause more stress.

I didn't find out until this morning about the Royal baby, because I wasn't avidly watching or listening for news. At the time of his birth however I was on the 'phone to my daughter to say Happy Birthday at her birth time (4.20, he was 4.24) Something for her to remember and pass on through the generations I suppose.

I promise not to jinx the weather any more! Summer frocks ironed, and have been sewing today - cutting the ribbony hanger thingies off dresses that don't need them, and sewing onto skirts which do.

It was just before 6.30 this morning when the thunder and lightning struck here. I was on my computer so closed everything down. I know it's a different Internet connection now, and shouldn't worry, but I'm always wary ever since I was 'struck' by lightning at work when we were on dial-up, it zapped me on my hands, arms and neck through the keyboard :-|

YG Report 23 Jul 2013 18:01

Evening everyone.

Plenty of rain here today and overnight too, but no thunder as yet. We had a lovely hot sunny spell for a couple hours early afternoon then it changed again. Still hot and heavy,, but a breeze blowing in through the lounge window!!

We used to have to turn off everything in Africa during the thunderstorms. It was terrific lightning there and many lost their microwaves and tvs. I still turn off the lappy here just in case!! That must have been quite nasty, CT, getting a shock like that.

Well done on getting the handle fixed, DET!! A wedding in York!! Not far at all. Maz and I could get our fascinators out yet!! :-D :-D

No stress for LG, please!! We must be good girls and Errol will have to behave too :-D :-D

Don't I always?

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 23 Jul 2013 18:25

I think you've jinxed the weather already CT! Never mind, LG was really suffering in the heat.

We had an empty bucket outside last night; by this morning, there was about 1 1\2" of water in it. No rain during the day although it has come over cloudy and smells as if there is rain in the air.

We never unplug electirical equipment in a thunderstorm, although we often shut down the computer. Our daughter is handling a legal action/insurance claim where she works - the claimant was on the phone when the system was struck by lightening. She now has severe tinitus in that ear. :-(

Just reminiscing with a friend who also experienced the sudden overhead storm.

She had to 'phone BT on behalf of a neighbour whose telephone line was struck by lightning. The telephone had melted, her curtains were scorched along the bottom where the telephone cable ran along. The woman at BT asked "can she still get a dialling tone?"
