Wa Hoo! Yippee! Good timing too as it it means you can save up now for anything else, and still have time to save for next years holiday :-D :-D

you've all been out spending! Hope you enjoyed your makeover YG. Did you buy any glitter for the throne room? That will be funny, Her Maj won't be able to get rid of it - it takes months to get rid of a little bit from Christmas cards!

I uploaded the e-books files this afternoon to a site where you can send large files, it took quite a while and then when I tried to send I got an error message 'it looks like you are trying to send multiple files' and of course I was (600 of them!) My e-mail was playing up sending so I went down a different route, you should get an e-mail with a link. You may have to sign up, but it's free and get 2gb storage, and can share files easily (fingers crossed!)

Det and Maz, if you would like any e-books just p.m. me your e-mail address

Cor! Free books! Of course. Mind you, I'm mainly into Thrillers, Detective stories and the such like with the occasional fantasy/sci-fi thrown into the mix ;-)

If you have a gmail account, you also get Google Drive and 15 GB of cloud storage.

It is easy to use and easy to share with others - if anyone wants to use it and needs a hand just give me a shout.

Just sent to you as well Det, It didn't take as long now that I've uploaded them. Let me know if you get them OK, and let me know if I've shared anything else as well as the books!

I'll p.m. you the link to what I used to put them on my Kindle.

Guess what keeps catching my eye on my landing - glitter! I put big bags of dog food up there and decant them into smaller tubs, and store things like washing liquid, fabric conditioner etc. when I've bought them on offer. I must have disturbed some Christmas stuff. Glitter will now end up on me, towels, on OH if he uses the towel ...

Flipping heck eRRol, I didn't recognise you!

I always forget about Google, I don't use my Gmail very often. Would you like 600 books?

I mentioned you the other day - I'm converting VHS tapes, and need help in converting from Quicktime.mov

YG

YG Report 5 Aug 2013 19:41

Thank you for the offer, eRRol. I might have to take you up on it!!
What's with the avatar??
Have you got anything hidden away that will do to decorate the throne room ready for when Ms Gooner returns to the Lodge?

DET, I would like some more Steve Robinson books, but he hasn't written any!! Problem!! :-D :-D

CT, thank you for sending them. I will have a look when I have eaten!!

eRRolSheep Report 5 Aug 2013 19:42

I do enjoy a good read.

Have you already converted the VHS tapes to Quicktime.mov ?

If so, what do you then want to convert them to?

eRRolSheep

eRRolSheep Report 5 Aug 2013 19:44

YG the avatar is only a very temporary thing.

Is your fleece in the wash?? :-D ;-)

There have been a few cars round here with artificial grass stuck on as an advertisement. If we had some of that on the walls, it might help Errol feel at home ;-)

Thank you for the links CT. It all looks a bit scarey to a technophobe. I'll have a go at downloading when I'm fresher and have the in-house specialist on hand. OH doesn't like the idea of The Cloud. It's his paranoia don't'cha know.

ooh yes!

CrystalTips Report 5 Aug 2013 20:22

I must point out that I didn't choose the books Det, they were given to me, but there is a fairly good selection. I only converted some of them. I downloaded some others whilst youngest was doing her English degree, but they don't make for easy bedtime reading!

Happy to send them to you eRRol if you wish.

eRRol - I bought a music cassette converter just for things I know I will never be able to get again on CD, that was easy to use and convert to MP3, so subsequently bought the same make for video. A spur of the moment purchase and did not read the reviews, but it does seem fine digitising the VHS. I have several options on the import settings, one being interlaced / progressive. I tried the interlaced first, just in case I wanted to edit at a later date, and then de-interlace, but I no longer have access to Final Cut Pro. The Quicktime .mov seem to be the best quality so far, but won't play on my DVD player. I've got MacXDVD video pro, but it's when I convert to DVD in that when the audio ends up out of sync

eRRolSheep

eRRolSheep Report 5 Aug 2013 20:38

I take it you are running it on an Apple Mac

eRRolSheep

eRRolSheep Report 5 Aug 2013 20:50

Incidentally, interlaced will not work on an LCD display - for that it should be progressive.
If it is interlaced then it needs to be de-interlaced which leads to lag.

So, try it with the progressive option and see if it works.

Hope that makes sense.

CrystalTips Report 5 Aug 2013 20:53

Yes eRRol, OSX 10.7.5

I remember a friend who uses a pc complaining years ago about Quicktime, but at the time I had no problems with it.

CrystalTips

CrystalTips Report 5 Aug 2013 20:58

Thanks, Yes it does make sense eRRol, the latest import settings I have been using have been progressive.

Bit of a blow today - found out one of the kids videos I have already copied and binned is going for nearly £18 on A****n!

Morning everyone.

Who has busy overnight with the paint brushes and the glitter. It is all starting to take shape now.

LG thought she had us fooled with those booby traps, but we are way to clever :-D :-D :-D

By the time the throne has travelled on the roof of the car for two weeks in all weathers, I think it is going to look a little tatty when it returns. The crown will have gone rusty as well!! :-D :-D

I am off to start the unmentionables :-( :-( :-( At least the sun is shining today :-) :-)

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 6 Aug 2013 09:17

Morning All -

Yes the Throne Room is begining to look 'together' again. It'll be so much more restful than that Red and White ;-) :-D

I'm supposed to be doing the unmentionable, or at least a surface clean and tidy. The Out-laws have invited themselves over and will be taking us out to lunch :-( :-D

YG

YG Report 6 Aug 2013 13:46

Enjoy your lunch, DET.

I have been a really good girl this morning and got on with the unmentionables. Done a bit of flitting from cleaning to grass cutting, but am getting there.

Am off to get my nails done later this afternoon so will have to go easy on them afterwards :-D :-D I have chipped one this morning and don't want to spoil them any further :-(
