You have to make a start somewhere, DET :-D :-D

I am contemplating having to start packing everything away, but not sure yet when they are going to bring boxes. There is so much to do and with being at work full time I need to well prepared. I got the date wrong! It is 23rd September and less than six weeks away. At least I will be straight for the unmentionable season :-D :-D :-D :-D I hope!!

Yes, but where?

- Decorate the upstairs loo inc the vinyl floor tiles, but OH has suggested replacing the bowl and cistern
- Decorate the downstairs loo
- Wash down and/or decorate the extension where the PC and files are.
- Paint the front door and porch window, but we are contemplating a quote to replace them.
- Trim next door's Beech hedge to a manageable height - needs her permission and she is still trying to sort out Probate.
- Reboard the loft. it's either too hot or too cold. We'd have to empty it and get someone to help

:-( :-(

Decorate the downstairs loo!! It seems to be the simplest task!! :-D

What's this?

Has everyone decided to have a lie-in??? Wakey Wakey! :-D

YG Report 9 Aug 2013 11:58

Morning (just!!)

Only a short lie-in for me this morning, DET. Had to be up and in my right mind for an appointment at the hairdressers :-D :-D

I am just lazing the day away now, although I might tackle some ironing if I feel like it. The garden chair and my kindle sounds like a much better idea :-D :-D

Good afternoon!

Yes I had a lie in too, I didn't get up until almost 5 a.m.!

Det, I think YG has done well in prioritising / simplifying things on your to do list. In theory though I think you should start at the top and work down - but I can't imagine ever having to empty our loft! Decorate the downstairs loo instead.

I think you deserve a day doing only what you feel like YG. Enjoy!

I've been coming out of my shell after being AWOL, I don't know if any of you have noticed, I've posted on 2 other threads (don't think I've killed them) There was another one I was about to post on, I was zipping my mouth and sitting on my typing fingers whilst I considered my response, but then the thread got wooshed.

I probably would have got RRd for my comments anyway

Morning What a week my shifts have been hectic ,
A is due back later on .His room is finished we have a carpet to put down and a mattrass then his stuff will go back in tomorrow .
Froggy and i did the shopping last night ,I have cleared my washing in a readiness for A's later on we are going to a farm shop for lunch and some meat as its a lovely area and the food is yummy so that gives us a break .
The puss has fretted for A all week inspite of having company, this morning she is far mor settled and seems to know he is on the way back .The shift pattern at work has changed slightly to accomodate a new resident so we have a need for at least three of us around at tea time when the day opportunity transport arrives back .I will catch up with you all later .

Morning all -

Make sure you catch up on your rest Maz or else you'll come down with something. I bet both you and the cat will be pleased to have A back, even if it does mean more work. ;-)
Hope he appreciates his newly decorated room.
Enjoy your day out with Frog.

Well done CT for venturing into the wider boards. It's good to have a safe place to look out from before taking the plunge. Sometimes just sitting and reading the 'barney' threads is quite fascinating. I can't understand why people can't walk away, but perhaps that's because I've been brought up to be non-confrontational.

Not sure what our plans are for today - OH wants to go out and make the best of the weather. Sad to say that Summer is nearly over. Bring back the sunny, warm days :-(

You've been busy again Maz, I hope you have a relaxing lunch time with Froggy.

I think Det has spurred me on to tackle our loft. I've just been up there to decant some dog food. I'm not going to start today, but it is now on my list of things to do having had a look around at things up there which will probably never see the light of day again.

The car passed its' MOT this morning, I've never stayed and watched it being done before, it was quite interesting.

I had planned to do the garden today, but daughter has just phoned to ask if I will pop down to look after granddaughter while she tidies up ready for her 1st birthday tomorrow. A lot of her partner's extended family have not seen the house where they are now living so she is anticipating having to give guided tours.

Morning all –

Hope you enjoyed your day with Frog Maz. It’s quite unusual for you to have part of a weekend off! It must be mixed blessings to have A back. Do you think he is being civilised in the use of a washing machine when he’s away?

CT, picking up from the other day. If 5am is late for you to get up, what time do you usually aim for? Well done for at least surveying the loft. We tend to argue about treasures v junk that we each want to keep. Mind you, we are a bit better about weeding out the boxes that electrical goods came in, in case they needed to be returned. Why keep the box when the item gave up the ghost years ago?

Thanks for the update YG. Its good to hear that she is still in one piece.

We went for a walk in some woods we pass but never visit. It’s managed by the Woodland Trust adjacent to a ‘Country Park’ which you can’t reach unless you go by foot. The circular walk (via the pub!) we created was probably only a couple of miles, but seemed much longer. It wasn’t helped by ‘going wrong’. We’ve decided to get an orienteering compass – foot paths change, houses are built, hedges grubbed out. All very confusing!

Have a good day.

Ooo yes please! We rarely have a roast as it doesn't seem worth the expense for just the 2 of us ;-)

YG Report 11 Aug 2013 10:51

Morning everyone.

Good to hear that your house is not quite the chinese laundry that it normally is when A returns from his days away, Maz :-D :-D :-D

Roast beef sounds very good to me. I'm on my way!!

You had a good walk, then, DET, even if you did get a little lost en route. Why did I know that there would be a pub involved!! :-D :-D A compass will be a sound investment :-D :-D

I used to keep the boxes as well when I bought a 'small' kitchen appliance, but recycled them all when I moved in here. I can't climb into the loft. so everything I am likely to need is placed round all four sides of the loft hatch in easy reach.

I need to start sorting out things stored in the wardrobe that are never go to see the light of day and box them up in the hope that one of the workmen will place them in the loft out of way.

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 11 Aug 2013 11:22

'Via the pub' is one way of getting OH to trail blaze a new area. The other one is prior research that they have a cafe on site ;-) :-D

There are a couple of 'outdoor pursuit' shops in the shopping mall - although an orienteering compass would probably be cheaper on the internet, it gives us an excuse to go out. I'd like to get a pedometer as well. Then we'd really know how far (or not so far) we've walked.

Come to think of it, OH has a Mall gift voucher he hasn't used. Problem solved!

CrystalTips Report 11 Aug 2013 11:36

Morning everyone!

It sounds like a mini-meet at Maz's then for a roast Sunday lunch, obviously it can't be a proper one seeing Her Maj has swanned off on holiday! I'm pleased to hear she is having a good time.

It has quite often been 4.20 when I get up, Det., give or take five minutes. It's not the birds waking me up, as I'm realising how much darker it is in the morning. In fact I probably wake the birds up! When I come downstairs the dogs assume it's brekkie time, but go out in the garden first. I now have to put the outside light on, which prompts some tweeting but not the full blown dawn chorus.

I need to sort clothes out too YG, it's the trying on part to see what still fits me which scares me! We had a friend staying over last night, so I had to move my Winter clothes off the bed ready for putting away. I've a feeling I may need them again sooner rather than later so I temporarily moved them into youngest daughter's room. She's not due to come home until September anyway. By then I'll be swapping over again and be trying to find somewhere to put summer clothes.
