YG Report 14 Aug 2013 17:57

Oh goodness me, DET, you are having a time of it at the moment. :-0 :-0
Even though PC has no particular feelings for him, it is still very sad at such a young age.

My mower is electic with wheels and a roller to stripe the grass. It is pretty lightweight, so easier for me to use, but would prefer a petrol mower. It's just whether I would actually be able to start it that puts me off :-D :-D

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 14 Aug 2013 18:05

Exactly YG - the pull cord is the problem although he assures me that many have a push button. Still too many things to go wrong.

I think that PC is at work as she didn't answer her phone. Hope she is OK as she can get very emotional.

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 14 Aug 2013 18:37

PC has been messaging via FB which was quite a shock as I thought I had the 'chat' turned off!

She says she's fine, that she is sad, but not up-set. There will have to be a post mortem - he wasn't in a good place; his family hadn't heard from him for 3 days. In the past he has had physical health problems

Oh my goodness, Det, yet another shock to your systems. I hope PC will be OK, the news will not have registered properly yet xxx

YG Report 14 Aug 2013 19:19

PC is bound to be sad, as we all are when we hear of any death. Pleased that she is ok though and not over-reacting,

You are right about the petrol mower, DET. Even if it has a push button, I am sure something can go wrong that we females would not know how to fix!! :-D :-D

I have just had a leaflet through the door for evening classes at the local community centre. Perhaps I ought to consider a mechanical engineering course!! :-D :-D

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 14 Aug 2013 19:23

Apart from the intial 'Oh dear', we're fine. PC seems OK but who knows? At least she is at home and has her current b/f with her who is understanding. She is now in a quandry about whether to send a card; The mother hates her!
I've said leave it but say something appropriate to the father if/when she sees him at work. The parents and she work on the same site but don't normally have contact.

They probably broke up about 5 years ago, and he has been in another relationship since then......which appears to have broken down :-(

YG Report 14 Aug 2013 19:57

I think you are right, DET. Perhaps she will be damned if she does and damned if she doesn't. If she has the chance to have a word with the father, then at least they know she has offered her condolences and is thinking of them.

Maz - when are you going to spend time and money on yourself? You are such a good, generous, hard working person. Do you ever get a day off?

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 14 Aug 2013 23:42

It's much more fun spending someone elses money :-D :-D
Was this with the clients?

Some good news? Umm.......we had lunch out at Sains, and Tiramasu was on offer at 99p :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

Morning all - anyone around? I've lost track of Maz shifts for this week :-0

CrystalTips Report 15 Aug 2013 10:44

Good morning, I'm around. OH has taken the car to work so I'll be home all day. I don't intend going anywhere in this weather, especially because of my footwear situation. I broke some of my toes in May, and even though they are on the mend I can still only wear flip flops!

I've been sorting out my 'technology' drawer. I recently had two iPods replaced free of charge because apparently there is a problem with them overheating. I sent off my 4gb one, and my Dad's 2gb and got two 8gb ones in their place, so whilst putting them away I decided to have a proper sort out. I wish I'd never started! Currently trying to match up chargers and leads with old cameras, mp3 player docking stations etc. I discovered that my late Dad's camera has a part used film in it, so I need to get a new battery for that, will use the rest of the film up and get it developed. Even my youngest daughter misses the anticipation (or dread) of the days when you had to go and collect your photos.

Det, I meant to remind you that YG will be occupied this morning. She has a man coming round ;-)

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 15 Aug 2013 11:07

~~~ CT.
Now you don’t have the car, I bet you’ve realised you want/need to go somewhere: D
Have you looked around for soft slipper type shoes for your poorly tootsies?
Jolly good luck sorting out the leads. It’s so difficult to work out what’s still needed and what isn’t, isn’t it. S*ds law that one you threw away will be wanted soon.
How exciting – a camera with film in. Does anywhere still develop them? If you really want to shock yourself, have a look at museum displays of cameras…you might spot a model you had as a child or teenager!
Cor – YG has a man? Do you think he’ll be safe with her????
Some ‘Good News’ for Maz – I think the replacement cards have arrived today. Although I could open it, I’ll let OH have the pleasure.
I am here!! You two can go and sit on the norty step until you have cleansed your minds :-D :-D
My 'man' hasn't been yet. I had to go to the gp's for my annual diabetes tests. Hope the samples are all ok when they have srutinised them all and that I don't get a call from the surgery :-( :-(
Interestingly, they have now started doing memory tests for everyone 65 and over that visits the surgery :-D :-D I had to state my d.o.b., the year, the month and the current time, then she gave me a name and address that I had to remember until the end of the test. Next I was asked to state the months of the year backwards and then count from 1-20 backwards. When all done I then had to repeat the name and address. Thank goodness she didn't me a post code as well :-D :-D
Needless to say, I came through with flying colours >>>>>>>>>>>>>> so why then did I have to write a note to myself to remind me to order a repeat prescription whilst at the surgery :-D :-D :-D :-D
I am waiting for my 'man' to arrive!! Please don't let your minds run amok :-D :-D :-D
You were a bit slow with the cards, DET!! I would have both in my purse by now!!
CT, you sound as though you are quite a technophobe :-D :-D I struggle with the double scart adaptor at the back of the tv sometimes!! I can't even sort out how to get the music onto my smart phone. I did it the first time and then couldn't sort out how to add any more :-D :-D :-D
CrystalTips Report 15 Aug 2013 17:55
You did well with your tests YG! Hope your others turn out to be OK.
Did your man come round?
It ended up being dry here today, the sky has just blackened and now it's chucking it down. Even though it didn't rain all day as forecast I stayed in anyway. I think I've finally copied all the VHS tapes I need onto my computer, the last one being of my cousin's wedding, about 27 years ago. It wasn't as hard to watch as I expected, me knowing that a lot of people on it have since died, including my parents.
I filled my garden wheelie bin yesterday, otherwise I would have done more in the garden today. It had only just been emptied on Tuesday. OH didn't even comment on the garden when he came home last night :-(
YG
YG Report 15 Aug 2013 18:11
That's a man thing, CT!! If he had done the garden he would have expected you to comment!! I speak from experience :-D :-D
Well done with all the VHS tapes. I'll send mine across now !! :-D :-D :-D
My 'man' came. Very eye candy he was too, although I would be charged with baby snatching :-D :-D He is going to do the gardening for me and trim the hedges. More expense, but saves me some work that I am finding harder to keep up with nowadays, particularly with working full time. If I was retired, I could still do it myself, apart from the hedges, but beggars can't be choosers :-D :-D :-D
The sun has been out most of the day here and it is quite warm, but not a good forecast for the weekend.
Absolutely shameful, Maz, particulalry when you didn't whizz some over for us on the laser.
I thought you might have been busy finishing off the decorations in Nut Lodge ready for Her Maj when she returns :-D :-D
