YG Report 27 Aug 2013 18:47

No, the eye appointment is tomorrow afternoon, with another one next Tuesday.

There are four in our team. Two are on holiday this week, and the other girl wasn't well and had to go home at lunchtime, so that leaves me!! We were supposed to be doing one of the jobs that is administered by one of those on leave and I also had 20 courses to prepare for moderation by tomorrow as well as trying to do some prep for a senior management meeting on Thursday. Just impossible to do it all.

On top of that, I rushed home at lunch time to meet the liaison officer for the building work (a specially arranged appointment). She had already been this morning and apparently forgot to check her diary! She is now coming back tomorrow at 1pm, so I will have to leave work even earlier than I was planning for the hospital appt. She has told me that boxes won't be delivered until one week before the work starts and they won't have enough for me to pack everything, so now I have to try to source some boxes. Goodness knows where, as everyone puts them in compactors nowadays and I have loads of stuff to pack up! I told her that I work full time and only have evenings and weekends to do it all, so one week before is much too late for me :-( :-( :-(

Oh dear YG. Your life sounds a bit like mine at the moment :-(. Still the way I look at it things can only get better :-)

No problem Errol I am wearing my red and white one at the moment while the match is on :-D :-D

YG I find that is the only way for me to think to get me through the day sometimes

Oh dear YG – you are in it up to your eyebrows. ‘They’ will just have to hire a temp and supervise them themselves. Your health comes first; in case they suggest it, I think that they have honour medical appointments. Your HR friend can probably advise.

Ask in your supermarket about boxes – although they flatten them, you might be able to tape the bottom together again. Do you have an independent green grocer locally? They might have some open tray type ones in their bin you could have. (when the need arises, I’m an excellent skip-diver ;-))

CT – LOL. No, no shopping today; that’s Wednesday’s pleasure. Although we could have pulled together a meal, OH really fancied one out. We went to the Harvester. Why do we always say something is ‘fine’ when asked when it isn’t?
OK - admittedly they were very busy, but OH’s medium/rare steak was more medium/well done and stingy to-boot. His chips were limp.
I didn’t get my sauce, and the corn on the cob was soggy.

Will we have to arrange a collection to get you home from where ever your going? You’re very brave booking a flight with no way home (yet!) I’m always suspicious of those really cheap deals

What’s up now LG? <3

I'll be thinking of you today, YG, all the rushing about you have to do and the stress of your workload, plus the extra responsibilities. I hope you keep your appointment and negotiate storage boxes.

OH didn't end up in the compost bin, but he's likely to end up in the water butt, head down!

Water butt had a very minor drip at the tap at the bottom. Transferred water to the other water butt, I hopefully sealed it with what is supposed to be the strongest glue on the planet (I glued my coping stones back on the garden wall with it) then PTFE tape at the ready for the thread on the tap. Didn't get a chance to see if it worked. He's taken an impromptu day off work :-P On the way to the tip and to buy another water butt I asked if we should first go and check out the 10 year guarantee on the one which leaked. No, straight to the tip we went. I was proud of myself, I kept my mouth shut.

Sorry! I seem to have done a lot of moaning recently!

YG is our priority at the moment I think. Hopefully Det will have a nice day out today, Maz will have an uneventful shift and things will possibly be more relaxed for LG soon, but not sure why eRRol feels the need for a tin hat - have I missed something?

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 28 Aug 2013 17:56

CT I think Errol needed the hat on Mersey's daily thread for yesterday. I am not sure exactly why though :-S.

I hope YG has had a better day today and got her appointments done and dusted.

Disappearing for a while now to get some tea sorted. Catch you all later <3

YG Report 28 Aug 2013 18:14

Evening everyone.

Well, at least the young one was back today and I was only there till lunchtime. Still didn't get any of my own work done and won't get chance tomorrow, so I am hoping the 'temp' that came in today will have done most of it for me. I will then have to deliver all the courses to my second manager at her home tomorrow evening!! :-( :-(

Appointment 1 done! Appt 2 on Friday morning at 8.45!!

Met the liaison officer at lunchtime. Here is the list of what I have to do myself before they start:

Empty all cupboards in kitchen.
Remove cupboard handles, as I bought them and they will skip them otherwise
Take up carpet tiles ready for skipping (might keep some of them for the shed!)
Take down large venetian blind including header rail (haven't a clue how they fitted it!)
Take down vertical blind in bathroom including header rail
Empty cupboards in bathroom.
Take down toilet roll holder, towel rail and glass shelf (screws not exposed and don't know how to get at them!)
Take up carpet tiles and number each one ready for re-laying
Empty wardrobe
Strip down wardrobe so it can be removed for them to get to the wall for the damp proofing. (My neighbour would like it if it will fit into her son's bedroom, so maybe some help there!)
Pack away ornaments in lounge as they will be fitting 2 new sockets
Move microwave, kettle and toaster into lounge to use in there whilst kitchen being done.
Store all boxes (when I find any!) in lounge and bedroom.
Goodness knows where the clothes are going to go!!

Crawl under the duvet at the end of it if I can find the bed!! :-D :-D :-D

Oh >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> and go to work full time Monday to Friday :-D :-D

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 28 Aug 2013 18:22

Oh, you poor thing YG. Do you think your best friends can come at the weekend bringing extra muscle?

Don't make yourself ill at work - make sure that your Manager(s) know that it is going to be tight to fit everything in. Then if it doesn't happen, at least you can say "Told you so!"
Don't be a door-mat and make sure you make a note of any extra time you put in and take it off when people are back from holiday.

YG

YG Report 28 Aug 2013 19:00

I wish it was that easy DET. :-( :-(

Everyone is annoyed today, because they have now decided that we have to work until 5pm on Christmas Eve, whereas we have always been allowed to finish at 12pm in recent years. All the centres will be closed so there is no need for us to be there. I have got round it by putting in for a day's holiday!! I used to work when I only had to go in for the morning, but I will be damned if I am going in for a whole day :-D :-D

Edit:
Oooh, I've just realised that I've mentioned the unmentionable season before 1st Dec!! :-D :-D
