CrystalTips Report 2 Sep 2013 12:11

Hello Det,

On a downward spiral here :-(

Luckily the floors I need to clean are tiled, so I've been able to clean up to a certain extent. Just filled my mop bucket with bleach - can't find my mop! My old one was outside next to the bin ready to go to the tip / out with general rubbish but I haven't a clue where my new one is. Got 2 new mop heads, but no stick. Phoned OH at work, he doesn't know where it is, he hasn't used it (there's a surprise!)

It's usually difficult to try the 24 hour without food thing with any dog, let alone a greedy one, but she must be ill as she hasn't wanted anything to eat today. I'm quite worried because 'it' was a bit slimy and looked to have blood in

aww CT dogs seem to know when to eat and when not to Ours used to ,maybe it has a bone if it was blood .Bicarb is good for smells and vinegar is good for stains and smells

to quote Julius Caesar (Kenneth Williams in Carry On Cleo) "Infamy! Infamy! They've all got it in for me!"

I feel jinxed. Has someone got hold of a Crystal Tips doll to stick pins into?

Daughter no 1 is struggling with mites - not sure if paper / flour or whatever may have arrived in rabbit food or bedding. For the last two days she has been cleaning everything in her kitchen twice a day to try to get rid of the little beggars (not that she doesn't clean regularly anyway, I've had flour mites in the past and had to wash everything and throw any foods in cardboard packaging away)

Daughter no 2 in London 'phoned to say that she was walking on her ceiling. She got a text from her flatmate last night to tell her that it had fallen down and warn her not to come home, but she had nowhere else to stay. Waiting to hear from her to find out what her landlord has to say, and how soon things can be sorted, and if she can be put up somewhere else in the meantime.

Me moaning again! Good news though - it turns out that our friend is up from the Midlands visiting his Mum. OH asked him to go to the market to buy the stick bit for my mop, which he thankfully did, so that's going to be me for the rest of today - Mrs Mop!

Maz! I could kiss you! Just seen your post (I got waylaid whilst taking delivery of my mop stick)

OH gave her a bone the other day, if that what the problem is I'm so relieved, I was thinking all sorts - obviously the worst case scenario.

That's put a spring in my step, I might even sing whilst I'm mopping!

Evening all!

I'm still here, not been RR'd after all. My back up plan was to e-mail LG so that she could let you know of my absence.

Thanks so much Maz, you did put my mind at rest, hopefully it was the bone that Daisy dog had which caused the problems, she's had a bit of food tonight so she must be feeling better. New mop and bucket at the ready just in case, don't worry about any cross infections when I clean up at yours LG, I've got 2 new mop heads, it was my stick which went missing.

Missing Det and LG! Hope everything is OK with you and yours.

I've not heard from youngest daughter since she told me about her ceiling and was going to contact her landlord. She will be at work now so will have to wait till tomorrow to get an update.

Hearing news on TV as I type, the alleged victim in the Michael Le Vell trial was only six years old when the abuse purportedly began.

Helloooooooooooooo. Just back from the Historical Society meeting. Not a very good talk tonight I found it a bit boring and long winded.
Unusual as most speakers are really good

Here I am! Good morning.

Don’t worry about my non appearance in the evenings CT. My time on the PC is normally in the morning then we watch TV in the evening. I’ll only pop in if OH wants to watch something that I find boring. Sometimes I lurk bit am too tired to post coherently.

Good news about Daisy Dog. Fingers crossed that the problem has ‘passed’.
The Landlord will be able to claim against his insurance to get the ceiling fixed, assuming he doesn’t have a maintenance team on standby.

Never mind LG – fingers crossed that the next FHS speaker will be more interesting.

Well done both Maz and YG tackling your jobs. OH has more or less finished cutting the hedge although he will have to get the trimmer out to attempt to do something with a 12 ft high section the neighbour wants left. I’ll probably have to hold the step ladder while he wealds the wand!
One dump run made with at least one possibly 2 to come.

Can’t say that I know who Michael Le Vell is, but no way can he claim that a 6 year old was throwing herself at him in adulation. :-|

CrystalTips Report 3 Sep 2013 13:48

Twelve foot high?! I'm worried about you both doing the hedge, top or bottom of the ladder.

A much better day here. Nothing to clean up when I came downstairs, and Daisy has had some brekkie. Spoke to daughter this morning after seeing the photo she had posted on Facebook of her bedroom floor. The landlord said he'd get a contractor to clear up the rubble and fix the ceiling. Apparently there is another section which looks in danger of falling down.

Michael Le Vell was Kevin the mechanic in Coronation St.

Afternoon one and all, The next speaker will be a good one I hope. It is all on the subject of the workhouses.

Getting tea now but will pop in abit later.

Evening all.

Garden all neat and tidy, but did have to sweep up after him. Just finished, as I had to go to the hospital for a 5pm appointment. Was seen very swiftly - in and out in 20 mins, but took me half an hour in the taxi to get home because we hit rush hour!

I have just put the wardrobes on Freecycle, so hoping that they are snatched up. They are quite cumbersome and have to be out of the way for the damp proofing, so I am panicking a bit in case nobody wants them. I will keep you informed!! :-D :-D

I spent yesterday evening going through loads of old photographs and having yet another clear out!! I bought a new album to store all the ones I want to keep, but some are too big to go in it! I need to look for a single page album now as well!

Just off to grab a quick bite. :-D :-D :-D

Morning all – Did LG nod off in the armchair last night?

Good to hear that everyone’s lives are turning round. Daisy Dog is on the mend, the ceiling is being taken care of, and the wardrobes will soon be sent to a new home. Freecycle users will take anything!

CT – most of the hedge was about 8 foot which we’ve cut down to roughly 7 foot. Its slightly lower on the neighbours side as the ground slopes down on ours. The high section was left to grow to provide shelter for their greenhouse. Even though they have a taller stepladder it is now too high to deal with the top. Personally, I don’t think the sheltering aspect holds water as there is a run of leylandi trees within a couple of yards in another neighbour’s garden which would protect it. It doesn’t really bother us as nothing will grow in that section anyway. As we are both at the end of a Close/cul-de-sac the gardens are a funny shape. This part from our perspective is the apex of a triangle.

As it’s Wednesday, it’s ????? Hopefully we’ll take some of the bags of trimmings to the dump en route. We didn’t do any yesterday as it was Annie’s funeral/cremation. The chapel was almost full which shows how respected and inspirational she was. Apparently she had developed secondary breast cancer – it must have been a rampant version as she had been given the all clear only a few months earlier.

MOrning all, no I did not nod off DET. YAL and I are busy researching some local WW1 soldiers for our local history society centenary display next year. I got engrossed with 2 of them as I have discovered they are part of OH's family by marriage.

Now off to get the new school uniform for 1 mini Gooner who starts back tomorrow at a different school which is a bit closer so not such a long run for Nanna :-D :-D :-D

CrystalTips Report 4 Sep 2013 10:57

Well done finishing the hedge, I'm pleased that there were no accidents. You deserve a lunchtime treat today!

We have only one hedge, luckily our neighbours agree with us at the height to trim it to, but we do need to have a discussion about a tree at the back of their garden. It's not their tree, it's the other side of their fence on the old railway embankment. The ivy growing up it shades my greenhouse, as do a lot of the overhanging branches. I didn't want to do anything about it earlier in the year because wood pigeons were nesting in it, and now a lot of blackbirds are feeding off the berries. Dilemma.

My fence is finished! I thought there was going to be paint everywhere yesterday - the birds were dropping berries onto metal shed roof, it was so noisy and kept making my painter man jump. He was like Jack Douglas as Alf Ippititamus!

I hope YG did nod off in the armchair, rather than having a tussle with the wardrobes and getting shut in, or anything like that. Perhaps they did go on Freecycle and the person collecting them was a bit of alright. I suppose we'll have to wait a few hours to find out, if we don't hear anything we'll have to send out the cavalry (or fire brigade!)

Morning LG! Sorry I was thinking about YG nodding off after being busy with the sorting out. Enjoy your day!
