Morning!

Hope your mouth is better today Maz. I hope it brightens up here, it was so cold when I went to the shop at 7.30. I'm hoping to get the lawn done before the downpours forecast for the next few days.

I'd forgotten about Heritage open days LG - I checked the web site, and one of the places I would like to visit is open today, but then spent half an hour getting myself all worked up because there is a strong possibility I would bump into someone I would rather not see ever again. So I've wussed out and decided to clean the fridge out instead :-(

I can't believe it's four years since you moved YG! I bent down to pick some cellophane up this morning (my fault for forgetting to put ham back in fridge after stage 1 of cleaning and the dog pinched it off the worktop) I almost touched one of those 8 legged things, one of the big ones with binoculars and football boots! {{{Shudders}}}

What's on your agenda Det? I forgot to ask - how did you get on with transport / passes in London? I'll have to let you know about the free taxi credit I got for when you go again

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 14 Sep 2013 10:07

Morning CT -

In the end we bought an all day travel card with our train ticket. As OH is now the not so proud owner of a Freedom bus pass, we were exploring other pricing options.

We have considered getting an oyster card, but I might go to London once a year, and OH say every three! As it was, our day out excluding the exhibiting tickets cost us about £50 including snacks; its not something we'd consider on a regular basis.

The pricing investigation did clear up one thing which was puzzling us - Mother in law had said that her sister gets free transport including overland trains. Sister lives in one of the Greater London Boroughs. We're in the same County, but don't.

What a pity that you have done yourself out of a visit - was there no way that you could be civil but cold if you met the unliked person?

We've both got Oyster cards, OH actually remembered to take it with him this time! I put £20 on mine, but not sure of my current balance. Mine is registered online so I'll be able to see my journey history.

I think I made the right decision to stay at home today. It was making me feel ill worrying about a possible situation.

The only dilemma I've got now is about a spider's web inside the window. Even though I'm not keen on spiders I don't like killing them or spoiling their webs!

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 14 Sep 2013 11:32

Spider webs are natures fly traps, or at least that's what I tell OH :-D :-D

As long as your house doesn't end up like Miss Haversham's...........?????

If it was making you ill, the trip wouldn't have been worth it.
I doubt if we'll be going anywhere - the ones I might vaguely be interested in had pre-booked guided tours to limit the numbers. Too late for those.

Evening everyone.

A really busy day today! I started as soon as I crawled out of bed at 7.15 and finished at 5pm, including getting the food shopping done!

Yes, he turned up on time for the wardrobes. It wasn't as bad as I thought when we got to the back of them. Some cobwebs, but only one smallish spider that went up the vacuum!!

R came and took down the odd bits and bobs, so I am almost done. Go to take up the carpet tiles in the bathroom tomorrow and clean the tacky substance off the Marley tiles or the builders will be sticking to the floor :-D :-D :-D Apart from that, and moving the microwave, toaster and kettle into the lounge, I am done.

I want to get the oven cleaned tomorrow and do the ironing, but after the last couple of weeks, a relatively easy day. Feet up for 3 weeks now. The work is due to be completed by 4th October, which is 1 one week sooner that I expected!! :-) :-)

Thank goodness for small mercies :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

I'm sick to the back teeth of whole evenings being taken up with footie during the week!! They are not satisfied with showing the match. We have to have highlights as well, so apart from a 30 minute break for the news it's on from 7ish to 11.30 :-P :-P :-P :-P :-P

Ha-ha!! Rant over :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

YG Report 14 Sep 2013 22:38

I will allow you to watch your favourite team, LG, for being a good girl.

Step out of line and you will have to do penance, which means 'no matches' for a month :-D :-D :-D :-D

I'm off to slumbers deep now. I need to reserve my energy for cleaning the oven tomorrow. A job I detest YUK :-( :-( :-(

Hope you sleep well. Catch you tomorrow, maybe at brekkie time, or in the evening!! <3 <3
